Knight in a Shining Armour

"I see you haven't changed from your perverted ways, Ronald." I recognised that voice! Isn't that the man which I was with last night? Everyone, including me, looked at the man. A hood covered half of his face, but that damned, iconic smirk sold out his identity. He spoke again: "Finally I have a reason to kill you."

"Ha! Look at you, Vernon. You became the knight in a shining armour!" So that was his name, Vernon! What a priceless piece of information! Oh my, I am confused! I didn't have much time for confusion, as the mocking man shouted: "Get him, boys!"

I was finally set free, only to witness the men attacking Vernon. I got scared that they will kill him instantly, but he was fighting too well. I couldn't see much of it, but I saw bodies falling lifeless onto the floor. Their boss, had not been fighting. Apparently, I stabbed his dominant hand. But he wasn't standing idle. He threw my knife on the floor and took out a gun with his left hand, aiming at Vernon. I have to make a move now! I ran toward my knife, took grab of it and stabbed the coward right in the main artery of his heart without even thinking. I pulled out the knife and backed off as I saw the fountain of blood that I caused. Thanks Lily for this useful piece of information on how to kill a person immediately! Good thing she chose medicine and telling me what she learned every day. I have to treat her to an ice cream one day.

Bang! The man that I just stabbed still managed to shoot a bullet, thankfully into the air, but it grabbed the attention of the fighting men to me. There was still 2 men standing, excluding Vernon, and they rushed towards me. Thankfully they didn't have guns on them, as they approached me at an alarming rate with their knifes out. I was out of space to run to as I met the wall of the alley. The men were already close to me. I froze on the spot and I couldn't control my body anymore. Thud! The man on my right fell down, and before I knew it, a knife was thrown inches from my face right into the last man head. They were all dead now. The whole alley became a bloodbath. Looking at it made me feel sick. I hate seeing blood! There is a reason why I haven't chosen to study medicine! It was too disgusting and disturbing!

"Hey, are you okay!?" I heard Vernon's voice echoing somewhere in the distance. I lost my balance and was falling down onto the pavement. I waited for a painful impact, but instead I was caught by someone.

"Drink this." I obeyed and opened my mouth. I gained control over myself as he poured a bit of an alcoholic beverage into my mouth. I started to cough from it, but at least I could stand on my own. I still hate alcohol no matter what!

"Why didn't you wait for me!? Why, by the name of god, Wanda let you go alone!?" Vernon was enraged. He was even scarier with the hood on and I felt tears rolling down my cheeks. I was too scared to mask my emotions. His faced softened as he pulled off his hood.

"I got worried about you. Wanda shouldn't have let you go alone. I shouldn't have..." I couldn't hear the last part of his words, he was too quiet.

"Don't be harsh o your sister, I insisted on going alone." He wasn't listening to me. Instead, he was deep in his thoughts, murmuring words that I couldn't comprehend.

"Vernon." Calling out to him snapped him out of his world back to reality. He looked at me for a second, a frown took shape on his face.

"Yes? Are you feeling unwell? Have you been hurt? Did they do anything to you?" With every question, his anxiety grew. He came closer to me, wiping away my tears with his thumbs.

"I'm fine. Give this back to your sister, I don't need it." I showed him the knife. Vernon chuckled and said: "Keep it for yourself, as a souvenir." Why would I keep such a fancy, probably expensive, knife?

"But its incriminating evidence of me murdering someone! I can't keep it!" He looked at me as if processing my words. After a few seconds, he took the knife and a handkerchief, cleaning the former from blood. Once he was satisfied with his cleaning, he gave me the knife, refusing to take it back.

"Let me get you out of this hell hole."

Vernon escorted me all the way to the outside, normal world. The sun was shining upon the earth, blessing the world with a good morning. I saw a bus stop and I was relieved.

"Vernon?"

"Yes?"

"I don't think we should ever meet again. It will be dangerous for both of us." Not only that, I was scared that he might kill me too. After all, I am a witness of the massacre that took place in the alley. Yes, I was scared for my life because of a man who saved me. Who knows wether he turns against me or not? I would rather avoid him at all cost!

"I understand." His voice was gloomy.

"Then it is a farewell. Have a good day."

"Goodbye."

I walked towards the bus stop, not looking back even once. I couldn't look back.

I got on the bus and rode home. Sam is going to feel my wrath! It's all because of her!
