The Outlaw

The next morning.

Tower shared his breakfast with Cynthia once again.

"I will be heading out and won't come home for lunch. Make sure you eat properly." Tower kissed Cynthia on her cheek, took his old hat and left the house while it was still early.

Cynthia smiled as she looked at her husband's familiar departing back. When he finally left her vision she returned back into the house while chumming her husband's favourite tune. Music was quite famous in this world.

....

Tower walked through the familiar roads and reached the darkest street in the town. This street was named Melody Street, but contrarily to the name it was a street where the other side of the humans ran rampant. This was a street where outlaws were the kings.

Though Willow Town was called a town, it was in fact larger than some small cities. It's population was around 500 thousand and it's streets were long and spacious.

But Melody street though long, did not look spacious at all. Even though it was still early in the morning, the street was bustling with activity. The most populated being the Brothels.

As an underground leader in his past life, Tower felt at home when he saw the rampant and chaotic street. A smile creeped up on his face involuntary.

With the hunter's memories and his own experience, Tower figured out the rules of this underworld street within half an hour of his stay.

Right now Tower lacked both strength and information. Gaining strength in short time was a pipe dream so he set his eyes on gathering information.

The pub was a famous place where outlaws shared information, but Tower knew a better method.

He waited for 2 hours when his vision fell on an outlaw who swaggeringly left the Melody street. Tower followed the swaggering outlaw who was obviously drunk on liquor.

The outlaw turned and twisted around numerous streets walking towards the west part of the town which was quite decent. The Town's north had the best environment while its south had the worst. The outlaws usually gathered in the south but this guy was moving towards west making Tower guess something.

Moreover Tower noticed that wherever the outlaw went he would leave the residents bad-mouthing him, indicating that the outlaw often took this route. The powerless residents were obviously biased against these outlaws but they would only bad mouth these outlaws if they were familiar with them. After all why would you bad mouth a 'stranger' even if he was an outlaw.

After some discrete trailing the opportunity that Tower had been waiting for arrived finally. The outlaw took a turn into a dark alley. Tower who had been waiting for this chance entered the dark alley excitedly.

"Come out little kid! I know you are there."

Suddenly Tower's hair stood up and his heart palpitated. He immediately turned around and using his whole strength ran in the direction he entered. He wanted to escape as he did not understand his opponent.

But a moment later Tower found himself back in the dark alley. "A illusion?" Tower's spine felt a chill suddenly. This wasn't his first time being so close to danger, but it still made his heart cold. This showed how weak his resolve to accept death was.

Hiding away his nervousness, Tower looked around his surroundings. The alley was mostly dark, his opponent seemed to have an ability to turn his surroundings darker. But this wasn't a problem to Tower.

He had seven* Henock vision and could see his surroundings as clear as a day.

Tower's vision directly fell upon a dark shadow in the alley. But he soon averted them away as he saw the shadow moving towards him while moving in spiral pathway.

'He does not know that I can see him? I could use this!' Tower thought silently as his fear reduced. The unknown was scary, but once it becomes known, even the existence of Gods was not scary anymore.

Tower acted like a blind person in the alley trying his best to give the opponent a false belief about his sight. Luckily the opponent was fooled.

But suddenly Tower's brows furrowed. "This... wasn't this the drunk outcast? So this fellow knew all along that I was trailing him?" Tower smacked his lips in dissatisfaction. He was not worried that the opponent would find his actions strange as a blind opponent usually acted strange.

Tower saw as his opponent moved to a 5 metre distance from him. His opponent stopped abruptly and extended his hand towards Tower.

Tower suddenly felt coldness creep into his heart as he lost his senses. Strange murmurings that seemed to confuse everything could be heard inside his mind.

Tower's opponent's lips arched up into a devilish smile. His mind control had taken effect.

Suddenly, the Round Table that had been watching from the sidelines glowed brightly as chains extended out. These seemingly solid chains caught the strange murmurings and pulled them into it. Tower who had regained his senses saw as the Round Table gobble up these strange murmurings inside it.

But having already faced with dangerous situations, he composed himself quickly. He ran forward and smacked the confused Devil right in his face with his whole strength.

The strength of three humans and six Henocks assaulted the outlaw and he passed out instantly. Whatever the outlaw cultivated did not seem to increase his body strength and it was fairly easy for Tower to overwhelm his opponent once the illusion and mind control had failed.

Having passed through the strangest situation of his life, Tower fell down on his butt weakly. The strange murmurings had taken a huge toll on his consciousness before they were sealed by the Round Table. Tower was extremely exhausted.

But the Round Table did not care about Tower's situation. It summoned its chains and dragged the unconscious outlaw inside it.

...

Tower hurriedly left the alley and took turns and twists to move far away. Only after a full hour of twists and turns did he stop and relax.

He first jumped onto a roof of a nearby house and looked around. Finding what he wanted, Tower jumped from one roof to another until he came to the roof he had set his eyes on. This roof had a tent on top of it.

Then, he swiftly entered the tent that was placed on this roof and closed his already sleepy eyes to take a short nap, but before that he did not forget to transform into the outlaw.

....

By the time Tower awoke, it was already dark. He got up on alert and scanned his surroundings with his enhanced vision. Finding the location no different from the one in his memory he relaxed a little and hurriedly left the tent.

Right now Tower wanted to find a suitable place for him to concentrate on absorbing the outlaw's memories. With the outlaw's power in his grasp his battle strength had already exceeded the limits of humanity.

And the information the outlaw possessed became a priority. Tower soon found a dark and 'abandoned' alley to transform back into the hunter.

He took a different route to return to his house by dinner.

Thereafter he and Cynthia had a simple but harmonious meal. Their rations could keep up for one more week now that Tower was only eating to fill his appetite. If he cultivated body strengthening based on the energy from eating, the rations would not be enough for a single day much less a whole week.

That night Tower used the same excuse as being tired to get away from Cynthia when she initiated an intimate kiss. As she was a pious wife she did not show her dissatisfaction and reached for her dreams quickly, giving Tower some alone time.
