Slaying Sand Dragons

"Welp. Might as well go grind a bit." Rin ran towards the wilderness and soon met the first monster! The area was a beach and walking around it was a giant sand dragon.

Rin looked at it and had a flashback to him easily destroying this same monster when he was but a sand speck.

"Come to daddy" Rin yelled out to the dragon. The dragon noticed it and actually began running to Rin.

Rin smiled in response. He didn't want to kill the dragon, he wanted to tame it.

The sand dragon clawed at Rin but he hastily dodged it. He pet the dragon on its head and gave it a nice hug.

The dragon made a purring noise and then exploded into Sand specks.

"Succesfully slain level 1 sand dragon!" The system spoke.

Rin was in tears. "Why.. Why?! My poor dragon!"

A high level player attempting to hug a level 1 monster.. there was only one outcome afterall.

Below where the dragon was were sand scales and other materials that Rin gathered. He wanted to use everything he could instead of wasting it.

Just as Rin was about to head over to another dragon he spotted, a announcement was made.

"Leaderboards are now available! Player count has been met!" The system wasn't just inside of Rin's head, it was being announced throughout the entire dimension.

"I got to see where I rank!" Rin quickly left the area and made his way back to the leaderboards.

Rin had to avoid the people because of how many there were. He finally made his way to the leaderboards and there was a crowd that were similarly looking at where they were placed.

Rin gazed upon the number one spot.

"John Smith.." Rin repeatedly read the name in the number one slot.

'Wasn't this that guy I killed? Perhaps they have the same name.' Rin sighed. He thought for sure he would be number one, but on further examination he was number 90! The leaderboards only went up to 500!

"Sigh.. well now that I'm done looking at the sexiest sand speck, I may as well see how I rank upon the regular leaderboard."

"20?! That's still far too low! I understand being 90 on the sexiest but overall I am lower than 19 other people! That's outrageous!" Rin wanted to curse whoever created sand MMORPG but couldn't. There was no one to take his frustrations out on!

He had no choice but to accept it.

"Achievements unlocked. Guilds unlocked. Fame unlocked." The system announced once more.

As everyone was focused on the leaderboards, a man in shorts without a shirt walked into the crowd. Around him were robed men, the same ones Rin had met when he first arrived here.

On further examantion.. the shirtless man looked exactly like Rin's teacher!

"Gret out of my way heehee" He said with a perverted smile on his face. The robed men then began to beat the ever living shit out of anyone unlucky enough to be nearby at the time.

The man walked up to the leaderboards and saw where he was.

"Number 5.. not bad. Well, its sure to go down after more players arrive." Rin's teacher internally sighed. This wasnt the same teacher Rin knew and loved.

This man was the same man from a parallel universe where he has his own religion dedicated to him and he rules the entire planet.

The man's name in that world was Gerald..

Gerald locked eyes with Rin for a short second and then left with his robed men.

"That guy.. he has potential." Gerald whispered to himself as he exited.

"What the fuck?" Rin questioned.

"Welp. May as well see what achievements I have unlocked. You know the drill system!"
