"What took you so long?" one of the men asked with impatient anger, as Lucas opened the door of the underground passage.

"I apologize for the delay," Lucas said, as he shoved the key into the man's hands. He had recalled Alpha Ryder making him the head of the invaders, but he hadn't bothered asking him his name. Besides, he wasn't going to be part of the fight.

"Do you care to share what those complications could have been?" the man asked curiously. "Just in case it's something that we have to look out for."

"No, it's not," Lucas replied hurriedly, as he was focused on getting out of there. He had done his part, and that was all that mattered to him. It would be unnecessary bothering himself with the outcome of the mission.

Apart from that, the thought of Edna's prediction had him scared of even staying in there for one more second. He had to get going, back to Selene, who was probably worried sick about him.
