Chapter 52: Vassal

Rosario and Naomi looked to both Soto and Tormund for the answers they sought in having Naomi become Rosarios vassal. Glancing at each other Soto spoke up.

"To become a vassal of another for nobles is quite easy, as you are still a noble you are given perks that most regular people are not given. If we were to make an agreement with a noble we would need to sign a contract, for the two of you as long as Naomi swears by the collective it will recognize her oath and make her a vassal under you."

Tormund continued where Soto left off.

"You both will receive a notice with he details you have both agreed upon. You will need to both agree to the notice for it to be recognized by the collective."

"Is there any benefit to doing it that way instead of just writing up a contract for us to sign on vellum?"

"There is, currently I am assuming you both can level up your collective noble titles by gaining more followers."

Seeing both Rosario and Naomi nod Tormund continued.

"That will change, instead of having followers, it will be a mix of vassals and land governed for Rosario and for Naomi it will be whatever title Rosario decides to give her under his own. I am assuming that when you both sign this Rosario will become a Baron while being able to appoint Naomi as a Knight."

Looking at Naomi, Rosario asked.

"Are you sure you want to do this; I don't mind being allies without you becoming my vassal."

Shaking her head, Naomi replied.

"I am sure, my gut is telling me this is the right decision. Let's do this."

"You both agree to the provisions set forth by both."

"Yes."

"Yes."

In the event of Lady Naomi becoming Lord Rosarios Vassal the following will be noted:

Lady Naomi will be allowed to keep and conquer her own land. This land will be under the rule of Lady Naomi but will fall under the umbrella jurisdiction of the Morlux Clan lead by lord Rosario. Both Lord Rosario and Lady Naomi are duty bound to provide each other support not only militarily but also economically, culturally, and spiritually. This support can be given in many forms, neither party is to withhold support from the other unless this agreement is mutually cancelled. Lady Naomi will be a subordinate to Lord Rosario, following the etiquette of nobles and their duty to their liege Lord. Rosario as Naomis Liege Lord will provide protection and support to his vassal Lady Naomi All Resources on land claimed by Lady Naomi, that she is able to defend without explicit help from Lord Rosario, will be property of Lady Namoi subject to any taxes imposed by Lord Rosario Clauses may be added or modified with the agreement of both parties under full control of their free will.

Rosario noticed the agreement terms were a bit vague, but he wasn't too worried about it. He signed his name on the "Floating" screen and watched as a little animation of it rolling into a scroll and being sent off by carrier pigeon played out. A few seconds later he received a slew of notifications with the first being the one confirming Naomi had signed also.

Rosario ignored the rest of the notifications as he spoke with Naomi.

"Now that, that is out of the way welcome to the clan Naomi. I would like to split these people possibly between our locations; however, I want you and your to be my trump cards. I will take the majority of the two villages' inhabitants and house them in my village. The goal is to grow it into a city quickly and have everyone working. With your village I want to turn it into a major fallback point for our forces. As it has water, food sources, and a summoning gate it will allow us to thrive in secret if we are ever pushed to annihilation. We will work to expand the housing and create training grounds. Of course, I am not all about work and no play, creating cultural centers for the populace and schools for younger children will be priority, we need to plan for babies to be born in our populations and not just older summons coming."

"I will expect your warriors to begin vigorously training to reach the first evolution as soon as possible. When I am able to get everyone settled in at my village and the necessary infrastructure built I will begin with military training and leveling for all those in my territory, that includes you and your people. When we fight together I want all our troops to follow the same signals and answer the same commands. I want our armies to be able to seamlessly merge together as one when we fight as a combined force."

"If you don't mind I would like to actually return with you to your village. I will oversee the improvement of my underground stronghold, but I would much rather spend my days under the sun training with your warriors. Soto can run the village and make improvements in my stead, and I can go and visit on a regular basis. To be very honest I don't want to be tied down ruling a village, I want to be able to explore the world we now live in."

Even though Rosario was wearing his helmet still, Naomi got the distinct feeling he was smiling largely. It was confirmed when his big mitt of a hand landed on her shoulder and a chuckle came from his helmet.

"Haha, Naomi. I am definitely with you there. I too want to go and explore, not just this world, but the universe we now find ourselves in. I am hoping for some great adventures together in the future. You are welcome to come back with us, if Soto is any bit as knowledgeable as Tormund being the first summons then your village will be in good hands."

Both of them looked over at Soto who seemed to have a constipated look on his face. It was obviously written across his face that he knew there was going to be a lot of work and it all seemingly just got dumped on is plate. With a sigh he stood up from his chair.

"It would be my honor to serve Lady Naomi as your advisor and scapego… manager of affairs. I will do my best to follow Lord Rosarios image of what he would like Sanctuary to be while also keeping Lady Naomis wishes in mind."

Soto bowed as he said the last bit and Rosario saw as Naomi got a far away look at she was reading something from the system.

With that out of the way Rosario had all the villagers gather and begin the trek back to the plateau. Soto took around fifty residents that would begin the work on sanctuary back to the underground cavern. Rosario left behind Julie and Bolog to ensure the entire town was razed to the ground and burned without allowing the surrounding forest to catch fire. As he and the others were a few miles away he began to see the first smoke rise over the treetops. Seeing the smoke, he realized he basically set a beacon for others to come to this area, cursing his stupidity he figured there was no stopping the fires now and steeled himself to get some city building done over the next few weeks."
