I followed Ethan into the conference room and met the elders already settled around the large table. They all had a look of disapproval on their faces, but Zion's hate probably stood out the most. A woman wasn't supposed to be in this place, yet here I was, in the midst of men who thought that they were better than everyone. And also in the same room that I had been forbidden to enter once. I hadn't even been permitted to clean it, I clearly wasn't worthy enough to clean the dirt off their shores.

I settled on the far end of the table with Ethan sitting right next to me. I casted Zion one last glance of disdain before gesturing for the meeting to begin.

Fabian, the oldest member of the council, was the first to speak. "The kingdom is divided because of the sudden introduction of a new heir. They want to know who this new person is, and some of them who know the truth have turned against the former Alpha."
