Devante wrestled with his conscience as he waited for his flight to begin boarding. He had finally gotten the chance he had been waiting for to unleash his anger on the woman who had caused his little brother to get shot and unleashed he did, but what surprised the hell out of him was her reaction to his anger. She wasn't snobbish, she didn't square her shoulders and dig her heels in ready for a fight, ready to defend herself like he had expected.
Instead, she scurried to the corner of her hospital room and bend down covering her ears, shaking and sobbing in total panic and shock. For a moment he couldn't believe what he was seeing and just at that moment, he realized why everyone called her kitten, because that was exactly what she looked like cowering in the corner.
Her reaction should've made him back down but he didn't, he just kept shouting one question after another without giving her a chance to answer any. She flinched with every question and he soon realize that if he was going to get any answers from this woman, then he would've to change his approach.
So instead of shouting his questions at her, he began growling them out through clenched teeth which seems to make her shudder even more. His instinct was screaming at him to ease up on her but for some reason, he couldn't seem to reign in the anger that was pouring out of him
He was in the process of ordering her to answer one of his many questions when a man pushed her door and stepped inside, his hands full with about four bags. On seeing what was happening the man growled at him to stop, dropped the bags on the floor, and rushed over to her lifting her to her feet.
He had remembered seeing this man at Fabian's wedding, he was also the one that was shot while trying to save her. What was this man doing here and how could he not be angry at her for what happened to him? He had wondered to himself.
He tried to ignore the man and continues to growl out his questions but he soon realize that the atmosphere in the room had changed drastically, he was no longer alone with a scared pregnant woman and he no longer felt like the dominator because there was an extremely intimidating sense of power radiating from the man.
He had heard that this man had knocked the criminal out with a single punch. Well, he could definitely picture that, at that moment.
After lifting her from the corner, the man led her back to the bed and put her to relax against a big pillow, then sat beside her. All that time he just stood there staring at their movements, because as angry as he was he knew it wouldn't be a wise idea to take this man on. If this man was this intimidating when he was calm, then he didn't want to see him angry.
With his deadly deep blue eyes, the man fixed him with an ice-cold gaze before telling him to continue with his questions, one at a time which he did; not only did she answer them, she also explains in detail everything he wanted to know. She even showed him faded scars on her arm, feet, and shoulder of what she went through and it didn't take him long to realize just how very wrong he was about her.
At that moment he thought he was only wrong about some of what he thought he knew but a few minutes later when Mr. Jackson entered her room and was caught up to speed about what was going on, Mr. Jackson told him that they had done an extensive background check on her.
When Mr. Jackson was finished, that was when he realized he was wrong about everything he thought he knew. She was indeed telling the truth about everything she had been through right up until the moment Ty had found her at the side of the street.
Then Ty came in the room and heard what he had done and if it wasn't for Mr Jackson, Ty would've torn his head off, not that he could blame him, but if he had thought that Ty's anger was the worse he would face for his actions, he was again mistaken because Ty's older brothers anger was ten times worse.
He was so hell-bent on being his little brother's keeper that he never once thought he could be wrong about her but wrong he was. Oh God; how could anyone survive all that and still find the strength to help someone else?
He was only trying to help but all he did was scare the poor woman half to death and pissed off his little brother and the rest of the Jackson family. His brother was so angry at him that he ordered him to get on a flight out of Jamaica immediately, well that was three days ago but he was finally going.
He messed up and the worse thing was he couldn't take back any of it. The person over the intercom announced that his flight was now boarding, so with a heavy sigh he got up and was about to walk in the direction of his flight when someone tap him on his shoulder.
Devante turns and froze. "Caleb." Was all he could get out as his voice hitched in his throat on seeing Caleb's sinister smirk.

Heavenly Father, today I choose to dwell

on the truth of your word, thoughts that
will build me up rather than tear me down.
