The Anomally

Year X020, there was a guy named Trevor, a high school boy in his senior year. He was hard working and responsible for he is the oldest among his two siblings. Living in a country-side which is hours of travel away from the city, with his mother. It was a happy family, even so, tears are hiding behind those lovely smiles.

Just a few months, ago, his father died in an accident, or so as the authority said. They know to themselves that something is misleading about the event that still hunts them up to this day.

It's about time to go to school when there was a suspicious letter sent to their house, the same as every other house. The letter is as it reads...

"Attention! This is a special letter, for this can assist your family in times of need and privacy. It is your SPS or Security and Protection System. By the time this letter enters your house's proximity, it's already registered in our database and will be monitored via satellite and surrounding security cameras, to prevent any unwanted events. And in times of disaster, we will also be able to warn you directly for what will happens in 30 minutes ahead of time. This is a project done in Article 10 of the Personal and Social Security Act of X020, signed by the current President Germano Laxamana. -(SSPC)Social Security and Protection Commission"

"And here the government once again. Making another way to take our money", Trevor said to himself. "Ma, I'm going now!"

"Wait, you almost forgot your lunch.", his mom said while carrying his younger sister.

"You don't have to do this to me, I'm a senior high school now and I assure you that I can take care of myself.", he said empathetically.

"I know but, ever since your father...", she stopped and started crying. "I've seen you sitting in your room no doing anything... and that... that worries me... for I know what you and your father have been through as you... grow."

"I know what you feel about me and yes he is dead but we know that we can't save him anymore and all that we can do is stand and move forward.", he said then embraces his mother. "We can walk through this together as a family.", he said with a tear falling from his eyes.

His mother looked him in the eye and wiped the tear and she said, "You're just as wonderful as your father.". The younger one walks towards them and hugs both of them. "Let's cut the drama there and you're going to be late for class, take your lunch and get going."

"Thank you Ma, see you later.", he said and went out on his way.

At the school, after the second class. Trevor overheard a conversation on the back row. "Have you heard about the rumors around the internet? About those photos of strange lights around the world? They appear everywhere and as far as I heard, the same light was also spotted here. Some say it's photoshop, some say it's aliens, some say it's a natural phenomenon. But whatever it is it's still unsettling..."

As he was listening he was interrupted by the class president, "You've forgotten to pass your lectures... again...". "I told you, I can't be online since my phone was broken and you're only sending copied of lectures on our class' group chat.", he responded. "Then you could have asked me, it's been a week and you still haven't finished it."

"It's already been a week? Well, who cares, so can I borrow your notebook so that I can finally do my lecture."

"Say 'Please' first.", she said. "This girl", he thinks to himself with a bit annoyance. "This is why I don't always talk to you.", he uttered. "I'm just joking, here.", she giggled and give Trevor her notebook. "By the way...", she said, "Have you heard about the news?".

"About what?", he asked. "About the peculiar thing happening lately.", she answered

"About those light shows and things? Those are just another way to make people pay for the government without actual threats",

"Look I know why you are mad about the government but this is not manipulated by the government in any way, shape, or form. Take a look at this video taken from 2 days ago.", she said convincingly then she took out her phone and showed the video and some pictures. "This video is from when I was buying some snacks at 2:00 AM..."

"Wait! Why are you buying food and still awake at 2:00 AM?", he interrupted.

"Like you would like to know... Anyway... by the time I walk out of the mart... I saw the light coming from West to East and felt the trembling from East to West, as you can see in a pole right there swaying as the light passes by. And these are the higher quality images of those light... so... what do you think?", she said.

"Nah! I'm not buying it completely, there are just so many things that's of, one about you buying snacks at 2 AM and two how does that even make sense the clip is 2 minutes and the light went from slow to ultra-fast in just split second, there is no physical thing like that.", he said.

"It's ok if you don't believe me. But... I know one thing... nothing is normal anymore.", she said in a very serious manner. "I'll be expecting your notebook tomorrow okay!", and now with a cheerful tone.

The class is finally over and it's time to go home. As he was walking along an alley he saw a powerful flash of light right in front of him and shoot up to the clouds. The light starts to dance in the clouds but suddenly it stopped and flew toward the north in a blink of an eye, later on, an earthquake coming from the north like a 22 wheeler driving 2 feet away from a person. He fell to the ground "What in the world is going on?!", he said nervously and as he gets up he quickly ran into his house and see his mother in the bedroom hugging his two other siblings.

"Trey, what's going on?", his mother said nervously. Then after that, a loud helicopter passed over their house, then a group of armed men barged in their house. The whole family was forced in in two different vans, Trevor with his brother are separated from his mother and sister, the same as everyone in their neighborhood.

Inside the van, "What the hell's going on?", Trevor asked aggressively. Then one of the armed personnel took off his mask and answered, "It's an emergency, there is an anomaly and we have no choice.". "YOU'RE NOT ANSWERING MY QUESTION?!!!", he shouted then grab the man by his suit. "We have to if we don't...", then a powerful explosion happens not that far away from them.

"Why are you bombing the place?! Is this what the government wants now?",

"I don't care if you'll believe me or not but there is an invasion going and we need to save as many civilians as we can, 30% of the whole country has been wiped out already and the casualties are rising fast as we speak.", he explains viciously. Then another explosion happened right beside the van where his mother and sister are in.

"MOM!", he shouted.

"You don't have to worry much, cool down. These vehicles are made with the most durable material on earth, Those explosion will not do that much for them.", saith the man. Right after he talks, a giant pillar of rock spawned from the ground and falls down between the two vans blocking the other.

