My Dream II

Halle’s POV

The doorbell chimed as I stepped into Pa's flower shop, the sweet scent of blooming flowers enveloping me. The familiar sight of colorful blossoms greeted me, and there she was – Jessie, diligently arranging bouquets with Pa.

"Hey, Jessie!" I called out, a grin spreading across my face. Jessie looked up, her eyes lighting up with surprise, and then sheer joy as she spotted me.

"Halle!" she exclaimed, dropping the flowers she held and rushing over to envelop me in a warm hug. "How did the audition go?" she asked eagerly, her eyes filled with curiosity.

I couldn't help but mirror her excitement. "It was amazing, Jess! The applause, the judges, even Xavier was there, clapping for me!" I shared, the thrill of the moment bubbling over.

Jessie beamed, "That's incredible! Tell me everything!"

As we chatted, Pa joined us, his hands adorned with traces of soil from the flowers. "What's all the excitement about?" he chuckled, looking between us.

"Halle's audition, Pa! It went so well," Jessie gushed, a proud smile on her face.

Pa nodded, his eyes twinkling. "Well, Halle, with that talent of yours, Gleewood Arts is bound to open its doors for you."

I grinned, the reassurance from Pa grounding me. "Thanks, Pa. Your flowers brought me luck, I'm sure of it!"

"Even Xavier was there," I repeated, excitement bubbling in my voice. Jessie looked at me with wide eyes, her hands pausing mid-air in disbelief.

"You mean Xavier, like from Elite 3? My crush?" she asked, her words tumbling out with a mix of surprise and joy.

I nodded, a playful grin forming on my face. Jessie's eyes widened even further, and then, unable to contain herself, she squealed with delight.

"Xavier! Oh my gosh, Halle, you have to spill every detail! Did he say anything? Did he smile at you?" Jessie fired questions, her enthusiasm contagious. She took my hands in hers, and suddenly, we were both jumping in giddy excitement.

"I didn't recognize him at first, and trust me, he's a jerk, but he's actually nice. Besides, you're the one obsessed with them; I have no business with them," I explained, catching my breath between jumps.

Jessie gave me a confused look, her brows furrowing in an adorable manner. "How could someone be nice and a jerk?" she asked, seeking clarification.

And then, with a mischievous glint in my eye, I confessed, "And I think I have a crush." The words hung in the air, and immediately, her expression transformed into a sly smirk.

"What??" she exclaimed, her surprise turning into playful teasing.

“His name is Jason," I began, my eyes lighting up with a spark of excitement. "He's tall, handsome, and his smile... It's love at first sight," I shared with Jessie, feeling a gush of emotions.

"Let’s check his social page. I need to see him," Jessie suggested eagerly, her eyes flickering with anticipation as she motioned for my broken phone.

"Halle, what happened to your phone?" she gasped in disbelief, her brows furrowing in concern.

"Blame your favorite celebrity," I retorted with a bitter chuckle.

"Xavier? What did he do?" she pressed, her voice tinged with worry.

"He did this," I sighed, showing her the shattered screen. "He and his obsessed fans. You need to see them, giggling and obsessing over him. And he’s a jerk," I added, frustration lacing my words.

"I don’t care if he’s a jerk face, he’s still mine," she protested, her tone defiant as she crossed her arms in determination.

I rolled my eyes in response, acknowledging her unwavering loyalty. "Let’s find Jason," she declared, pulling out her phone .

Jessie and I decided to do some detective work on IG, searching for Jason's profile, but to our dismay, we couldn't find a trace of him. Not a single trace of him, not even in Gleewood High's following list.

"He must be a private person," Jessie concluded, leaning back as we scrolled through profiles.

"It's a good thing you're getting over Dylan now," she remarked, trying to uplift the mood. However, the mention of my ex’s name sent an unwelcome shiver down my spine.Memories of the past invaded my thoughts, making my stomach churn.

"He looks miserable now, Halle," Jessie continued, her voice tinged with disdain. "He even came to me, asking about you, heard you were out of the hospital. I ignored him all day."

I sighed heavily, feeling drained by the mere thought of Dylan. "Jessie," I called out, my voice tinged with exhaustion. "I need to rest. I'll be back in the evening."

"Got it, Halle," Jessie replied, her tone sympathetic. "I'll help Pa finish arranging the bouquet. The owner will be here for it in the evening.”she assured me.

With a nod of gratitude, I made my way to the door, eager to escape the suffocating weight of the past and and the prospect of moving forward. It was a new beginning for me, and the journey ahead held a promise of transformation.

The next morning, I was roused from sleep by Jessie's persistent shaking. My eyes fluttered open to her excited face, and before I could fully grasp my surroundings, she screamed, "Halle, you have to check if you made it into Gleewood Arts!"she exclaimed, her voice filled with urgency.

The mention of Gleewood sent a jolt of anxiety through me, and I practically leaped from bed, grabbing my laptop from the bedside table. The nervous anticipation filled the room as I handed over the laptop to Jessie, my hands slightly trembling.

She stared at the screen for what felt like an eternity, her expression transitioning from hopeful to somber. "I'm so sorry, Halle," she murmured, her voice reflecting the sadness in her eyes.

I cut in, a feigned disappointment in my tone, "It's okay, Jessie. I'll just cry myself back to sleep since I didn't get in."

But before I could process the situation fully, Jessie's face lit up, and she screamed, "You got in!"

I jumped from the bed, our hands locking together as we both started screaming with joy. The commotion caught Pa's attention, and he walked in, knocking on the half-opened door. "Why are you girls screaming so early in the morning?"

"Pa, Halle got into Gleewood!" Jessie screamed, and Pa's face lit up as he rushed over to hug me. Gleewood Arts had opened its doors to me, marking the realization of a dream I had yearned for.
