Honey

I was out in the forest hunting, it was my turn to hunt, which I didn't mind at all. I enjoyed the solitude and quite which it never was back at home. Our kind went deep into the forest where humans didn't dare tread. We were hunted at first but, after a few incidences of wolves going feral from mates or children being killed or captured, they measured the risk outweighing the profit. Werewolves weren't rare enough and though our blood and bones had regenerative and age reverting properties, there were easier targets for those things.

I trotted along the stream in my wolf form, letting my hunting drive take over. Keeping my snout to the ground I caught the scent of a deer and I was following the trail when the wind picked up and something practically flew by and was laughing? Then the smell of honey almost knocked the wind out of me and everything i was doing fell from existence.

"MATE!"

the voice in my head reverberated and again I was on the hunt, but not for food. I dashed through the trees following the sweet smell of honey, she was faster than any human but she didn't look any different from one. Me and my wolf picked up the pace, whatever she was I'd have to go much faster.

I had finally got close enough to her that she noticed my presences and she came to a screeching halt. A cloud of dust surrounded her blocking her from view but I knew she was there in the center of chaos. I shifted to my human form and i heard her voice ring across the forest.

"Show yourself now or I'll kill you before you know which way is up!" confidence and certainty threaded her words but also held a hint of curiosity. I smirked and my wolf was getting antsy because he wanted to play, and so did I. I sprinted up to her so fast she didn't know I was there until I was directly behind her.

"Now why would my beautiful mate want to harm me...." I whispered in her ear, and I ran my hand down her arm, her skin prickled at my touch. I laughed and put distance between us to watch her reaction. As the dust started to settle she came into view. Her caramel skin almost made her seem to glow in the dappled light, her ringlets of blond and brown swirled hair cascaded over her form. It was her eyes that entranced me. The richest shade of green I had ever seen and I couldn't look away. a light breeze came and that delicious scent of honey wafted to me and I almost went to her. The sound of barking dogs ruined our moment and shook me out of the trance and, in that split second, she ran. I felt the panic in her rise and I knew the M.H.C. was after her.

"Protect Mate!"

My wolf shouted in my head as I bolted after her. I burst into my wolf form and quickly caught up to her, I reached to her through my mind hoping she was open to me and she was!

"Come this way, I will keep you safe and I can mask your scent if we stay close together."

I saw her glance at me as we ran, she finally saw my wolf and she was smiling! but a moment later she frowned and I felt the wave of jealousy roll of her and I smirked.

"Oh my mate is a jealous one I see, I guess ill have to show you I have eyes for only you when this run of ours is done" She glared at me a bit but it made her look so adorable. her cheeks turned red and a hint of arousal mixed with embarrassment rolled of her. I made noises that would have been laughter had I been in my human form.

My mate liked what she saw and me and my wolf were happy for her approval! her cheeks reddened a bit more but she nodded and groaned some but otherwise kept quiet as I took the lead on this run. I'm taking my mate home to safety away from those disgusting humans. something unfurled in my chest pulling us closer and I almost wined in relief. I finally found my home.
