R E L I E F

'After the examination of the crime, ex-officer Bellona Campbell had filed a case against Dr. James Hebron stating that the autopsy he had done was false as in the victim’s forensic reports the reason of death had been declared as a suicide. On the day of hearing Dr. James was called but due to him being severely sick he had asked his assistant to deliver the ‘autopsy reports’ to the attorney.’

Jonathan walked over to the judge and handed him a file.

'Your honour, Marcos was apparently the Dr's assistant and he exchanged the files to the false one, the false report was given to the attorney thus, the case was closed by the authorities.'

Puffing his chest he walked back and sat in his seat all satisfied leaving the people astonished behind. Bellona sat there watching it all and if felt like a weight had been lifted off her shoulder. She felt much stronger now.

The defence attorney stood up then.

'This is a lie! After Marcus was proven innocent he indeed was hired as the Dr'a assistant but he fulfilled his duty and delivered what he was told to!'

'Then how did the files got exchanged?' Attorney Jonathan rose up from his seat in a furious manner.

'It's a wrong accusation on my client-

'Order! Order!' The judge slammed his gavel making both the teams silenced. An eerie silence filled the atmosphere and the whispers from the crowd could be heard.

'Attorney Jonathan continue.'

On the judge's order, Attorney Jonathan cleared his throat and began speaking,

'Your honour, I would like to call forensic Dr. James Hebron to the stand.'

The forensic expert was brought to the stand, he stood there looking at the attorney expecting him to throw questions.

'Dr. James..I have a few questions for you.'

The attorney walked closer and looked him in the eye.

'Did you gave out this file to Marcos Fey to deliver it to the attorney?'

He showed the file to him, opening and flipping the pages which contained real medical reports of Patricia Wilson.

'Yes.'

The attorney nodded.

'Point to be noted your honour, Dr, James Hebron agreed that he had handed this file to Marcos that day! But the reports that were delivered to the attorney were quite...different. Your honour, this is the reports that were given by Marcos.'

He handed out a medical report to the judge making the judge examine both the files in which each page were dissimilar.

'This proves that either Marcos was involved in this crime or he was instructed to do this by someone.'

'Objection your honour, this session is not about this former case but it's about the incident that took place one week ago.' The defence attorney stood up from his seat, his voice boomed across the room in a crossed manner.

'Attorney Bells you seem to ignore these facts because your client is the one at fault.' You could hear the mocking in Attorney Jonathan's statement, walking back he smirked as the furious glare of Marcos was could be seen.

-

Attorney Jonathan rose up from his seat again, walking in the centre he spoke.

'Your honour, today I have put forward two pieces of evidences that claim Marcos Fey guilty. The first is the lie that no one was with him. The evidences that prove him wrong here are the half-eaten packet of peanuts and the shoe-print that does not belong to Marcus . The second evidence is the previous criminal records which includes stealing medical reports and exchanging of forensic reports of a previous victim with a false one leading us to suspecting him that somehow he did not want the case to further more be inspected. Ex-Officer Bellona Campbell also was betrayed by the system only because of Marcos. The drugs that were being exchanged also makes him guilty as it is an illegal act.'

Attorney Bells stood up, brushing his suit he also gave out his statement.

'Your honour, my client has been arrested previously. I agree on that statement but he was set free every time because of the wrong accusations on him. Marcos did not exchange any drugs that night nor he had changed the forensic reports, he did his duty and gave the attorney the papers that he was told to. The evidences found in the car were of previous days when Marcos and his friends had gone out together. We expect nothing but justice from the authorities as Marcos Fey is innocent.'

The last words made Bellona cringe. She internally was burning at the crocodile tears.

'It's going to be ok.' Bellona could hear Kris speak beside her. She glanced at him and then her trembling hands. Nodding she tried to calm herself down.

-

The atmosphere in the courtroom was disquieting, inducing worry in people's minds. Bellona was quite yet suffering from the thoughts revolving around her head, what if the verdict was against them? What if a little hope she had would be shattered? Fidgeting her fingers, her mind wandered at all the negative possibilities.

The gravely voice of the judge snapped her from her thoughts.

'Members of the jury, have you reached a verdict?'

The spokesman rose up from his seat and adjusted his tie before speaking. 'Your honour, the members of the jury find the defendant as guilty of being involved in first degree drug trafficking.'

'It is time.' The judge said.

'I will now pass the sentence of verdict. I agree with the jury on the verdict of guilt and hereby sentence Marcos Fey to 15 years in jail, the case associated with Patrica Campbell shall be further discussed as per given orders.'

The gavel was slammed and it's sound echoed the room, the sound of success and relief reminding that there was always the justice that won.

The crowd watched closely as the sherif put handcuffs on Marcos's wrists as he yelled in fury, pointing at the judge he cursed him before being dragged away from the court.

Attorney Bells stood up with a dull face as the court was adjourned. Some people took a sigh of relief but the happiest soul was of Bellona. A small smile was tugged at her lips..the anxiety and fear that was mounting inside her was gone.

and for this relief she was much thankful.
