Chapter 9 Crab Attack

Hydrax looked down to see a green pincer the size of her head viciously shaking her to and fro. Everybody else stood by to see if Hydrax could get herself out of this situation. She then tried to stretch her hands to freeze the water around the crab's arm. 

However the crab had already seen this tactic before and tightened its grip around her legs blinding Hydrax in pain. She could hear a snapping sound in her legs before engulfing a ton of water. Thankfully the Hydrocrystals were amphibious and can survive breathing water and air.

Without a second thought Fang and Neo dashed to the river. Fang knew he wouldn't be able to use fire so he had to rely on Neo. Once they both dived , Fang went to try to release Hydrax from the pincers while Neo tried to keep the crab's arm steady.

Both of them were knocked off by the crab's other hand causing them to soon swim back up for air.

"Well that didn't work," said Fang

"We'll just have to try a new strategy" said Neo

"What about we go for the stalks this time?"

"That could do, let's try it." Neo answered

"But first hold my hand."

Fang grabbed Neo's arm and at that moment became invisible. After breathing enough air both dived down and swam around the crab intending to grab the eyes from behind. Fang had to rely on Neo again since he couldn't see himself or his friend. The duo carefully approached the stalks making sure not to step on the crab's body.

They were intending to tightly grasp them until they noticed a small cave filled with white orblike objects. Now it all made sense those orbs were the crab's eggs and it was simply trying to protect them while seeing Hydrax as a threat.

Because of this they instead gently squeezed the stalks while feeling the eyelid's rubber like texture. This caused the crab to drop Hydrax and immediately close its eyes.

Once Fang and Neo had saved Hydrax and gotten her to shore they were congratulated by the students and teachers who were planning to save her if the two failed. Hydrax's leg bones had quickly mended and despite her being in the water for a few minutes her hair and clothes were still dry. The two were soon applauded by the whole crowd.

Hydrax felt humiliated after being beaten by a creature that she thought could be defeated easily. She knew her parents would'nt be happy about this either.

The crab had opened its eyes again and was no longer in pain. After seeing the threat was gone it then returned back to its eggs until a group of tentacles grabbed it by the legs and pulled into the riverbed.

The crab then found herself in a sea of darkness and was unable to see around herself. A large claw then grabbed her by the head and snapped her in two. The black scaled dragon then took some bites of the crab's insides while giving the rest to her son.

Another dragon came to the rock where the mother and son stood on. 

"General Nightfall , how is the rest of the army."

"Most have woken up now Lady Void but the rest will be asleep for hours."

"Very well, we will wait and once we're ready we will attack Raptilia's capital."