"MOM!!! AMY!!!", he shouted then tried to stop the car as his younger brother bites the arm of the man talking to them. Then he accidentally pushed the kid hard enough on the window to make him unconscious. Trevor became furious and grab the gun of the man in the front seat then point it at everyone. "Stop the car... NOW!", he demanded.

They stopped the car and unlocked the door. He was about to grab his brother when he was shot by a tranquilizer on his neck. He slowly falls asleep but not without a fight. He punched the man on his cheeks powerful enough to push him back. "Sorry kid, but it doesn't have to be this way.", the man said and Trevor falls asleep.

They continue on bringing the civilians to an underground facility on which almost all civilians that was left on their Region took shelter. They (the group who took Trevor and his family) should be the last ones expected to go back to the facility. From 12 vehicles that should be transporting survivors, only 5 went back and the other 7 was not able to catch up.

"512 on sight, I repeat! 512 on sight!", said the man patrolling the gates. They opened the gigantic solid gate and let them in. "Wait, there should be 12 of them where are the others?", asked the guard to the patrol. Then a guy that seems to be a commander shows up.

"What's going on here?", he asks

"The last squad are here Sir, but some of them are, what it seem to be, not with them.", the patrol reported.

He went down to check on the squad and waited in the parking station.

Here come the vehicles and from them, the guy who took Trevor comes out first. "You! Help my guys take these two with the other civilians.", he said to others what it seems to be soldiers.

"Yes, Sir!", saith them and obeyed his command.

"Sargent Polilio, what's going on here? Why are they out of consciousness and where are the rest of your squad?", the commander asked.

"It has started.", he said bluntly.

"I see... so... do you know where they could be then?", he asked emphatically.

"I don't know... There could be out there somewhere. Let's just hope that they were fine out there."

Right after the conversation ends. The commander spoke for everyone in the facility then give each of them a shot of sleeping serum. Then individually take them to peculiar-looking capsules. They were put in with oxygen masks on, and covered their body in a liquid substance.

As the civilians are fast asleep inside the facility, all soldiers; army, navy, marines, air force, all of them are waiting right outside the gate.

"Are you sure about this?", asked Polilio to Jacinto.

"Don't worry. The Facility is powerful enough to survive even a direct hit from a nuclear bomb.", he answered.

"Not that, are you sure that we'll be taking this head-on?",

"The president is dead and the country or even the world is falling now, but I must obey his last order. I have seen so many innocent drops of blood was spilled, I have seen so many bodies lying around. So... for the last time, I'll be sacrificing my life than to hide beside these walls that were not meant to protect warriors like me.", he said then a tear slowly falls down to his cheek.

"This is why I have acknowledged you as my father.", Polilio said.

Jacinto smiled and shouted. "This is for our country, our future. Let's protect them at all cost, don't spare any ammunition. Never take your finger off the trigger. Remember, this may be our last battle, but it's a battle that we shall never lose.", "Now, everyone ATTACK!!!"

At that moment, a moment of silence covered the whole place before the firing of the very first bullet. All land troops are pointing angular while the airstrikes are all pointing at a similar location, battleships and submarines are also firing missiles from a bay nearby. Everyone was firing all at the same time. There is nothing else to hear, continuous gunshot everywhere. After some time., the ground starts rising from afar but fast. They focused it all on a thing that was thought to be under the ground. Continuous explosions, endless rain of ammunition, missile flying from all directions. The movement stopped and the firing was on a halt after minutes of continuous firing.

But little do they know, all battleship suddenly starts exploding together with all submarines. Because of the confusion, they were caught off guard, and debris from the ground started shooting all flying units down. Then a powerful earthquake opens the land and swallowed up to half of the soldiers. It was very catastrophic that the commander was left in a total nightmare.

"No... no... this can't be...", he mumbles. "All of this... was for nothing???". But then he was punched by Polilio. "Why are you giving up now? We still have bullets. We still can do this.", he said.

"No, we can't survive this, most of our forces are gone and we don't have enough fire power to even slow that thing.",

"So, you really are just going to give up like that. Seems like this time you have forgotten your vow.". Jacinto looked up to him and Polilio said, "When a man lets a word out of his mouth it will be written on his grave."

When a piece of heavy rock was heading to the blind spot of Polilio, Jacinto picked the grenade launcher up and destroyed the projectile. "Being lectured back by a boy like you really is the most embarrassing thing ever. You win this round, so by the time this is over let's have a nice cold drink together.". They set all homing missiles, RPG grenade launchers, and 100 rotary machine guns all at the emerging ground. All of the explosive ammunition fires at the same time while the rest of the army are firing non-stop until they all ran out of ammo. After an hour of continuous firing, the buldge from ground disappeared. They all celebrated for the victory they thought they had, but then...

A powerful beam of light started showing from the ground up and the temperature started rising and the ground started to shake more violently. "Looks like this is as far as we can go...", Jacinto said.

"I think so too... hey as promised we'll be having a cold drink after this.", Polilio said.

"Like you can drink beer in heaven. Ha ha ha...", and they both laughed. "It really was a good life so hey, let's see who gets first to the other side. Is it going to be the father or the son?", Jacinto joked.

"Shut up. We'll I think all we can do know is just laugh at the thing up to the last moment.", he uttered.

Then the light started to grow bigger and more powerful, then a giant explosion eats everything nothing was left, even the facility was shaken because of that powerful explosion. Powerful enough to weaken the gates.

But after then a vague event was seen by Trevor as he is half asleep, he saw his brother being taken away from the capsule and fell again back to sleep.

Years have passed and the time grew old... The year is X106 and someone from a deep slumber opened his eyes again and now looking for answers for a new world he doesn't know.
