The Entrance Test

The Zerst Family owned quite a few residences in the Sun City. Master Zerst chose one of the residences to stay for the night, and scattered the remaining charms that were left from the journey all around this residence.

He then handed the gold that needed to be paid to his bodyguards, not forgetting to double the amount for the risk they had taken.

Roland and Trent ran away at their fastest speed as soon as they got their hands on the money. Obviously, due to Trent's ability, he was the winner of their run away race.

These two didn't want to be associated with the Zerst Family anymore. It seems that the past three days had traumatized them even though they hadn't come under any significant harm.

....

The next day, the siblings along with Caroline got on their horses, and left the City through its north gate and travelled on the straight road.

Half a day later, they were stopped by the students of the Academy at the foot of the Great Mountain.

"What is your intention of visiting the Academy?" Dice, The 18 year old student who had been assigned to guard the foot of the mountain asked.

"We are here to participate in the Great Entrance test! My lady here has awakened her bloodline!" Caroline politely gestured towards Lady Zerst, who was still sleeping behind her brother.

"Hmm. Any awakened can enter the Great Mountain to take the test." Dice nodded. "But I have to confirm wether she had awakened her bloodline or not."

Dice gave a look to his fellow student, who took a red crystal like gem from his pocket and handed it to Dice.

"You can either demonstrate the Bloodline Ability, or allow the Bloodline Crystal to detect the ability if you don't want to expose the details of your Ability." Dean smiled innocently and passed the device to Caroline.

"No need." Master Zerst shook his head. "My sister will demonstrate her ability."

Lady Zerst yawned as she streched. She jumped down from the horse, and waved her hand.

A layer of white frost gathered around her palm, and as she willed, it circled around her hand before dissipating.

Dean looked at Lady Zerst's outstretched palm seriously for a few seconds before he nodded. "You can enter, but each candidate is only allowed to take one relative or servant with them. I'm afraid one of you have made the trip in vain." Dean looked apologitically at Master Zerst and Caroline.

Master Zerst rolled his eyes. He took out the Zerst emblem and passed it Caroline, who passed it to Dean.

Dean had a puzzled look on his face as he examined the emblem. A golden cat with horns was carved on it. "Do you think you can use your family name to break the rules of the Academy?" Dean was really puzzled. The Great Rise Academy has the highest status in the Ranze Empire, even the Royal family needed to follow their rules, so what made this little boy think that his Family would be an exception.

"Break? No! I have no need to break the rules." Master Zerst shook his head. "That is the emblem of my Zerst Family."

"The Zerst Emblem?" Dean took another look at the golden coloured cat, and squinted his eyes at it.

"Fine! If you are from the Zerst Family, then you can go in freely." Dean returned the emblem to Caroline, while his thoughts raced. He had been instructed by a senior of the Academy to inform him if the Zerst Family ever came to their academy.

He had also heard that the Zerst Family had special previlages in the Academy due to some unknown reasons from this senior!

Seeing that the things have been taken care of, Lady Zerst tried to get on the horse, but her brother shoved her hand away.

"Since you got down, you will walk all way to the top of the mountain." Master Zerst smiled and patted his sister.

Lady Zerst gave her brother a side eye. Usually when they are alone, her brother would pamper her plenty, but when in the presence of others, he brings out his sadistic side.

Lady Zerst gave her brother the finger, and her brother returned the gesture in kindness.

Seeing that her attempts had failed to move him, she tried to act cute.

"Oniiii-chaaaan! Please let me on the horse. Please, Oniii-Channnn!"

*Insert Nope Meme here*

Master Zerst shook his head with a smile. He wasn't falling for her act.

Seeing this, Caroline thought it was her time to impress her idol, so she got down and offered her horse, but Lady Zerst ignored her as if she was air.

Caroline could only lower head and get on the horse again.

Finnally, after clarifying that her brother wasn't going to allow her to ride the horse, Lady Zerst's eyes narrowed as the white dots on her Earrings glowed.

A moment later, under the astonished gazes of the students and Caroline, a huge house appeared at the foot of the mountain.

Lady Zerst gave one final look to her brother before she went inside the house and locked all the doors, preventing anyone from entering it.

Master Zerst could only shake his head at her stubbornness.

"Don't you have to hurry? Today is the last day to register for the Great Entrance Test!" Dice, asked, feeling troubled as he looked at the house that covered most part of the road that led to the top of the mountain.

What was he going to say to the other applicants who would arrive and need to travel on that road? Wouldn't these applicants laugh at the academy for being so unprofessional!

He really wanted to force these people to make them go on the way, but they were the Zerst Family!

As for the answer to his question, Master Zerst waved his Emblem. It meant that, 'We are the Zerst Family. The Entrance Test isn't anything to us.'

Dice could only shut up now. But inwardly he was cursing the 13 generations of the Zerst Family. Weren't these guys abusing their status too much?

And then, a week passed. Master Zerst and Caroline hadn't left the foot of the mountain in these 7 days.

The Great Entrance Test had alredy occured and the results were already out, but Lady Zerst hadn't even participated in the test.

After his sister locked herself up in the portable house, Master Zerst used the backdoor his mother had added for situations like this to enter it, but he wasn't able to convince his sister to take part in the exam.

In fact, he wasn't even able to wake her up, so he just slept along with her.

'Well, it would cause less problems to enter the academy through the test, but this is fine too.'

Thinking like this, he patted his sleeping sister plentifully. She was developing a bump on her head from all the patting from him.
