Chapter 2

It had been three month since Reid started attending the academy. When the news first spread that the son of the clan head passed the early entrance exam, there was a small celebration.

It's been many generations since someone in the village showed that much potential and they were ecstatic about it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Reid was currently on his way back home from the academy. He had been looking forward to the academy for some time but he couldn't help but be disappointed upon starting.
It was weird at first being the youngest person in the room but he quickly learned to ignore the stares. What got him disappointed was the fact that for the last three months he had been taught theories only. Theories that he was already knowledgeable of.
He had been moved up a class after a month of being in the academy but it didn't make a difference seeing as how they still taught nothing that he didn't know. That, added to the fact that he was very young attracted the title of prodigy from the instructors.
Even his mother had been pleasantly surprised by his 'potential'. Today was the last day of theoretics before the move onto actual training. He only qualified to join the training due to the fact that he was way ahead of his peers and even some upperclassmen.
Although it had been disappointing, he had picked up one thing that was of great importance; the Sharingan. Just like the Schnee semblance, it is hereditary but with one big difference.
Not every Uchiha unlocks the Sharingan. When an Uchiha discovers their semblance, it would either be the Sharingan or a completely different semblance on its own. Not every Uchiha unlocks the Sharingan.
The amount of people who possess that Sharingan is less than half of their population and the number of those who have a fully matured one are even less. The Sharingan can only evolve in situations of heightened emotions.
His mother was one of such people who possessed the Sharingan. She wasn't a warrior but she experienced her own share of turmoil.
He shook his head clear of those thoughts as he finally reached his house.
"I'm home!" He voiced out as he entered. The house was silent for a while. She was normally awaiting his arrival to welcome him.
"Mom?" He called out worriedly as he went deeper into the house. As he searched the house, he saw that the door to his room was open wide. What took his attention was the fact the shadow of a figure that bore no similarities to his mother which was made visible by the light coming from the room.
He had no weapons on him seeing as how nobody in the clan would dare attack him due to him being the next in line to lead the clan. He quietly hurried away from the corridor and made his way to the kitchen.
Grabbing a kitchen knife, he stalked back to the corridor leading to his room. His leaned on the wall just beside the open doorway, steadying himself as he gripped the knife tightly.
He quickly turned the corner, holding the knife ready only to see...his mom...wearing a puffy winter jacket? The big lumps he had mistaken for muscles were puffs from the jacket.
He quickly hid the knife behind his back before tossing it into the inventory.
"Oh! You're back from school already! " She said cheerfully as she noticed him standing at the doorway.
"What's behind your back?" She asked cluelessly. His mind raced for a moment before calming down, remembering that the tool of dismemberment was no longer in his hand.
"Nothing." He replied convincingly. She looked skeptical for a second before pushing that thought aside.
"Anyways, I'm going on a trip for a while so you're going to have to stay with Cyrus and his kids for the time being." She said as she pull off the puffy jacket, showing the normal top beneath. It seems that she was in the process of selecting through clothes.
He then noticed an open box with clothes and other necessities lying behind her.
"But I don't want to stay with them." He said, childishly puffing his face.
"And why not?" She inquired amused.
"They're dumb" he replied blankly, only to receive an even more amused look.
"Just because you aren't on the same level doesn't mean that you can't have fun." She said trying to convince him.
"They're not fun either." He deadpanned. And he wasn't lying. Their idea of fun were pillow fights and competing for who eats faster.
She looked at him for a while before sighing in exasperation. He had a look of hope on his face as he saw her expression.
"Fine! I don't leave for three weeks. Your class physical test is coming up around then. If you manage to score the top in the rankings then you can come with me." She said, expecting him to look dejected of at least sad. After all, he was now in a class with people who were more physically developed than he was and they would surely pose a difficult if not impossible challenge for him.
Instead of a dejected look, she got a very determined one that she had never seen before. At least she had never seen it in someone of such young age.
'He must really not want to stay with them.' She mused internally.
[*Ding!*]
[Mission Objective: Rank at the top of your class in the physical exam!]
[Reward: 10 Stat points, Skill book.]
Looking at the mission displayed in front of him, he was even more determined to do it.
'I've put off training for a long while. Salem, Ozpin, the white fang. All are potential threats in the future and bear a reasonable amount of power. To be able to carve my own path strength is a necessity.' He thought with a determined look which softened up when he saw his mother looking at him in encouragement.
"Let's forget about that for now. More importantly, who's ready for lunch!" She said as she pulled Reid out of the room and towards the kitchen.
'But some things are more important at the moment. Even though it's only two of us, I wouldn't change it if I could.' He thought with a content smile as he allowed himself to be pulled.
"Me!" He exclaimed in response as they made their way to the kitchen hand in hand.
