They are so selfish and indifferent that it's disgusting.
And the phone call Natalie Mitchel made sent shivers down her spine.
But when she thought about it carefully, it made perfect sense.
After all, Natalie Mitchel wouldn't have just randomly switched her child, someone must have caught her weakness for money, lured and bribed her.
She nervously stared at the serious-looking Awu for a while before he shook his head apologetically and said, "The number Natalie Mitchel called from is an internet phone that has been remodeled multiple times. I couldn't trace the source before the call was ended, and...the person who answered also had their voice processed, it wasn't their original voice."
This so-called "boss" is very cautious and cunning, they haven't found any clues at all.
Jane covered her face with her hands, tears streaming through her fingers. She didn't know who was against her, but this cruel method was like a knife in her heart.
And she had such a serious illness that she could die at any moment.
After a moment of despair, she forced herself to calm down. When she lifted her head, her tears were still wet, but her eyes were determined and calm. "I'm going to see Natalie Mitchel now, I must find out where my son is."
George Hayes and Awu were both uncomfortable that they didn't find any useful information about the "boss," but they didn't object when Jane said that. George Hayes stood up and said, "I'll drive you there."
In the past few days, Jane's complexion had gotten worse and both George Hayes and Awu were worried about her. They had asked her to go to the hospital, but she had been dragging her feet.
As Jane and George Hayes left the hotel room, they ran into Vivian West and John, who had just come back from the hospital. Vivian West was affectionately holding onto John's arm, while John held Vivian West's medication in his other hand.
The couple looked like a beautiful painting walking together, with their talents and looks complementing each other perfectly. As they approached closer and closer, she couldn't help but stop in her tracks and gaze uncontrollably at John.
In that moment, a surge of impulse rose within her, wanting to run towards John and embrace him while crying about their son who had been taken away. But before she could act on this impulse, Vivian West stumbled on the edge of the carpet beneath her high heels, causing her to cry out in surprise. John quickly caught her in his arms.
Jane watched as they embraced, slowly coming back to reality. The handsome man holding the young and beautiful girl in his arms was like a scene from a romantic movie. If only there was a camera to capture it all, but alas, there wasn't.
As Jane felt a twinge of regret in her heart, Vivian West blushed and stood up straight, still holding onto John's hand.
He didn't let go.
Vivian West turned to face her and politely greeted her, "Hello, Jane sister-"
Others say that meeting a love rival can make one jealous, but Vivian West was particularly courteous and even showed a hint of warmth, as if she was certain that Jane posed no threat to her.
And that kind of certainty was the most hurtful thing of all.
Jane put on her most elegant and charming smile, nodding towards Vivian West and her ex-husband George Hayes, signaling for them to leave.
But as they walked a few steps away, Vivian West called out to her, "Jane sister," and approached her. She hesitated for a while before finally blurting out, "I might not leave John's house this time, Auntie hopes I can marry John brother."
Jane's heart clenched in pain, but she kept her composure and continued to smile, her cheeks beginning to ache.
But what could she do? Her voice was ruined, and she didn't want to make a fool of herself in front of her ex-husband and his new lover.
"Jane sister, do you agree to me marrying John brother?"
Vivian West looked worried, as if Jane's opinion was particularly important.
