"Rune Night." Marquis Lock's magnetic voice could be heard echoing in the room.
Those present felt a deep meaning from that name, one that was related to the Night's family deepest secret.
"It's such a fitting name for young master!" Butler Jones smiled, something very rare coming from him.
Lory and Victoria both nodded and felt happy. They were happy to see the baby that will grow and take over the Night family in the future.
The baby they couldn't offer to Marquis Lock...
-----
It was already morning when Yena woke up and suddenly she panicked. "Where is my baby?!" She screamed so hard that almost everyone heard her.
"Yena, my dear, please calm yourself. We put Rune in a separate room. You just have to rest for the day and leave the work to us, the hard part is already gone."
Marquis Lock calmed down his wife and smiled at her.
Hearing this, Yena barely held her tears back and emotionally said; "I'm glad...I could finally offer you something else other than my body."
In the end Yena couldn't control herself anymore and burst in tears. Marquis Lock's heart ached, seeing his lovely wife crying like that.
He hurriedly approached her bed and hugged her while he started to comfort her.
"Don't worry, you never disappointed me or made me feel angry at yourself. You don't need to blame yourself all the time. I love you."
Saying so, Marquis Lock sealed Yena's mouth, taking her by surprise.
"My dear..." Yena's weak voice could be heard in the silent room.
Marquis Lock was a tall man, standing at 1.90 meters, he had black hair with violet pupils. One couldn't see exaggerated muscles showing from his clothes.
But if a master were to stay close to him, his instincts would scream 'danger'.
Yena too, was a peerless beautiful lady that didn't look to be over 30, more like 25.
She had black raven hair and blue eyes with a curvaceous body, a big chest and perky bottom.
She was also known as one of the most beautiful women in the Lightstar Kingdom,
Marquis Lock was often mentioned by the other nobles for being so lucky as to have such a beautiful wife.
What they didn't know was that it wasn't luck that brought them together...
After their small moment ended, Marquis Lock told Yena to sleep and rest, while he would check on Little Rune.
Entering the room next to Yena, Marquis Lock looked lovingly at his son. "You too rest well, Little Rune.
In the future, my family's burden will be on your shoulders.
I'm sorry for being such an incompetent father..."
Saying so, Marquis Lock actually started to shed a few tears while lovingly kissing Little Rune.
'Little Rune' was actually awake the moment his father entered the room and heard his mumblings.
'It seems this family is not simple by any means, Night Family... I wonder what secrets you have?'
Not trying to dig in too much, because he was barely born, Zack now Rune, concluded that he had far less informations to discover the truth.
So he may as well wait until he grew before his father would tell him the truth about their family.
Rune would've shook his head to clear his mind if he wasn't only a baby and such an action would took a toll on him.
'It's so annoying to be born as a baby...Argh, if only I could skip time to a older version of me...'
Setting things aside, Rune's eyes started to focus and in his eyes appeared a small transparent panel that showed him different things.
"System Initialization Complete"
"DING!"
"HOST'S PANEL ACTIVE"
- Stats
- Skills
- Shop
- Inventory
Slayer Points : 1000
Attribute Points: 0
It was an awesome feeling for Rune, as a transmigrator to receive a system like in those novels.
He was extremely excited and could barely contain himself to delve deeper into it.
'Umm, system can you hear me?'
"DING!" "Yes, do you have any questions my dear host?"
The system replied back to Rune, he totally didn't expect it, as the majority of the systems were those boring type who could only notify the host of something, not conversing with its host.
"What is the purpose of the Slayer System?" Rune had a little knowledge about the purpose of this system after his chat with the God of Slaughter.
"DING!" "To respond the host's question, kill.
You have to kill and absorb the fallen enemies aura.
The aura absorbed will later be converted into slaughter energy, as a tribute to the God of Slaughter, it will be split in half.
With one half going to the God of Slaughter and the other half to host."
The system indeed explained the same thing to Rune right now.
Rune decided to access things on his panel to see what everything did. He firstly checked on his stats.
Stats:
- Name: Rune Night
- Level: None.
