When dinner was ready, Yang Lifei was not up yet. Jin Chen was worried that she would get sick if she slept too much so he decided to wake her up. Jin Chen was surprised when he found sitting on the bed and looking at the window in a daze that she didn't even notice when he came inside the room.
"Feifei," Jin Chen gently called out her name but it seemed like she didn't hear him at all. While Jin Chen was worried that something was wrong with, Yang Lifei only felt that she could hear someone call her name but the voice seemed like it was muffled and she couldn't hear it very clearly. Her thoughts went back to almost her last moments when Xue Li has told that her brother was set up. She blamed herself for everything that happened to everyone in her previous life. If only she didn't trust those two people whom she considered her friends yet the people around her didn't, she felt like the most stupid person in the world.
If she didn't trust them, could her parents and brother had a good life without mishaps?
And Jin Chen, they could have lived a peaceful life without arguments and misunderstandings, right?
And those two, what if their minds were not evil at all, could everything had been peaceful?
These were questions that kept ringing inside her head and she really wanted someone to help her answer these questions but who would?
"Feifei," seeing that she was still lost in her thoughts and didn't even respond to him, he went closer to her and rubbed her head making her snap out of her reverie.
How long had he been here? She thought. She was so lost in her previous memories of her last moments and also regret that she didn't even see or sense when he got inside the room.
"Jin Chen," she called out in a small voice. She really wanted to share with someone why her emotions had been like a rollercoaster since the engagement the other day but she was worried that they would think that she was insane.
What if no one believed her?
But what if one day Jin Chen gets the memories of their past life? Would he hate her? If it meant that he would hate her, then it was better if she kept everything to herself for now until she was sure that their relationship was stable.
"Hmm, dinner is ready. Your brother helped preparing and he's still downstairs," he told her what he knew that she wanted to hear right now. Anything else would take time before she could open up. Whatever it was that was bothering her seemed to be huge.
"Brother..." She remembered that her brother had called her before her emotional outburst and knowing him, he was now worried about her. "Let's go, I'm actually hungry," Yang Lifei said to Jin Chen before she made to stand up from the bed.
"Alright," Jin Chen followed her out of their bedroom as they made their way downstairs. Yang Feng was standing beside the dining table while waiting for the lovebirds to come down. Seeing his sister walk towards him with swollen eyes from her crying earlier, he quietly hugged his sister while patting her back without asking about what happened.
"Feeling better," Yang Feng asked gently as he led his sister to take a seat while ignoring the other man in the room.
The ignored Jin Chen, "..." Can't you see me too? And that's my wife okay?! Well he can't do anything to his brother in law, for now.
"Yeah, I'm feeling better. Thanks brother," she smiled back at her brother like nothing had happened before. She had calmed down her emotions by now. She knew that if she wanted to keep her loved ones safe and take her revenge, she had to put her emotions in check and avoid the outbursts.
"Alright, let's eat then," he started putting food in his sister's plate still ignoring his friend. Jin Chen had already taken a seat on the other side of his wife while consoling himself to let his friend slash brother in law have his time for now before kicking him out. He was happy when Yang Lifei kept putting food in his bowl and he ate everything that she put for him. Jin Chen, 'See, I'm still number one in my wife's eyes.'
After dinner, the couple and the third wheel both went to the living room while watching some business news, considering they all business people. From there, Yang Lifei apologized to her brother for not listening to him before when he told her that her friends were not trustable. And that she had learned her lesson. She also told him that, that was the reason she broke down earlier because she felt guilty.
Her reasoning was acceptable but none of the men believed her, they half believed. They knew something was bothering her but that was for next time. If they believed her truly, then how did they reach whenever they were as businessmen?
Yang Feng patted his sister's head and told her that he was glad she has come to her senses before he was kicked out by Jin Chen.
"What are you doing tomorrow? Going back to work?" Jin Chen asked Yang Lifei when he was getting to bed after taking a shower.
"Not yet, maybe the day after tomorrow. I'm sure my brother can do without me for a day," Yang Lifei said while snuggling closer to him. Although he had just take a shower, his body was so warm that she felt like he was he personal warmer.
"Hmm, so what will you be doing then? Staying at home?" He asked again. Knowing that she had had a difference with her only friends, the only option she had if not going to work was staying at home. But that will be too boring and he didn't want that, if he could draw her to his company he could have long time ago but he wasn't sure if that was something that she wanted.
"Nothing really, I was thinking of taking a break tomorrow and stay at home before going back to work. I know those despicable people would come looking for me if I go to work tomorrow and I need to be strong and hard hearted to face them," Jin Chen definitely knew who those two people were and he could also feel the anger radiating from her while talking about them. He rubbed her back gently while continuously kissing her hair to help her calm down.
