Rise to Fall

Jason was a hard-working young man and avid reader of WebNovels who had a solid routine. Wake up, Eat, Work, Read WebNovels, Sleep. Wake up the next day and repeat. One day, on his way to work, he finds a purple jewel that attracts him deeply. That same day, he kills himself in a strange way by jumping from the building where he lived. When he woke up, Jason found himself in a vast expanse of black void, lost and confused. His confusion didn't last long, as a figure soon appeared on the horizon and introduced himself to him as God. After a few setbacks and a curse attached to him, Jason is sent to Ukrat, a magical world of infinite possibilities. This world is going through its Ascensionist Age, an age where it is possible to ascend to a literal God. Thrown into this world, Jason has only his three requests granted to him by the God and a powerful purple energy to try to keep up with the absurd geniuses that are born left and right every day, explore ruins lost in the depths of history, deal with crazy legacies, survive his curse and survive this era where danger comes even from his own shadow. Ignorant, Jason remains unaware that the intriguing webs woven by a God are stronger and more complicated than they seem. Only fate will tell which is stronger, his will or the ropes that manipulate him. ------- This is a slow story. It will take me as long and as many words per chapter as it takes to properly write what I want to convey to you, my readers.

Meeting a God [2]

"You!"

"How dare you call me something so filthy?!"

The figure's screams resounded loudly in the Void, making me feel a wave of fear and tingling, even though I didn't have a physical body.

He was clearly furious with me for what I had said. I was shaking with fear, but I didn't want to give up.

'Whatever this monstrosity is, I can't stand by and let it do whatever it wants to me. I thought as I tried my best to find a way out of the situation.

An idea popped into my head as the gears in my brain turned at full speed, causing a spark of hope and determination to grow inside me. It seemed to be my only hope against whatever "it" was.

'Well, whatever, I'm already dead anyway. It can't get any worse, can it?

Taking a deep breath, I adopted a rough, out-of-order fighting stance as I stared into the void where the figure's eyes should have been.

Gathering as much courage as I could after scouring the core of my being, I spoke my bold words: "Come on, give it your best shot, but know that I won't go down without a fight".

My wobbly legs and limp arms betrayed my strong mouth, but I was doing my best here, okay?

Looking in my direction, the figure remained in place as if staring at the biggest idiot in the universe. His silence fueled the small spark of fear that existed in me.

The silence had been going on for a few minutes and, by then, the figure's mouth had magically disappeared, which confused me, because I had been staring at it the whole time and didn't notice when the hideous thing disappeared.

After what seemed like decades of torturous silence, the figure finally spoke again with obvious impatience in its voice.

"Jason, isn't it? Listen here. I'm not one of those bastards. This isn't hell and I don't have time for your antics. I'll forget what you said this time, but if there's another occasion..."

He didn't need to finish his sentence, my mind was already imagining the unpleasant results that would befall me if I dared.

Silently, I accepted his words with a small nod of my ethereal head as I undid my fighting stance, but I kept my guard up. The smile I saw made me faithfully believe that he was a demon, but I'll focus on the moment.

'I need to try and get some information from this demon... I mean, this thing or person.'

Seeing my nod, the figure continued speaking.

'Well, now listen. I'm a God and I'm here to grant you something you always wanted when you were still alive, something you craved madly. Reincarnation. Reincarnation in a world with magic, to be more specific."

Although his words echoed in my head, only a single word captured my attention after his speech. That single word made me forget all the unpleasant scenarios that could follow if I dared to challenge him again.

"You, a god? HAHA! Little devil, don't you know that it's catastrophic for a diabolical being like you to call yourself a divine being like God?" I couldn't help sneering out loud.

This guy had failed miserably in trying to seduce me with magical worlds. It may be that, while I was alive, I actually believed in these things, but now I couldn't remember a thing and this was nothing more than a load of drivel being spat into the wind.

My mockery was met by a fist hurtling towards me, too fast for me to react. It was so colossal that the galaxies themselves crumbled before it.

Unable to dodge, I was hit exactly where my stomach should have been, thrown at incalculable speed by the Void. The speed was so fast that, in my field of vision, I could see that the distance between me and the figure was already impossible to calculate.

Immediately, I felt the "air" that I didn't know I possessed being taken out of my lungs, a strange concept for someone without a physical body. In addition, I experienced a pain that my ethereal body shouldn't be able to feel.

This pain was beyond what words could describe, causing my consciousness to shatter the instant I felt it.

However, as if it couldn't dissipate like the rest, a small fragment of my consciousness remained there with strength, sustained by a purple energy.

That tiny sliver was the greatest misfortune that could have befallen me. Thanks to it, I felt all that pain in its fullest and purest extent.

Assaulting my senses, it felt like every single one of my atoms had been captured by something before being thrown into an old, shoddy shredder that needed three sessions before it could completely shred anything.

The level of pain I felt eating away at me at that moment was brutal, and what drives me crazy is that I can feel it vividly, I can clearly feel every bit of this atomic crushing.

Absolutely everything.

"I warned you. Now leave it there until I consider that you've paid for the words that came out of your mouth." The voice of the figure claiming to be God reached my tiny fragment of consciousness, leaving its message - which sounded more like a confirmation of doom - for me.

When I heard his words, an uncontrollable despair grew inside me, but it was soon erased by all the torment the pain was causing me. The act of thinking would only be a distant dream for as long as this torture lasted

"Oh, how could I have forgotten to tell you that, what a mistake!" His voice echoed again in my consciousness, with a touch of brutality this time.

"Remember what I'm going to tell you, Jason." Pausing so that I could prepare myself to absorb his words, he continued.

"The pain you're feeling now is just the beginning, it will get worse and worse until I decide to end it. So don't think that this will be quick as a warning, this is a punishment. And I decide when it ends."

"Enjoy!"
