Chapter eighty two Forbidden

Martin leans against the door frame and watches his wife for a few minutes, he then took a deep breath and enters the kitchen. "Hi, teddy bear how was your day?" She asks with a bright smile. "It was going fine until I ran into missionary Clark at the gas station." He said standing next to her. "I'm very upset with you little lady." He said taking the big spoon from her and stirring the pot of soup she had on the stove.

"Me? Why? What did I do?" She asks in an innocent tone. "It's more about what missionary Clark said you did?" He said. "And what exactly did she say I did?" She asks tilting her head to the side. "Well based on what she said, I've come to the realization that you lied to me." He said, hands on his hips.

"I'm confused." She said shaking her head and taking a seat at the table. "You told me it was okay for me to at least try and find out what happened to Kayla but now I know for sure you didn't mean that." "Of course, I didn't but even if I had forbidden you to help her you would've still insisted on doing so, so what's the difference?" She said in an annoyed tone.

"So just because you're still angry at her that gave you and your sister the right to chew her out in public?" he asks angrily. "How did you…. Oh right… missionary Clark, maybe she should have minded her own business." Susan grumbles.

Pulling a chair in front of her he took both her hands in his. "Listen, baby, I know most of this anger is coming from the fact that you think I still have feelings for Kayla but I don't." He reassures her. "Oh really, then why do you insist on being her hero?" she snaps and pulls her hands away.

"Because as much as you don't care what happens to her, other people do." "Name one." She said hands folded on top of her belly. "Her mom for one." "Please after all she put that woman through, she doesn't care about her." "Wrong again baby, that woman is worried sick about Kayla, she doesn't care much what Kayla thinks about her she just wants to know she's safe, where ever she is," Martin explains.

"Then leave it to the damn police, it's their job to find her not yours but whatever, I'm going to get the kids for dinner." She said getting up. "Sit." He orders but she just shakes her head at him. "Oh please Martin, just move." "I said sit your ass down now." He orders again in a cold tone and she reluctantly sits back down.

He was about to say something when his son enters the kitchen. " "Mommy I'm hungry." He whines. "David, go back to your sister and don't move until I come to get you alright." His tone was firm enough to prevent the child from questioning his statement. "Yes, daddy." He said dragging his feet as he left the kitchen.

He then began in a cold harsh tone. "You act as if you were the only person hurt by what Kayla did? News flash baby, Kayla hurt a lot of people. Ty more than anyone else, but do you think he would be happily married right now if he was still wallowing in anger and unforgiveness? No, he wouldn't." he states in the same tone.

"Even after everything I put him through because of her he still forgave me, do I deserve that, after all, I've said and done to him? Hell no, but still he forgave me, and here you are, a child of God and you can't find it in your heart to forgive her, no one said you had to be friends with her again but you can at least forgive her and put it behind you." He states.

"How can you expect God to forgive you if you can't forgive her? She could be lying dead in a ditch for all we know and you don't even care." He took his Bible from his bag and slams it down on the table.

"Know what this book says, Susan? Forgive and you shall be forgiven. If God loves us, so we ought to love one another. Love your neighbor as you love yourself. How can you say you love God whom you can't see but hate the person that you can? The person that could really use your help right now." He asks.

"I…." "Shush, you can't serve two masters Susan. So choose, before your anger and unforgiveness destroy this family." He hisses. "I'm going to get the kids ready for dinner." He said walking away from her as silent tears ran down her face.
