On the fifth day of the storm, as lightning tore the skies asunder, a rain of knocks raced across the cabin doors, followed by shouts of help, then screams as knocks turned to bangs.
Inside, Zariel glanced at the door and proceeded to ignore it. Halfway through the second day, he had warded the door against most things before doing the same for the flooding that was to come. They were by a lake, and Zariel saw there was no reason why the water levels wouldn't rise. And he was proven right on the third day.
"You're just going to leave them to drown?" Aurelia asked.
Zariel seemed surprised she was talking to him, touching his black eye and snorting, continuing to read a Tale of Blackened Chaos by Aldrich by the hearth, finding himself engrossed.
Aldrich, The First Shar'dar of Elysium, Lord of Chaos, King Of the Nine Moons, Bringer Of the First Rite, and Destroyer of The Night.
