Chapter Ten

June 13, 1580

I awoke to the sun blaring in my eyes, through the window. My eyes flicker open, I sit up, let out a yawn, and stretch my arms. It takes a second for me to fully awake. I glance at the clock on the wall to my right. It read six o’clock. It took a second for me to process what I had just read. Then it dawned on me, I was late! I sprung up out of bed, and threw on some clothes. I shoved all of my belongings in a sack, before running out of the door.

I ran through Harmstead, to the port, where the Thisbe was waiting for me. "Hey, hold on!" I yelled, once the crew was in my site, they were about to set sail! I ran down the doc, like my life depended on it. Once I got close enough to the end of the deck, I jumped!

I shut my eyes tightly, preparing to fall into the murky sea, but my feet hit the deck. I made it aboard.

“Late again I see.” Maximilian says.

“Overslept again," I laugh it off, and regain my composure.
