Chapter 7

The very next morning I had the cargo loaded onto the ship, my crew onboard and ready in their stations before I boarded the ship myself and walked to the Bridge.

Inside I found 3 Crewmates awaiting my arrival.

Two of which were human and the last was a Male Protoss.

They all had their specific jobs.

The Protoss's job was to monitor the coms, keep watch of the ship's surroundings via the ship's sensors, and monitor the ship's shielding systems that would protect the ship from a massive amount of damage before breaking and needing to recharge.

The other two human's jobs were to pilot the ship.

It would seem like a simple enough job, but they had a large console that was constantly being updated with data that was vitally important, such as the ship's speed, status, and the aerospace around the ship.

Speaking of the ship, it did not really use physical fuel, it used energy as its fuel to move around in space.

The whole ship was powered by multiple smaller fusion reactors across the ship and the main fusion reactor at the ship's center so if the Main Fusion Reactor were to be lost or damaged, we could rely on one of the smaller fusion reactors spread throughout the ship.

Sitting at the center of the bridge was a lone chair elevated high enough for whoever sits in it to monitor all of the crew in the bridge and stretching out from the side of the chair was a long metallic arm that had the ability to bring up a hologram that would allow the person sitting in the seat to see the situation of the entire ship!

That's right, this particular chair was the Captain's chair!

Once I sat down into it, I pulled the metallic arm in front of me and watched as the holoscreen came live, showing me a lot of information.

Turning on the ship's intercom, I began speaking.

"This is your captain speaking, today marks a glorious day as today we shall be the first group to leave our star cluster and venture out further beyond! We do not know what lies beyond our star cluster, but we shall find out, and overcome any challenge that awaits us! This is your captain signing off, let's get this show on the roll!" My voice echoed around the ship.

And with that cue, the thrusters burst to life and we begin to ascend from the landing pad the ship was moved to outside the factory it was constructed in.

With the ship slowly ascending from the ground and into the sky, the ship's angle started to turn until the ship's front was pointing towards the sky.

Looking through the ship's cameras, I made sure that everyone was buckled in their seats in their respective areas and ready for the force that the launch would give us.

"Launch," I told the two pilots who nodded and pushed a lever that acted as the thrusters' strength.

Feeling the force of gravity smash me down into the seat, I just took in deep breaths until we finally escaped the planet's atmosphere.

Once I no longer felt the planet's gravity influence on my body, I activated the ship's artificial gravity and let the crew know that they can get up and move around.

Now that we were outside of the planet's atmosphere and in orbit, I had the ship's nav computer lock onto Attican Beta.

And once we were a far enough distance from the planet I had the pilots activate the wormhole drive!

That's right, I finally decided on what kind of FTL method of travel to use for the ship, and I chose the wormhole drive!

The Wormhole drive opens up a wormhole in between two points in space allowing for the ship to simply fly through, greatly shortening the distance traveled and the amount of time it would have taken if we traveled there via the other forms of FTL travel!

But while it did consume more power than the other forms of FTL travel, it did not really matter with how much power our ship produced.

As the beam of energy was fired from the front part of our ship and into the empty space in front of us, we watched as a literal hole in space revealed itself and on the other side of the wormhole, we could see a solar system!

The Wormhole drive worked as an Einstein–Rosen bridge, which greatly increased our speed of travel, but we will have to make quite a few jumps for where the ship was now heading, the Omega Station in the Terminus Systems...

Why am I going there? You may ask?

Simple, I want to start gathering information and set up a base of operations there.

As a haven for scum, information brokers, slavers, and much more, the place would suit quite nicely for gathering information.

It's also there that I want to start building up a business of sorts.

After all, I do need money!

And why not help start increasing the fame of my civilization while I am at it?
