Chapter 12

Before the end of the next day, someone appears in front of them. "Now some of you have noticed the increased mana density. Those of you that haven't, go to the back of the room."

Some are discontent and stay put where they are. With a wave of his hand the get sent to the back of the room, "We have been paying attention to you all this last week, so we know who hasn't and has noticed the increased mana density. Next up if you have formed what appears to be a sphere, that is a mana core. Those of you that have move to the front now."

After everyone that made a mana core has moved forward he says, "These are the three class distinctions as of now. Tomorrow we will determine class rankings. The top five of each class can challenge the last five of the next class. The ranking will determine a few things. You will come to understand the usefulness.

"After we determine class rankings we will give you two days of recovery. Then you're schooling will actually begin. In six months an exam will be held. Another six months and another exam will unfold. Then a three month break from school.

"Before we release you for the day, a form will be passed to each. The main classes you have to take are already listed. However there are electives to choose from. On your way out you will hand the forms to the person standing at the door," after finishing the man leaves the room.

On the form they see the classes. At the top are mandatory classes which include; magic core distinction, mana control, battle, physical training, monster identification and magic theory. Underneath is a number of electives. These include divination, forging, alchemy, enchanting, formations, ruins, talismans, healing, beast handling, taming, botanist, inscriber, and spatial manipulation.

On Vayu's form he marks divination, spatial manipulation, and talismans. Freyja goes for healing, alchemy, enchanting, and spatial manipulation. Amber goes for spatial manipulation, beast handling, taming, and formations. Nyx goes for spatial manipulation, forging, and ruins. Electra goes for spatial manipulation, botanist, and inscriber. After getting up they had to the door and hand their forms to the woman standing there.

The next day the arrive and head towards an arena. As they enter they are given a number with a letter next to it. Entering they are attracted to the center where there is currently within the arena there are sixty-four rings for fights to take place. Sitting down in the bleachers they await for all the others to arrive. After half an hour the same man from before appears, "You were all given a number and a letter. We will first go through those with the letter C. All of you head down to the arenas."

For most of the day Electra sleeps. The others talk to each, while Amber watches each fight with a bored expression. After lunch they are finally called up. "Now then those of you have the letter a will come down."

With a smile Amber appears in a ring right away. Many choose to stay clear of that ring. Disappointed Amber leans against the corner of the ring. Nyx appears in one ring. She slowly defeats opponents one after the other. The others do so as well.

Looking around at the battles her sibling are participating in she sighs. Wishing she could find someone to challenge her she waits. After a while all the battles stop and Amber sighs. With a sudden pull her ring and another are pulled towards each other with a smile Amber stands straight up. The person looks at her and says, "This isn't fair, how can I beat her."

Laughing the man says, "This is a tournament. You can't choose who to fight against."

"I forfeit then. I am not her match."

"You coward. I've seen ants braver then you," Amber scuffs. The guy tries to jump out the ring. With a bang he falls back into the ring.

"You seem to fail to understand. This is a tournament, how can we properly access someone's actual ranking if they don't even have to try in it," The man sighs.

"Sir, there is no point in fighting a little damsel in distress. Since they want to act helpless, they will always be helpless. These unfit people who purposely avoided the ring I stepped into have no spine."

"What you say has merit young one, however they can't improve if they don't even try."

With a sigh she walks up to the person across from and throws him out of the ring. This time the ring lets him through. Dazed he wonders why it let him through that time but not when he tried. After some time it had come down to just eight people. The five siblings and three others.

One of them looks over at Amber and shakes. One looks over at her and smiles. The last one glares at Amber. Noticing the glare Amber smiles back with a tilt of her head. Looking over at the others the one that smiled at Amber shakes his head. Looking at the others the one sighs thinking 'I am in no way a match for any of them. I just hope I don't have to face Amber.'

The last one doesn't pay any attention to all the rest. She is upset at Amber for saying they are helpless, spineless, and damsel's in distress. Looking down at this the man sighs, 'Those five are to much for any of their peers to handle, except one. One is unsatisfied with her remarks of calling them essentially worthless little cowards with no spine. Those five won't fight each other they already know which each one of them is compared to the others. However the rest will be unsatisfied if I don't have them fight each other. Oh well.'

Waving his hands the arena's move. Electra pairs up with the one that smiled at Amber. Amber pairs up with the one that has been glaring at her. Vayu and Nyx appear across from each other and shrug. While the last guy sighs a breath of relief that he doesn't have to face Amber.

Shaking his head the man in the sky says, "So many didn't even try. Why are you all so spineless that you let one measly person effect your courage so bad. I'm disappointed in the whole lot of you. Now then we shall see what these eight have to offer. Since none of them really struggled against other opponents. Maybe you all will learn a thing or to. Those of you who just let yourselves get thrown out the rings will be starting with a deficit of one hundred points. Those of you who directly chose to avoid the ring with her in it will receive a deficit of one hundred points. If you had done both, you will be given both deficits.

"No I will not explain what those points are, your other teachers will explain it to you. Those of you who think I should also give those four punishment for avoiding her arena, I will not. Now some of you may think its unfair, but I don't care. When it is time for your physical training and battle courses I will be there. I am ruthless with taking away points. I also don't easily give points.

"Now then let the battles begin."
