CHAPTER 50

　　Stefan

　　I asked Sara to stay in the car. She didn't want to, but she agreed. I followed Derek inside and closed the door. Derek and I needed to talk alone. Sara couldn't hear our conversation.

　　We took her to her room. Derek laid her down on the bed. Kara looked defeated.

　　"So, are you back with Kara?" I asked Derek.

　　"Yeah. I guess so. Anyway, I'll stay with her. I need to take care of her, Stefan. You worried me with what you said at the witch's house. I don't want Kara to be disoriented. It'll be a blow to her."

　　"I know you don't want to, but I beg you to let me see her, Derek. I understand that it's my fault that you and she fought. But I need to be part of Kara's care. She needs me."

　　"Don't you think you've done enough, Stefan?" Derek crossed his arms. "I must protect her. I can take care of her. I know Kara will feel safe with me."

　　"Don't shut me out of her life. I'm the father of her children."
