Chapter six

River

"WHAT," Oakley yells.

"I know, I don't like it either."

Oakley is furious, her face is like a tomato, "I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO CONVINCE HIM TO MOVE HERE!"

"I WAS! HE JUST CAME HERE AND THOUGHT I WOULD BE READY TO LEAVE!"

"WHAT?!"

I hear a twig snap, there's normally no wild life out here, I made sure of that. Oakley was about to start again so I put my hand out to stop her.

"What?" she asks in a normal voice.

"SHUSH, someone is out there."

I can hear whatever it is getting closer, and I think Oakley can too, cause she freezes. I see a figure moving towards us so I grab Oakleys hand and drag her to the darkest corner of the hut. I'm still wearing my black suit from the funeral so I put my hands on the wall to block Oakley's bright colors. Her face turns red and I'm pretty sure I know what she's thinking. I want to do it too. The rumbling gets closer and closer and then stops.

"Oh my god, girls look," it's in a whisper but I still know who it is.

"Becca I wonder who it is?"

"It's Barkley, and pet. Let's say hi."

The barge through the door and nearly break it, "Hello."

I move off of Oakley and she flies toward Becca. I grab her hand and drag her to me before she can hurt someone. She has fury in her eyes. I give her the most sympathetic face I can and she calms a little.

"Aw, so now I see Barkleys pet is more than a pet," Becca moves forward, "she's your dog."

I noticed something in one of her friend's hands, "You see I've been running on these paths to get ready for track and I noticed this shack on one of my runs, and pet here was in it. I've kept running this way ever since."

"Aww that's cute you have a crush," Oakley laughs at her.

"My point is," she snaps her fingers and the girl with something in her hand walks up, "I know what you mean to each other, and I know it's wrong," the girl hands her a whip, and I feel Oakley freeze, "Know sit," Becca laughs as she swings the whip, I push Oakley and me out of the way before she can get hit us. The whip hits the floor, and then rises again. I trip and fall onto the floor.

"OAKLEY GO," Oakley runs out the door just as the whip hits my back and rips through my coat, and I scream.
