Jog my Memory

"Wang Fen, tell me again how you plan to do this full time?"

"Oh, are you interested now? Well because we are good bros I'll tell you my plan. Right now we need to start the game when it opens and start leveling, the game company says you can start real businesses in-game. However, there's not much info on how to do it or how the money system will work but as long as we grab up sufficient resources first then we can sell them off as we please when more and more people join."

"How much money do you think we could make doing that?"

"At first it might not be much, a couple thousand a month if we grab the right stuff early, but after a while when more and more businesses startup we will start to sell the information on were to find the best stuff. This is all to set us up for being pro gamer where the real money is made, as long as we are high enough level and can get the attention of a pro team they might recruit us to work for them gathering materials. In an MMO you can make 5 grand a month if the right team picks you up and then we just play the game like normal."

"Simple right?"

"That sounds simple, but how are we going to pay rent in the meantime? What if no pro team picks us up?"

"Tang bro you don't need to get so worried all the time... We only need to do this for a couple months, if nothing is working out we can always stop and get real jobs. We just graduated and everyone is applying for jobs, if worst comes to worst you can just move in with me and ill cover rent."

"If this doesn't work I might do that."

"HAHAHA... Wait does that mean your in?"

"Ya, I'm in I already bought the game and system so I can't go back now."

"Wow, that's great man. The game should go live in a couple of days, use this time to get used to the system and read up on the forums. Once the game goes live don't worry about finding me and just see how far you can get, after a day or two we'll try to meet up and see where we are at."

"Ok sounds good see you later."

After hanging up Tang walked back to his room and started scanning the online forums about "Artemis". The Forums jogged Tang's memories on what would happen in the game and he wrote down everything in his notebook.

A few minutes later the game finished installing and was ready to play, In order to play the user had to put on the NEST System which consisted of a headset, transparent visor, and two electric patches. The patches were placed at the base of the skull and read the impulses from the brain to the rest of the body. While the Visor and Headset read the electrical impulses for your five senses and controlled your characters decision making.

Tang placed the headset and patches on him first before slipping the visor over his eye's, on the transparent screen were instructions on how to the system worked. Followed by steps that you had to follow so the system could get used to reading your brain waves.

Tang had to bend and stretch at different angles for an hour before the connection was finished, It had felt like he was practicing yoga.

"Thank you for purchasing the NEST System and we hope you enjoy your time in Artemis."

There was still a day and a half until the games official launch so Tang spent as much time as he could studying the forums for anything that sounded familiar.

The forums only had the basic information about the game as well as some of the pro gamers and industry insiders guesses about what the game would be like.

Artemis was a sci-fi/fantasy RPG that calmed to allow the player to affect everything with their actions, the game took everything the players did into account and changed accordingly.

In Artemis, you are colonists that arrive on "Planet Artemis" in an effort to explore the world and find out if there is anything on it of value for humanity. However, the atmosphere of the planet as well as the plants, water, and animals are harmful to you because your genes evolved on Earth.

In order to overcome this, the scientist and governments have developed a special material called the "Gene Suit" that is made on the planet to function as a second skin, allowing you to survive on the planet. The gene suit was made to mutate and adapt over time so the more you explore and the more genes you encounter the easier it is for you to survive.

The native creatures on Artemis have evolved in a different way than on earth and while guns and blades can harm some of the weaker creatures they do nothing to stronger ones. That is why the gene suit was also modified to allow you to gather the gene's on creatures you kill and take the unique abilities of the creature. Each creature you kill will passively improve you physically according to the creature's best stat, then every 5 levels you can choose a creature to turn into a "Gene Alter" for your gene suit giving you their ability.

"I know that the world of Artemis was supposed to start out very sparse and the players really have to find their own way around but I don't remember how the early gamer's made money or found success."

"That being said if I remember correctly the most successful early gamers were able to grow much faster than others because they found something in the tutorial."

Thinking about that Tang began to search tutorial information on the forums with little success, after around twelve hours he found a post titled "Beta Gamer: Secrets".
