5. (UNCLE JOSH)

ROSE

"Let him rest, he's already tired" mum's voice stopped me from going inside the room.

I sneaked inside the room and saw my brother sleeping peacefully and less paler than before. I closed the door soundlessly. As I reached downstairs everyone stared.

"Now will you all please stop staring at me? I apologized" I said while sitting on the couch and rolled my eyes.

"Don't worry we don't believe you anyways" Jack burst into laughter.

"Seriously, that's not the right time for your meaningless jokes" I rolled my eyes.

Not a couple of minutes went by, someone jumped on the couch and I jumped half an inch off the couch and was about to fall off.

"You idiot, I could've gotten hurt, you ill mannered jerk" as I saw Max I shouted.

"Rose come here we need to talk" uncle Josh called me out of nowhere.

"I'm letting this pass, because he called me, next time you won't be spared" I twisted Max's ear.

"Why is he still here mum?" I whispered.

"Don't ask me, he's the one to tell you that, he's in your dad's study room" mum said while cutting vegetables.

I trekked towards my dad's study room. I'm sick of these lectures. God help me this time, I entered the room and found my uncle looking outside the window. After all, I can't escape my favourite uncle.

"Come in, and close the door please" uncle Josh gave me a warm smile, which released half of my tension.

"Is everything fine?" I gave him a confused look while closing the door.

"Absolutely, I just wanted to discuss something important," he said.

"I know you've a lot of questions, I'll answer them one by one"

"Okay, why didn't my parents tell me about this before?"

"They were about to tell you and Alex on their eighteenth birthday, but somehow you found out about it, you can't blame your parents, they want your safety as much as any parent would've wanted."

"Okay, so does anyone in the society know about us or not?"

"No, no one does so you better keep it to yourself, they all will find us a threat to them, no one can know about this."

"Are there others like us, and why are we all not living with them, instead we are living with humans."

"Yes there are, only your parents can tell you, but the main reason is the safety of us all."

"Does Jennifer and others know?"

"Yes they know, and about why they didn't tell you, because your parents didn't want to and I respect them both as my elders so couldn't disobey."

"Are we ever going to live with people like us, is there any place we have to go someday?"

"That's not of your concern now, when the time is right you'll see, there's a big world out there to explore.

"Now I think you don't have any more questions left?" he laughed.

"Yes I don't have, apart from that I'm shocked" I said.

"Let's go, your parents must be trying hard to listen to our conversation. After all, it's been an hour. I was expecting an outburst of questions but you're being very patient," he said while opening the door.

"Josh, I think we should discuss the new deals we have for upcoming days," dad said.

"Yes sure, why not big brother" he replied.

They both were busy in business management, while I inhaled the aroma of fried rice and chilli chicken, my stomach rumbled in hunger. Thankfully everyone was busy or that would be really bad.

"Yooo sis. what's up?" Max shouted in my ear.

"You're never going to change, idiot, think before you scream in my ear again like that, I would've lost my hearing" I slapped on his shoulder which caused us both to fall down on the couch.

"Get off me, you jerk you're so heavy" I pushed him off me.

"Don't make me come over there, stop screaming" mum warned.

I sighed when I saw 9:45 p.m on the wall clock. Tomorrow is the last day of school before winter vacation, after the final exams and I've to work really hard, so I can beat that miss fancy skirts "Chelsea" in class and break her heels. She taunts me and my brother when she gets only two marks more than us.

"Rose, wake up your brother, he's still sleeping" mum said.

"Okay, I'll be back" I replied while going upstairs to Nick's room.

He was sleeping peacefully, I slowly entered and stood beside his bed as guilt washed over me. I slowly moved his shoulder to woke him up but he didn't, I again moved a little faster and his eyes shot open, and I was one second away from screaming I instantly put a hand on my mouth, his eyes were full black the white part was gone, I moved back slowly and grabbed something in my hand unknowingly from his study table. As I looked his eyes were back to their blue color, and he was looking at me confusingly.

"Why are you holding my vase?" he asked slowly.

I looked at my hand and looked with disbelief, I should've realized this was the vase which mum gave him and it's his favourite, and why I don't know, I'm so dead.

"I'm sorry I didn't realize what I was holding?" I looked back.

"It's fine, I get it, you saw my eyes," he said while getting out of bed.

"Come on, I'll never hurt you, keep that in mind you're my little sister" he said while taking a vase from my hand.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean what I said earlier, you're not a monster, I'm sorry Nick" I said while tears trickled.

"It's fine, if you haven't apologized I would' ve forgiven you already, are we good?" he gave me a bear hug.

"Yeah" I walked outside the room with him.

"That's my kids, I know you'll be just fine, your mum worries too much," dad said while sitting at the table.

"Where is uncle Josh?" I looked around me.

"He left, your aunt had to go somewhere" mum handed me a plate as I sat.

We all ate in silence, thank God nothing unusual came up, but it felt right, Jack acted more mature than he ever did before. I washed plates after dinner and saw my brothers playing video games except Nick and Jack, they had already left the table.

"Enough with your game boys, go to sleep you've school tomorrow" dad took the cable out.

"Good night" Alex said and hit Max on his back.

"Good night kids" dad said while opening his laptop.

"Night" I closed my room's door.

JONATHAN

"Hope our little girl doesn't find out about how we hid her brothers shifting all these years, we should take it somewhere else" Isabelle said while handing me a coffee mug.

"Now I understand how she woke up, she didn't finish her glass of milk, she left some of it and that's why she woke up in the middle" she sat in front of me.

"You should've checked it, and I'm worried what if those sleeping pills become any danger to their health, Max is still thirteen" I put the mug beside my laptop.

"No, their immune system is stronger as compared to humans, this won't affect them, and it's only once in a month and they won't get affected," she told me.

"Then it's fine my beautiful wife, let's go to sleep, tomorrow we have so much to plan for upcoming holidays after all" I kissed her crown...
