Rising of the Pet System

A young man who was a slave for as long as he remembers finally gets set free into the world by a powerful devil as her servant. As named by her, he took Hades as a name and a way of life. As her hellhound unleashed on the world, she gave him a contract. The more he sacrifices for her, the more power she will grant him. What to expect? The world of Alseria is a ruthless world so don’t expect people to be just after power or be evil for the sake of evil. Each villain I wrote has a legitimate reason for his action, and by legitimate I mean something good. The MC: He isn’t a good guy neither he is evil. He just wants to get by, and occasionally ends up causing a disaster. His sense of morality isn’t like other people’s due to his upbringing and this story is about him trying to be normal. The MC Powers: He has abilities granted to him by the system, not magic. Even though magic exists and is prominent in the world, our MC doesn’t have the patience to sit and learn it. By the end game, he will have a total of ten powerful abilities (Which are addressed in the ten-chapter prologue) I decided to take the HP, MP, and SP from the system concept since they aren’t good indicators of physical capabilities. Instead, I exchanged them for visual indicators, like if the MC is stabbed in the chest, his health is probably too low to stand. I will keep a review so you can contact me easily.

Who cares?

Hades stared around him, the room was full of soldiers getting changed.

"What are you waiting for, those are your clothes." Cael pointed at the clothes set ahead of Hades. A pair of commoner clothes and shoes.

"Hades stared at him, those two?" He pointed at the shoes.

"It's either you wear them or I'm going to slice your head off, you've been barefoot the whole time," Cael growled at him.

"Fine by me, but wouldn't that woman be angry if I killed you?" Hades looked at him with a puzzled face. He immediately took the challenge on.

The other guards started laughing, "New guy, you're pretty sharp. Commander Cael is…" One of them tried to speak and then, CLING! His long beard fell on the ground.

Cael was playing with a knife in his hand, "Next your throat, get in line. The night shift is about to start!" He yelled at them.

Scared, the guard quickly put his armor on and ran out.

"What a failure, missed the kill when he was this close," Hades said and actually believed that. The guards barely held their laughs.

"I going to…" Cael growled, "Forget it, and get dressed already!"

After getting dressed, Cael guided Hades to an empty room with a single bed and a table. "This will be your home temporarily. Food will be brought to you soon so eat and get to sleep as will wake up early."

"Early after dawn, for work?" Hades glared at him with a questioning face.

Cael looked surprised, he didn't expect Hades to understand that so easily.

"That's right, see you tomorrow." Cael closed the door and left silently. That was easier than he expected.

'If he's serious about work like this, I might be able to overlook his attitude.' Cael thought.

Later that night, Eva woke at midnight looking to get a cup of water. As she walked past the window. Something caught her eyes, and for a moment she thought it was a red eyes devil.

After closer inspection, it was Hades on top of the guard's building. Squatting on the top, he stared at the city.

"I heard it, a scream," Hades said listening to the silent night. Screaming like the last time. If he heard it, someone was about to get killed. Favor it is.

'Need to reach it before anyone else, not like the last time.' He remembered how he got last to the wyvern attack.

Hades jumped from the building to check it out.

Eva stared at him, 'Where is he going? Better get Cael after him just in case.' She ran toward the guards' building.

…in the city slums, far away in the deepest corner where no one dares wonder at night.

"Shut him up! Out of all of them he screams?" Two men ganged on a half-tied man beating him in front of a lot of captured people.

"See, this is what happens if you dare scream. No one will help you here." One of the two kidnappers said looking at the captured with a grin on his face.

"The other should be here with the carriage, we get them out through the back entrance. It shouldn't be guarded," One of them said.

After they tied the man, they threw him at the other people bleeding. They stared in terror.

Aaa…

"I did hear something! Who's of you was about to scream?" One of the kidnappers approached the captured people. Looking through them, he saw a woman that was crying.

"Come here!" He pulled her by the hair, "Did you just scream, want to end like him? I know just the…"

CLACK! They heard the sound of bare footsteps approaching them. From the darkness, a young man appeared.

"Who's…guard insignia?" The kidnappers noticed the mark on Hades's clothes.

"Get away if you don't want to die. James, give him goodwill, and let's get done with it." The kidnapper said.

James approached Hades and extended a hand to him, he held a gold coin. Something that a guard might work for months to save up. "Go, you saw nothing."

SPLAT! The kidnapped people's faces turned pale, and the kidnapper who was facing them noticed blood splattering everywhere.

"What?" He turned around. Seeing his friend's skull splattered on the wall.

"You killed him, guards aren't allowed…" The kidnapper screamed.

Thud! Hades immediately rushed at him with [Repulsion] send a fist with [Attraction] and then finished it with [Repulsion]

It seemed as if it had happened at the same time. Hades rushed in and punched the kidnapper hard enough to crush his head on the wall.

{Favor: 100/1600 => Favor: 200/1600}

Thud! Thud! The remaining kidnappers reached the place to find their friends dead with Hades standing there.

"You're a guard, how could you kill a citizen?" They yelled.

Hades turned toward them, "I don't care."

Hades leaped at them, he kicked the first one with [Repulsion] killing him immediately.

As they saw Hade's ability to kill them with a single hit, they decided to run away. The mission has failed.

"You stop there! What is going on?" Cael blocked their way.

"Sir Guard, a murderer is behind us. He killed three of us." They said and Cael immediately spotted Hade behind them killing another person. Far behind him, a group of tied people.

Cael remembered the other day, he was to guard Eva in a patrol to inspect the surrounding farms. That mission got canceled due to a rumor about people being kidnapped and Eva's father refused to let her go.

"I see, so it was you bastards. The ones who caused the mission to be canceled." Cael smiled, pulling his sword out.

"Are you going to capture him, sir…Captain? Guard captain, yes please catch him." The kidnapper finally noticed the insignia on his shoulder.

Guards weren't supposed to kill, they are supposed to catch criminals and killing is a crime. The only people having the authority to decide if a criminal dies or live are; the city lord, the church, and the victim's family.

[Slash] Cael cut one of the kidnappers in half.

"You're the guard captain! How…" [Slash] Cael sliced him as well.

"You bastard kept kidnapping people left and right, lost a good opportunity thanks to you. Do you fucking know how much I prepared for that?" Cael said with an angry face. "Die, the fuck I care about your lives?"

The kidnappers looked terrified. When did the lenient guards become so ruthless? They never faced the captain before, was he different? No, was it a law that has changed?

Cael from one direction and Hades from the other, they ripped through the kidnappers, one after the other until only two were left.

"Let me kill them!" Hades yelled as Cael stopped him.

"No we can't, we need some alive to catch the rest." He tried convincing him.

"What do you mean?" Hades asked.

"We take those to a room in the guard post, beat the hell out of them until they tell us where their hideout is. With that, we can get more people to catch." Hades stopped struggling. With such a plan he could kill a lot more.

"Fine. Can't we beat them here?" Hades asked.

Both he and Cael started at the surviving two kidnappers.

"Not a bad idea," Cael said with a passive face.
