Chapter 47

"Here, you can test the weapon."

When we arrived at the clearing where Ozpin told me, I gave them the rifle I had created. This rifle I created from the leftover blueprint from the Overwatch tech tree. Because of the power of a Tinker, most of my creations cannot be recreated even when they copy all of my movements.

That includes the Overwatch tech tree.

Because of this reason, I decided to change the blueprint a little bit and let it be mass-produced. It did not have the same firepower as the weapon that Soldier 76 used, but it was still useful. Many weapons being sold in the market can also surpass this weapon in terms of firepower, but it had one massive advantage that the other gun did not have. It did not use dust as ammo.

"It has the same mechanic as your regular machine gun. Pull the trigger, and the bullet will be released from the gun. There is a button at the back when you need to reload."

After saying that, I take my own rifle and aim at the tree in front of me. The first bullet creates a crack in the tree trunk.

"The default mode is non-lethal. You can switch the mode by clicking the switch on the left side of the weapon."

I flick the switch and fire another bullet. This time, the bullet pierced through the tree without a problem. I can see both Qrow and Tai do the same and fire the gun. A second later, seven trees have a massive holes in them.

"This is all good, but there must be a reason why you decide to hire a hunter, right?"

I look at Ozpin and nod my head.

"Yes. I want to test these weapons in combat."

"I see. You want us to hunt a Grimm, huh?"

I look at Tai for a second before shaking my head.

"No. I want us to defend against a Grimm."

"What do you mean?"

I create a dark symbol that appears on my fingertips before speaking.

"This is a burst of negative emotion. I can create a burst of negative emotion that will lure Grimm here."

"What?! Please tell me you are joking."

I shake my head and say,

"I'm not. This ability of mine can create a symbol that can attract Grimm. Don't worry. I can deactivate it immediately when our situation gets worse."

I look at Ozpin, looking at my sign in interest before saying.

"What do you think?"

After thinking about it for a few seconds, I can see Ozpin nod his head and say.

"Very well. It's been a while since I had a proper Grimm fight. Do it."

I nod my head and create a stone wall for us to stand. We need the high ground in this fight as we are relying on a long-range weapon. After creating the platform for us to stand on, I quickly put the sign on the ground.

"It will not work for another ten minutes. Before then, let me show you how to reload."

~Ten minutes later~

I can see the sign start to glow brighter, meaning that it is ready to spread the negative emotion around. In the last ten minutes, I already prepared the recharge station for the ammo we use, even though I made a large amount of ammo in this test.

Elizabeth will be the one that handles recharging the ammo for us when the ammo gets low. This recharge station will allow recharging the ammo at high speed, but we can only recharge the case containing the compressed energy three times. If recharged more than three times, it will be melted.

However, it should be enough.

I snap from my thoughts when I hear a thumping noise coming from the distance.

"They are here."

Ozpin fired his gun and was rather surprised that it easily punched through the Grimm's armor and skin. It takes a few bullets to punch through, but it was as expected. Only a high-caliber weapon can do that.

After killing another wave of Grimm, Ozpin reloads the weapon with fresh ammo.

They are really lucky that this location did not have a very powerful Grimm, Ozpin thought. The Grimm in this area is mostly a low to medium threat Grimm. The only Grimm that has a high threat is the Nevermore and Death Stalker; even then, it was far in between as only a few of them appear at the moment.

While fighting the Grimm, Ozpin couldn't help but smile because it's been a while since he had this much fun. He usually only takes care of the paperwork and thinks about how to fix the mess the Vale's Council makes.

However, here, on the battlefield, he can get loose and can relax. He really hopes that he can only do this activity and not scheme to counter all the Grimm Queen's attacks. He wants a job that is simple and straightforward.

While Angelo, Ozpin, Tai, and Qrow fight the horde of Grimm coming at them, there is a meeting in the lone castle in the middle of the Land of Darkness. Salem looks at her minion with a frown on her face.

"It looks like your plan has failed, dear Cinder. You said that no one could thwart your plan. You said that your plan is foolproof, but here we are. What do you have to say?"

While Salem says that word in a small and soothing voice, the aura around her tells otherwise. The black energy around her tells that she is mad, very mad.

"M-my lady! I can still salvage this! We still have a large stock of dust in the warehouse, and we can continue this plan. P-please just one more chance."

Salem looks at Cinder silently, and the entire room gets even more tense by her silence. After a minute of silence, Salem looks at Cinder right in the eyes before saying.

"Very well. I will give you one last chance. This is the last chance, Cinder. I don't want to see anymore failure coming from you."

"Thank you, my lady! I will not disappoint you."

"HOWEVER, I will tweak your plan a little bit."

A tattoo appeared on Cinder's hand with a snap of her finger. It was the personal symbol of Salem.

"That symbol will let you control the Grimm. Gather as much Grimm as you can and attack Vale. I want you to get the power of Autumn in a month."

"A-A month?"

"Yes. I will give you one month. Gather as much dust as you can and blow the wall of Vale. You can use the Grimm to distract the hunter and huntress."

"T-Thank you, my lady. I'm sorry for asking this, my lady, but how much Grimm can I control?"

"Five thousand of them. You can control ANY Grimm you want as long as it was not more than five thousand of them. Choose your Grimm carefully."

Cinder smiles a little and vows to herself that she will fulfill her lady command.

The canon story has already been thrown out of the window and beaten to death. The breach of Vale will be happening faster than in the canon, and Vale's doom will be happening. However, Salem did not know that the pawn she thought was not important was the biggest obstacle she had.