-BLOODLINE: Half-Human / Unknown
- HP: 10/10
- STR: 1
- STA: 1
- DEF: 1
- AGI: 1
- INT: 16
- MANA: 1/160
- SLAYER AURA: 0
- ATTRIBUTE POINTS: 0
Rune was shocked by two things, firstly his bloodline that was said to be half-human and the other half was categorized as 'unknown'.
The second thing was his INT being at a whooping 16. It surely was a big number surrounded by so many '1'.
He deduced that 1 INT meant 10 MANA. Most probably the reason it said 1/160 was because he couldn't sense mana yet.
And the third thing was the 'Slayer Aura'. It was a bit confusing. He heard about the slaughter energy he was supposed to give to the God of Slaughter, but never heard of Slayer Aura.
"System what is Slayer Aura? Also, please stop calling me host and call me Rune." Rune was bored, hearing the system call him 'host' every time.
"DING!" "Understood, Rune. Slayer Aura is obtained by killing enemies, they leave behind this Aura that could help host to grow stronger.
Aura is the main focus one could take on the 'Power Path', just like mana is to 'Magic Path'.
But compared to Fire Aura or Earth Aura, Slayer Aura greatly enhances one's body and instincts in battle. Making the perfect Aura for killing.
*Warning*: Slayer Aura could also be used to enhance other Auras and even Mana.
The downside is that your body will enter in a weakened state after doing so, for a period of time.
If Slayer Aura is used solo, without augmenting other Auras or Manas, you should be fine."
The system finished his lengthy explanation of Slayer Aura.
It surprised Rune and made him think of the Slayer Aura as a potential trump card.
He accessed the Skills section and as expected it was completely empty. 'Let's see the shop.'

There were tons of Skills and Magic Spells at Rune's disposal, it was a pity that he didn't have enough points to buy even the weakest of them.
The prices ranged from 2000 Slayer Points to even millions of Slayer Points.
Still, it was a mind opener for Rune to see how deep this world really was. What Rune saw though, was that the Skills and Magic Spells were from Level 1 to 7 with 5 columns being locked.
They were also categorized by grades: Common, Rare, Advanced, Epic and Legendary grade. With again, two columns being locked.
Rune knew that he was too weak right now to access the high-level Skills and Magic Spells .
But he got all the time in the world to grew.
Accessing the Aura section, Rune quickly skipped over it. 'Really bitch? Tens of thousands of Slayer Points for the weakest Aura?!'
He was so pissed that he didn't want anything else than strangle the one who decided the prices.
Calming himself down, he 'clicked' the Weapons section, where he finally nodded at the somewhat humane prices.
Weapons:
- Swords
- Shields
- Bows
- Spears
- Staffs
- Armour
- Rings
- Necklace
- Bracelets
- Helmet
- Training Items for Power Path
- Training Items for Magic Path
He was interested in the Training items, even though he could buy himself a few beginners sword or Armour etc, he was only a baby not even a day old.
Two items quickly caught his eyes, one for each Path; Mark of Power, Mark of Magic.
These two were both priced at 500 Slayer Points, they gave one the effect of better creating a connection with Aura, and Mana respectively.
Rune quickly bought them and almost instantly two small tattoos appeared on the palm of his hands, luckily, they could turn invisible for others.
It would be strange to see a baby barely born with two tattoos in the palm of his small hands.
He skipped over the Miscellaneous Items section as well, though, he made sure to remember a few interesting things from there.
Now there was only a single thing left to check, Inventory. Rune actually wanted to be surprised by something inside. 'Inventory'. He chanted in his mind.
- Level 1 Beginner Pack.
'Open Beginner Pack' Rune thought.
"DING!" Opening beginner Pack...
Congratulations! Host obtained the following.
- Heavy Bracelets - It could change it's weight to help the host in physical training. (Maximum weight from 10 kilograms to 100 kilograms, each bracelet) [Common grade, can be upgraded]
-Passive Skill Level 2 Warrior's Senses - Increases the host's senses to another level, good fit for battle.[Rare grade]
-Passive Skill Level 2 Mana Sense - Increases the host's perception of surrounding mana, better absorption rate of mana. [Rare grade]
- 10000 Slayer Points.
Indeed, Rune was pleasantly surprised by the Beginner's Pack he opened. He quickly formulated a plan to help him grow even in infancy.
'I should start by doing this...'
