Power

"Okay, I need you to sit down and relax. I understand magic is new to you so I want you to get used to it." I listen to Fig and sit on the soft grass. "Close your eyes and search for your power. It's inside of you and all you have to do is find it... and embrace it." He says the last part softly as I try and concentrate. I try until I hear crickets and I open my eyes to see the sun was setting. Or should I say suns?

I had never noticed before but there were two suns. One was slightly smaller than the other but both equally bright. I saw the clouds in the sky taking on the orange-red color I've seen in my world only the colors were more vivid. To try and describe it with words only wouldn't do it any justice. Light bands could be seen stretching out where the suns met the ground making it look like they were reaching out as they disappeared.

"It's beautiful isn't it?" I heard Rune's deep voice from behind me. I turn to find him leaning back watching me. The sun catching his golden eyes making them look like they too were suns. "How long have you been here?" I ask as I see Fig sleeping under a small tree nearby. He gave me a lazy smile and said "Long enough. What are you doing?" He asked moving closer.

I watch him as he moves in front of me and sits down directly in front of me. "I'm trying to find my magic," I say in a soft voice. His much larger frame nearly blocking out the suns rays as I look in his intense eyes. "Would you like my help?" He asks just as softly. I slightly tilt my head wondering if he's being serious. Why does he want to help? "Yes.." I say in almost a whisper.

He smiles as he brings his large hand up to my face and leans in. I stiffen and he stops. His eyes search my face and he looks at me in question. I slowly relax and his hand touches my cheek. His long fingers reached to the back of my neck and pulls me closer as he leans in more. All I can see are his golden eyes. We were so close I could smell him and his smell made me relax even more. My heart races as we become so close our breathing is the same. Our heads touch and my world explodes.

Colors, languages, love, life, death, happiness, sadness... all of it came rushing over me in waves. I felt as if I was drowning but then I feel him... Rune. He's there helping me stay grounded. Everything around me was pushing and pulling at me. I then think back to what Fig had said. About embracing it. So I do just that. I open myself up as everything comes rushing at me. I suck in and pull back to see Rune breathing deeply and looking shocked.

"That.. was different." He said unsure. I look over to find Fig awake and smiling. "You did it!" he said jumping up and down in joy. I was so over come with all the emotions I laughed and cried but knew I was happy. I did it and we were one step closer to going home. Rune seemed uncertain but rubbed my back in comfort. I looked at him and said "Thanks" as I got up and ran to Fig picking him up and spinning around.

I give him a big hug and say "Step one, complete" in a whisper and Fig licks my nose causing me to giggle. I felt slightly different and if possible lighter. Maybe because I had one less thing to worry about. I refused to think of the way I felt with Rune's hand on me and the way my heart did a flip flop while staring into his eyes. Those eyes were dangerous.. hell that man was dangerous and I needed to make sure I didn't.. didn't what?

I shook my head and refused to think any further. I wasn't going there. I had one plan and that was to get back to my world. Nowhere in my plan includes a hot dark fae prince. Fig crawls to my shoulder and says "I got tired waiting so I took a nap but when I felt you tap into the power I woke up. You can imagine my surprise to see you two together. What happened?" he asked softly. "He just helped me a little that's all," I say and Fig gives me a look.

"It's getting late and I'm sure you two are hungry," Rune says while watching us. I give him a small smile and nod as I walk to him. It looks like he wants to say something but decides against it and walks with us inside. As we walk in the door I feel a cool mist wash over me and stop in confusion.

"It's the wards that are set up all over the castle. I guess you can feel them now." He says with a smile and keeps walking. I go back and forth through the door over and over and smile. I really do feel it. This.. I could get used to.
