Revived By The Moonlight

Being born in a family where your worth is only proved through a single ability is terrifying. If one does not have the ability of the Whitlock's treasure, they're abandoned and disregarded. Kai Whitlock who has shown little to no potential in being an ability holder. He became an outcast in society and even in his own family. With only a father he could rely on. As an innocent child, Kai had always wanted to get ahold of his mother's love and affection. He trained, he studied and played his part. Instead of getting the treatment he yearned for, Kai was sold off to a Lord who was known for his promiscuity.  Kai Whitlock became an empty shell that wanted nothing more than revenge for his suffering. And there came the day where he was released from the grasp of the evil Lord.  Flowers were littered around the room, they emitted a scent of newly spilled blood. The night has never shined so brightly as it did that day. The moonlight shone upon Kai, blessing him with it's embrace. Kai wanted strength to devour the world whole.

Spider With A Shell Of Iron

"Things just keep appearing one after another." Kai murmured, looking at the horrifying creature that stood over him with it's long furry legs.

Time seemed to stop as the creature did nothing while it stared at Kai without moving.

A portion of the creature's eyes looked at every inch of the prey while the other portion scanned its surroundings. It had to make sure it was in the clear.

Kai could feel his heartbeat beating at an alarming pace. His legs turned to jelly and his knees buckled before he fell on the grass floor.

His legs had walked such a far distance and went through so much pain and strain. But the monster that stood in front of him couldn't compare.

Pockets empty with nothing to aid him in the current situation. Kai felt like this was the end of the road for him if he did not come up with something now.

It wasn't as if he didn't want to get back on his feet. He couldn't. The pain every time he tried straightening his legs felt like he was dipping his leg in magma.

Even if he did get the courage to get on his feet, would he dare make such a rash movement in front of that creature?

Kai could hear himself hyperventilating. His grip on reality has loosen. For all that flashed in his mind were gory images of his body getting ripped apart.

If it was a smaller creature maybe he could outrun or kill it. But how can anyone outrun such a thing that made up a portion of the forest's roof? Kill it? The hard shell of the spider gleamed as if it was made of metal.

It was an impossible task.

Finally seeing no way out, Kai closed his eyes shut tightly. He rested his head back. He could feel his damp hair clinging onto his skin from the sweat. His chest moving up and down repeatedly in response to his heavy breathing.

If he were to die now, would his body be found? What would be his remains? What about Luar? What about his loose ends that he hadn't tied up?

CLACK! The armor of the spider sounded once it met with a blade to it's huge body. It flinched and located the intruder with its multiple grotesque eyes.

A large burly man was clinging onto one of the branches of the tree while swinging his body back and forth before letting himself go and landing on the back of the spider.

Fire exploded beneath the body of the spider continuously like fireworks. It crackled and popped viciously.

The spider shook it's body and used it's legs to hunt down its prey. It's leg went up and stabbed into the ground, every time it did, the earth was left dented with a deep hole.

"You okay?" A voice asked. Her voice was low in pitch and stuck out like a sore thumb despite all the chaos.

She walked towards Kai while still looking up everywhere so often to make sure the monster wasn't targeting her. Her long red ombre hair flowed from side to side with every step she took. She held a wand that was spectacular, the jewel shined brightly amidst the darkness.

"I'm Ophelia." She introduced, while offering a helping hand.

Kai swallowed and shook his head. He didn't dare take his eyes off the spider. "I'm fine." He said with a smile.

Ophelia slowly retreated her hand as she brushed through her hair with her fingers. She decided to take the kids' word and turned her back, her hands gripping tightly onto her wand.

A series of explosions occurred, it struck everywhere on the abdomen of the spider's body but no damage could be seen.

"Ophelia! Try attacking the eyes!" A female voice yelled at the top of her lungs. It sounded distant.

Following the directions her friend gave, Ophelia aimed for the eyes. Her fire magic shot straight like a bullet.

The spider could see it from a mile away, it opened it's mouth and green bubbly liquid spurted out like a waterfall, completely washing out the fire.

The man on the spider took advantage of the distraction and grabbed a longsword from his side and held it to his chest, using all his strength he stabbed it deep into the abdomen of the spider. He used all his weight to push it down even more.

The most the blade did was leave a small crack on the shell of the spider's body. The pain it felt irritated the spider, it swung its body back and forth like a maniac and eventually the man was flung off.

The rough sound of a bow string stretching, the bow positioned with a fire arrow. She breathed out and let go of the string.

Her aim was extraordinary even from such a distance and within the dark where everything was a blur. Her arrow struck one of the spider's eyes.

The Spider let out a hiss that sent a tremor throughout the whole forest. Leaving many creatures in terror. Even the humans that were fighting it.

The frantic struggling of the spider had opened up a gap in the roof of the forest. Branches were broken and leaves that sheltered the land dropped.

It shone light upon the size of the spider. Everybody knew it was huge in size seeing how it's whole body covered almost 20 metres in radius but seeing it upfront was a whole different matter.

Ophelia turnt back at the kid with eyes filled with fear. Her hands were shaking but she maintained a steady tone. "Run. You should run." She said.

"I'm sorry. I can't..my legs are injured." Kai replied in an apologetic tone while he stared at the man with the long sword advancing towards the spider again.

"It's alright. Just stay safe.. me and my friends will definitely deal with it. Wait here, okay?" Ophelia instructed, she gulped and her face expression changed to terror.

The spider's dark legs pierced the ground right in front of her where the kid sat. It sunk in deep into the ground, it's sharp tip had a stain of blood on them.

Ophelia backed off and shot a fireball at the spider's leg and it immediately retreated. Though no damage was done, it was obvious the spider was taken aback.

Kai could feel a wound had just opened on the left side of his face. It felt like it was on fire. He could feel the stinging pain deep into his skin.

He lifted his hand and touched the left side of his face, to his surprise, he could feel an unknown liquid substance lying on his skin. He then looked at his fingers and saw green bubbling liquid. Poison.

Ophelia stood there, shocked. She hurriedly came to the young boy's aid. She looked back and saw that her 3 teammates had the situation in control. At least it seemed like it.

"Stay still. I'll try to remove the poison." Ophelia instructed with urgency in her voice as she tore a piece of cloth from the sleeve of her black shirt.

The cloth became wet while she held in her hands, water magic.

She then used the damp cloth to wipe off the green liquid. She leaned in front and could see the boy back off. His face was filled with pure disgust.

"Stay still, okay? I need to try to disinfect the wound." Ophelia convinced him, hovering over Kai. She was careful with the wound but rough at the same time.

The kid kept pushing her away whenever she made direct contact with him. It was obvious he was avoiding skin to skin contact. Why, though?

Ophelia frowned at that thought and started gently cleansing the wound that looked darker than it had before. Her hands started shaking as she gulped down the rock stuck in her throat.

Kai could feel his face stinging more. He clenched his teeth together and felt his vision getting more blurry.

Out of nowhere, he could feel something coming up his throat. He struck out his arm and pushed the woman back.

Blood splattered on the ground.
