REWORKED

After single-handedly dragging himself and his sister out of poverty, Calle was finally able to live and enjoy his life, having everything that he and his sister could ever want. However, what would happen if suddenly a god-like existence that had just saved his life told him that the world that he was currently living in was about to completely change? Strength will become the absolute ruler of the world and the weak wouldn't even have the privilege to have a will of their own. "But fret not, I will give you the strength to destroy those rules. The strong will bend their knees to you and the weak will worship you." The god-like existence said while looking at Calle straight in his eyes. Calle who had worked his blood and tears to make himself and his sister live a comfortable and joyful life, of course, refused to let his life be dictated by others and accepted the offer. But who would've known that the power that was given to him was the absolute power that all the rulers of the universe coveted. He was given the power to conquer dungeons and later call upon the monsters inside to do his bidding. He would raise his right hand and hundreds of monsters would raise their swords for him. His left hand soon followed and hundreds of beasts would bare their fangs against his enemies. His mouth would open and hundreds of gates would open as mythical creatures from the legends walked out and stood by his side and obeyed his command. Whenever he goes, his armies would be with him. Follow Calle's journey as he conquered dungeons and use them to fight against gods and higher existences alike as he became the strongest existence in the universe. ====== The start will be quite slow to get you to know more about the characters, but as the story progresses, the pace will pick itself up. And in my opinion, it will definitely be a story worthy of your time. ====== **Cover art is not mine, if you are the owner and want me to take it down, please contact me.

Ordinary White Egg

"What is that? What's a familiar?"

"A familiar is a creature that came from your soul. The union of a part of your soul, mana, and using that altar over here, it will give birth to a creature that will grow together and accompany you for life." Gilgamesh explained.

"Whoa… Is this one of your abilities, Gil?"

With a smug smile plastered on his face, Gilgamesh answered, "Nope! It's the altar's ability. The method of creating a familiar is usually very difficult and very secretive, not anyone can get them. And also you have to undergo many rituals and it doesn't even guarantee you will get a compatible familiar. But with this altar, you only need to give it a drop of your blood and a lot of mana, then you'll be guaranteed to get yourself a familiar, cool isn't it?"

Calle still hadn't completely grasped what having a familiar meant and he didn't know how much it could help him to get stronger, but hearing that it was rare for people to be able to get a familiar for themselves and how complicated it would be to get them using other means, Calle understood how valuable the round altar in front of him.

"I stol- I borrowed it from one of the many worlds out there that specializes in using their familiar as their main source of fighting power. And this altar here is one of the best ones that they got because it will definitely give birth to a familiar that has 100% compatibility with you! The only downside for this item is that it is a one-time-use item. So it will break after it finishes creating your familiar. What do you think? Do you like my gift?"

"Yes, I do. Thanks a lot, Gil."

Ignoring the fact that Calle just heard the being in front of him had committed thievery to get the altar, he appreciates the gift very much, especially after knowing that it was a one-time use item.

'Maybe I should give him something back one day. Well, it depends how useful this familiar will be, but if it was really helpful then maybe I should also stea- get something valuable for him.' Calle thought as he kept his eyes on the small glowing ball of light in front of him.

Calle didn't notice it, but the corner of Gilgamesh's mouth lifted up a little when Calle finished his thought.

Now that he knew that the glowing thing that was gathering around his drop of blood was mana, his interest was piqued even more. Although he had never seen real mana in his whole life before, he had seen it in video games that he played. And with him currently playing a mage class character in the virtual game that he played, he knew that mana is what someone has to use if they wanted to use magic.

And with real mana, in the real world visible right in front of his eyes, Calle couldn't help but put almost his full attention on the glowing ball of light that was floating above the round altar.

It didn't take long for Calle to notice that there were subtle changes in the ball of light as the mana that made up the ball began solidifying itself. And just right after the ball of light absorbed all the glow from the symbols on the round altar, the ball of light then released a blinding light that caused Calle to reflexively close his eyes.

He only closed his eyes for a few seconds before the blinding light had completely disappeared. He didn't know how it happened, but he also felt the black dagger in his hand snap in two the moment the light disappeared.

