Chapter 4

Mrs Reed arrived at her destination by 7:08pm. She looked around her. The place looked creepy. She gulped hard and looked in front of her. There was an old looking cottage there. Slowly, she walked towards it and knocked on the door. When she got to it, the door creaked open on its own. She gulped nervously and went inside.

"Wow!" She said as she looked around the house.

It was very beautiful and well furnished. It looked nothing like the outside.

"Surprised at how the interior looks?" A voice asked from behind her.

She turned around expecting to see an old lady. The woman before her was a pretty young lady perhaps in her early thirties. Mrs Reed nodded. The lady laughed.

"You won't believe my age if I told you."

"How... How old are you?"

"I'm ninety-six years," the lady said and laughed again because of the expression on Mrs Reed's face. "Well, my name is Londyn. I've been practicing black magic since I was twelve. I'm a necromancer and a black magician. Oh! I use magic to make myself younger."

"Oh, I see," Mrs Reed said. "I'm..."

"Christen Reed?" Londyn completed her sentence for her.

"Yes," Mrs Reed said with surprise written all over her face.

Londyn laughed. Seems like she loves laughing.

"You're here because of your daughter, Samantha Reed," she said.

"Wow! You... Are... Good!" Mrs Reed said.

"I'm an expert," Londyn said with a wink. "So tell me what you want me to do for you."

"Sammy was my only child. She was all I had. Two weeks ago, she was murdered. Well, it hasn't been proven that it was murder but I know for a fact that it was."

"Ouch... So painful," Londyn said.

"I want you to invoke her spirit so that she will avenge her death because the police are no longer on the case."

"Hmm..." Londyn said and was quiet for a while. "You said it has not yet been proven that she was murdered, right?"

"Yes."

"Then how are you sure that she was killed?"

"There was an eye witness and the witness happened to be one of her bullies. The story she told the police is not convincing to me. She said that Sammy fell off the rail on the ninth floor while taking pictures. My Sammy would never do such," Mrs Reed explained.

"Hmm... That explains it. Well, there's only one way to find out if it was really a murder," Londyn said.

"And what's the way?"

"I'll have to summon her spirit."

Mrs Reed nodded. Londyn began chanting some words. After minutes of chanting, Londyn stopped and looked at Mrs Reed who looked inquisitively at her.

"What happened Londyn?"

"Your daughter was a kind and peace loving girl, right?"

"Yes, Londyn."

"That's the problem. Her spirit is too strong to be summoned with black magic."

"What? What do you mean?"

"Sammy's spirit can't be summoned easily."

"So what are we gonna do?"

"It'll take a lot of time but I have to keep trying," Londyn said and continued chanting.

After what seemed like forever, Londyn stopped chanting and looked at Mrs Reed with a smile. And that was when Samantha's spirit appeared.

"Uh! Sammy! My Sammy!" Mrs Reed called in tears and rushed towards her.

"Stop!" Londyn yelled and Mrs Reed stopped immediately. "You can't go near her."

Londyn looked at Sammy while Sammy kept her gaze on Mrs Reed.

"Mom!" She called, almost in a whisper.

Tears streamed down from Mrs Reed's eyes as she looked at her daughter.

"Your daughter was cute," Londyn smiled and without wasting much time, she began asking Sammy some questions.

"How did you die?"

"I fell from the ninth floor of my school building," Sammy replied.

"Was it by accident? Or... Did someone push you?"

Sammy was quiet. She looked at her mother who was in tears and felt sad.

"Speak up, Sammy," Londyn urged.

"Actually, I was pushed."

"I told you Londyn. She was killed," Mrs Reed cried.

"Yes, I was pushed but I think they didn't do it intentionally."

"They? How many were they?"

"Six."

"Oh wow! Do you know them?" Londyn asked.

"Yeah. They were my bullies."

"Okay! I've gotten what I wanted."

"What are you gonna do?" Sammy asked.

"Now that I've summoned your spirit, I'm gonna make you avenge your death."

"But why?"

"Because your mother asked for it."

"Mom."

"You don't have to say anything, Sammy," Londyn said.

"But they didn't do it intentionally," Sammy protested.

"Oh! Is that what you think? You're really naive Sammy," Londyn said.

"Sammy, you have to take revenge. They killed you. I can't bear to see my daughter's killers go scot free. They must pay," Mrs Reed said.

"But mom..."

"No buts. Londyn please do what you have to do," Mrs Reed said.

With that being said, Londyn chanted some words and began performing black magic.

"You shall no longer be the kind and  loving girl you used to be

You'll only be filled with vengeance  and hatred for your killers!

A day of torment for them and after that, their deaths!"

After a while, the ritual was over. Sammy had a dark aura surrounding her

"It's done," Londyn said.

"Thank you so much, Londyn," Mrs Reed said.

Londyn smiled.

"Well, she has only two weeks on earth. She has to kill them before the two weeks elapses or else, she'll return to the underworld."

"I'm sure she'll finish her task before then."

"Hmm... Well, no one else can see her except the ones she has to kill and you."

"Ok. Thanks alot," Mrs Reed said.

It was late already, after paying Londyn, she went back home feeling satisfied and sad. Of course Sammy didn't go with her in the taxi. When Mrs Reed got home, she was surprised at whom she saw waiting at the door.

"Jade?" She called.

Jade had a sad look in her eyes.

"Hey! What's wrong, dear?" Mrs Reed cooked.

Jade immediately burst into tears while Mrs Reed tried to console her.

"Did your parents have a fight again?" She asked and Jade nodded.

Mrs Reed sighed heavily and opened the door. They both went in and sat down in the living room. Jade told her about her parents. That was the one thing she dreaded the most about them. They were always at loggerheads with each other. She grew up watching her parents fight almost every day. The view always made her cry.

"You know, each time I run away from home due to my parents' arguments and fights, I always come here," Jade said.

"Yes, I know."

"And Sammy always found a way to make me feel better. I really wish she were here. Everything would have been fine. I miss her alot. I really mother," Jade said in tears.

"Oh, come here," Mrs Reed said and embraced her.

She saw Sammy standing in a corner watching them in sadness. She felt the need to tell Jade about Sammy but she brushed it off. Slowly, they disengaged from the hug.

"You can sleep in Sammy's room," Mrs Reed said.

"Thanks, Mrs Reed. Good night," Jade said wiping her tears. Then she went to Sammy's room.

Mrs Reed sighed heavily and looked at Sammy. She went towards her. Sammy could see the sadness in her mother's eyes.

"I'm sorry, mom for leaving you and Jade. I'm really sorry."

"You shouldn't be apologizing. It's not your fault you're dead," Mrs Reed said and made to touch her but it was futile because she was a ghost.

"It's quite late , mom. You should go to sleep."

Mrs Reed nodded and went to her room. Then Sammy went to her room. She saw Jade crying while looking at the picture of both of them.

She wished that she could see her or even hear her at least. Seeing her in tears made her angry with Claudia and her cohorts.

"Sammy, if you were here with me, everything would have been fine. I would have been so happy. Why did you have to die? You do not deserve it at all. I miss you, Sammy," Jade cried.

"You don't have to worry, Jade. I'm gonna make my murderers pay. They'll pay for sending me out of the world. I'M COMING FOR THEM!" Sammy said with hatred in her eyes.
