Anna's POV
I walk inside the small size office I run with my friend, Lily.
It's a Monday today and I'm in a business mode, at least that's how one feels after things work out well.
Lily looked up at my direction as soon as she heard me walk in, since it's just the two of us. She does all the work varying from the job of a secretary to a receptionist and all of that..
"Hey Anna, you have a client waiting for you".
She said eagerly, her eyes lighting up.
"A client?
Why is a client waiting for me, you are supposed to attend to them? I asked in disapproval.
"Hey, come here" she said softly and gestured for me to come over.
"He seems to be wealthy, he requested you attend to him and I cannot turn him away" she said in a whisper while looking cautiously at the door to my office where she said the client was waiting.
Nodding in understanding, I walked briskly into my personal office. Today I had taken extra care in my outfit, which I am currently wearing a Knee length square neckline dress.
Coupled with a pair of black heels and black purse, my hair is left flowing down my back and I am confident I dressed well.
I opened the door, the client waiting had his attention on his phone. He glanced at my direction and nodded.
Oh my gosh!
Now, I'm not a sucker for handsome men but this one here caught me off guard.
Since I started this business with Lily, I have met different kinds of men and even women.
All have their own charm and it has become a norm for me but today this man was on a different level or maybe I'm just the crazy one.
"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting sir" I said professionally after sitting on my seat and away from him.
"I want to hire you as my girlfriend for a week," he said, going straight to the point. His brown eyes looking straight at me, he is wearing a two piece suit and a pair of leather shoes and an expensive watch he kept looking at.
"Our services here are just per date or per day, we don't do weeks" I inform him, ignoring the small voice in my head.
What is wrong with me?
"Name your price" He demanded curtly.
Arrogance oozing off every inch of his body.
"I don't suppose you will pay any amount I demand," I replied, I have successfully switched off the voice in my head and talked to him like a regular client.
In case you are wondering, I run a business whereby I sign contracts with people to be their girlfriend or date for a short period of time.
It all started as a joke actually until it was becoming real.
And now we are getting more clients that it's quite surreal
"I have just five minutes left before I leave, name your price and we have a deal".
He pressed on, his eyes having no traces of warmth.
"One million dollars for the whole week". I replied, if he wants to act cold I might as well return the favor.
He smiled at what I said and the rigidness around him melted off a little bit.
"I will pay you ten million, and we will start immediately".
"Fine, deal!" I agreed.
Maybe I shouldn't have agreed but I did, I need the money.
We signed an agreement and he left exactly five minutes later.
Lily stared at me after the man had left like I had grown two heads.
"He paid ten million!" She exclaimed.
"Why will you agree to his terms, what if he had some ulterior motives?".
"He can't hurt me, whereas I have gone on dates with almost a hundred men since we began this business. I'm not scared, I have met crazier people.
I think it's time we hire more people, if I'm gone for a week we can't work like we are supposed to" I said to her and walked away ignoring her nagging.
Lily has been my friend since college and since then we have been inseparable. I like her and she adores me.
Sometimes her nagging gets too much but I can blame her, I'm accustomed to making bad choices and she always warns me against those decisions.
Later in the afternoon, my newest client returned, his name is Nicholas Chester by the way.
He is the second son of the Chester family that owns the Chester group, the biggest in the city.
I was a bit surprised when I found out his identity. The Chesters are infamous for their arrogance and sometimes rudeness but I don't care.
He is just a business partner even if I would love to listen to the voice in my head and feed my desire.
"A head up will go a long way you know" I said after getting into his car.
"We are meeting my grandfather, he is the reason why I hired you. We are going there as a couple and we will play the part" He said briefly while ignoring what I had.
"I will introduce myself as your girlfriend but what do you mean by playing the part?" I asked, somewhat confused.
"We will act as a normal couple would. No more questions please, it's just about thirty minutes away" he replied.
His response took words out of my mouth and lost interest in holding a conversation with him.
The rumors are true then
What an arrogant son a bitch.
My mood has been successfully ruined.
We arrived at the place, it's a huge mansion sitting on a vast land space. I stare at the house in wonder, it is beautiful and it is the best I have seen in years.
I got down from the car after Nicholas opened the car door.
I gasped in shock as he wrapped an arm around my waist, I looked up at him confused but he smiled softly at me.
"What are you doing?" I asked through gritted teeth.
"We have arrived, our act starts now" he replied, smiling charmingly at her.
I wanted to argue with him but I decided not to.
"Welcome back, young master" The Butler greeted jolting me back to reality.
The act had begun, I reminded myself.
"Where is grandfather?" He asked the Butler.
"In his room sir" The old man responded.
In a dreamlike motion, I walked beside him with our hands intertwined.
It is hard for me to believe someone as delightfully sweet as him has to hire someone to be his girlfriend.
What could be the problem, I wondered silently.
We stopped at a huge door that had a bodyguard outside the door. The bodyguard bowed politely before opening the door.
Nicholas's hand was still clasped around mine when we entered the room where an old man was sitting by the window and reading a book.
"Grandfather" Nicholas called out in greeting.
The man looked up at the sound of his voice and smiled immediately.
"What took you so long Nicholas, I can't remain seated for so long you know" He said, and his eyes slowly noticed my presence.
He looked at me thoughtfully for a few seconds before breaking out in a wide grin.
"Is this the young lady?". He asked eagerly.
"Yes, grandfather".
"Oh, that's great. I thought I would never see you get married before I die. Now, you both need to hurry so I can see your child before I go" The man said and laughed out happily.
I looked up at Nicholas at the man's words, he smiled at me and kissed me gently on the forehead.
Woah
I froze in place not expecting the kiss on the forehead, the best I have done for clients in the past was holding hands and brief hugs.
"Smile" He whispered, bringing his lips closer to my ear.
"You both should get married soon"
The grandfather spoke and my heart skip a beat for a second, I had gotten carried away.
Hey guys, I'm new here and this is my first book.
Please go easy on me if there is any issue with my book.