Opening his eyes, Calle saw an ordinary white egg was sitting on the top of the round altar that now had cracks all over its body

Other than the fact that the egg's size was slightly bigger than an ostrich's egg, the white egg in front of him looked very ordinary as it reminded Calle of the egg that he usually used to cook omelets with whenever he was hungry in the middle of the night.

"Gil, is my familiar going to be a chicken?" Calle turned his head to look at the floating man in front of him with a tinge of disappointment painted in his eyes.

Looking at the oversized white egg on top of the broken altar, Gilgamesh reflexively tried to close his mouth, but soon failed as he let out a hearty laugh "HAHAHAHA!"

"No, Calle. You're not going to get a chicken from it." Gilgamesh said, patting his own chest as he calmed himself down.

"Then if it's not a chicken, will it be a-"

"Don't worry Calle, you're not going to get a duck. I don't want to spoil the surprise for you, but you're not getting any type of bird from that egg."

"This familiar will surely help you a lot in the future. Take good care of it and you will definitely not regret it." Gilgamesh said as he winked toward Calle while giving him a thumbs up.

Calle didn't know how Gilgamesh was able to look through the shell of the egg with only a single glance, but he decided to trust him nonetheless since he already committed himself to trust the man in front of him.

Gilgamesh then made the large white egg slowly float away from the broken altar and brought it near Calle.

Reaching out both of his hands, Calle gently received the egg and held the egg with both of his hands, afraid that it would accidentally fall and break apart before he gets to see what kind of familiar he will get.

"When will this egg hatch?" He asked Gilgamesh.

"It should hatch quickly after a while. It will probably hatch not too long after you go inside that door." Gilgamesh replied as he once again pointed at the huge stone door.

"Alright, Calle. Let's not waste our time and go ahead and touch that door!"

Calle nodded his head as he walked over to the stone door once again, and this time, Gilgamesh didn't say a word to stop him and just let him walk closer and closer towards the huge stone door.

Calle was now standing right in front of the stone door, but he still kept both of his hands on the egg. He then repositioned the egg so that it would rest firmly on his left hand and his chest while raising his right hand to touch the door.

Just when his right hand was only a few millimeters from touching the door, Calle turned his head and looked at Gilgamesh once again before saying,

"Gil, when can I see you again?"

The question was clearly an unexpected one as Gilgamesh raised both of his eyebrows when he heard it.

Calle found it to be comfortable talking to the unknown being behind him even though they had only talked with each other for about 10 minutes. And with Gilgamesh giving him such precious gifts, he wondered when he would get the chance to see him again. Calle also thought that it would be nice if they could talk again with each other someday and maybe return the huge favor that he had given him.

He didn't know what kind of things and adventure he might run into in his journey before he could meet him again considering Gilgamesh was so out of this world and it didn't seem that he belonged to the world itself.

'I might have to travel the universe if I want to meet him again…' He silently thought in his head.

But instead of giving Calle a clear answer, Gilgamesh only smiled before saying, "Just keep getting stronger and we will definitely meet again."

"Now, go on and start your journey, Calle. I wish you the best of luck."

Calle then nodded his head as he promised himself that he would someday learn the truth about Gilgamesh's identity before he pushed his right hand forward, touching the stone door in front of him.

The moment his right hand touched the door, Calle heard a cold mechanical voice in his head,

Calle then felt his vision blurred as he was teleported away from his current place, leaving Gilgamesh in the dark and empty void alone.

After Calle disappeared from his spot, Gilgamesh released a sigh of relief as he muttered,

"Glad that I made it in time…"

Right after he said those words, Gilgamesh's body started to lose all of its glow as the glowing particles all had slowly scattered to the empty void. His body began slowly turning into a blur and eventually becoming see-through. And it didn't look like it would stop right there as even Gilgamesh's see-through body began to slowly disappear starting from his feet.

And just before his body was completely erased from existence, he muttered once again,

"I'll leave this universe in your hands, Calle."

And that were the last words that came out of his mouth as every part of his body scattered, blended, and disappeared into the dark and empty void around him.
