Chapter 21: Hidden Passage

Kendrick ran out of the torture chamber, and soon found himself in the third floor of the manor.

His father's office was at the end of the hallway, so he realized soon enough he was on the third floor.

Kendrick carefully scanned his surroundings, before finding the stairs. Without hesitation, he immediately vanished from his spot and made a run for it.

The maids and other butlers watched him run and hide themselves. They were all clueless about what happened, but for sure they can tell, it's something dangerous they shouldn't get involved with.

Kendrick ran downstairs until he finally reached the 2nd floor. Now the real problem lies….

"Where's the dining room!!"

It hasn't been long since he had been reincarnated in this world, so of course there's no way he would know.

At the right side, there were three doors, and at the left, there were two with large doors. He considered the possibilities of the ones on the right being the doors to the dining room, but since their door was too small, there's no way it would be.

Kendrick kinda remembers Jredd bringing him to a large door when they went to the dining room before the nightmares started.

On the contrary, Alissa finally finished counting and clenched her hand into a fist.

"It's over."

She opened both her palms and reached out to the open space in front of her, before she started her chanting.

"Reveal yourselves, hellhounds!!"

A large darkness suddenly appeared on the ground, and from them, two large figures arose, seemingly taking upon the appearance of Black German shepherd dogs with horns from its forehead, and chains hanging upon its neck.

"Grrrrrgdgghhh!!"

Terrifying eyes, and large sharp teeths. They were creatures of hell, hellhounds. They seemed to be creatures out of control, however, due to the contract, they could not attack their owners and could only listen to their commands.

Thanks to them, they could only glare at Alissa as their mouths waters in hunger.

Alissa felt the urgency to end everything, and immediately took action. She took a piece of Kendrick's clothing left on the ground and let the hellhounds smell it.

Why would she go all the way to chase after him if the hellhounds can track him down instead with a smell.

"Capture him alive."

It didn't take long until the hellhounds finally memorized his smell, and began running on loose.

The hellhounds smashed its way out from the torture chameber. Debris flew everywhere as the torture chamber was finally revealed to the world. The maids and butler who were nearby had their brows shaking as they witnessed the scenery inside the previous torture chamber.

There were corpses scattered everywhere, and bones of what seemed to be from a human. And from where their Milady stood, was a pool of blood reflecting her red terrifying eyes.

The hellhound glances its way to the maid and butler from the side seemingly wanting to devour them.

Alissa already knew what it had in mind and stopped them.

"Chase after Dan, bring him back to me 'alive' . I will not tolerate failure, pathetic beast."

However, the hellhounds cannot disobey their owners. In all anger, the hellhounds howled into the sky, and sprinted before jumping to the stairs and falling right to the 2nd floor.

"Awwwwooooooo!!!"

Kendrick heard the terrifying beastly growls and immediately entered the room at the left.

And with a loud bangg!

The asphalt in which he stood suddenly shook, it felt like something heavy had fallen down the manor.

Kendrick didn't bother checking it and immediately scanned his surroundings after closing the door. There was a large fancy table in the middle that expanded till the end of the room, and chairs lined up. And at the end of the dining room, A decoration large tree stood tall at the side.

Kendrick was overjoyed now that he found the exit to this sh*thole. However, the nightmares don't end yet… Not that easily…

Thud!!

With a large blast, the debris and the door behind him flew everywhere, and two large creatures seemingly taking the appearance of a Black German shepherd dog with dark horns appeared before his very eyes. Their terrifying eyes looked down at him, as if hunting its prey.

Kendrick immediately knew the situation, and made a run for it… His eyes were full of fear as he bit his lips.

Hellhounds usually hunt in packs, however, when they know their enemy is weaker than them, they rely more on strategy to oppress. They're vicious monsters that cannot be underestimated.

Kendrick did his best to run over the tree, however, the hellhound's wouldn't just sit idly and let him do so. They both separated from each other and chased after him side by side.

There was no time to look back! Kendrick was so close now to the tree, if only he could make it until then!

It didn't take long until they finally managed to catch up to him, and when they were near him, they jumped at him, with intent to immobilize him.

Suddenly, the world stopped in Kendrick's head… He could feel his death coming from behind.

When he was finally about to give up. His life suddenly flashes before his very eyes, everything from when he was a baby till the birthdays he had celebrated, including the special moments he had with Ryan and his siblings until an unknown voice whispered from his ears to wake him up to reality.

"Duck down."

It was a cold and majestic voice.

And before he knew it, the time finally started moving again, and his body forcefully ducked and moved by itself.

The hellhounds caught nothing and ended up crashing on the decoration tree. The tree fell down to the side along with the hellhounds, and soon enough, a small glimpse of hope finally showed up.

Without hesitation, Kendrick entered inside the hole and escaped the manor through an underground passage leading to nowhere. When the hellhounds regained its strength, it tried to chase after Kendrick through breaking the walls, however, Alissa made it just in time and stopped them.

Alissa glared at the small hole as her heart started beating so fast in fear… Now she is really doomed at this rate. She attempted to enter the hole, but as she was about to step inside…

Her biggest nightmare came to hit her.

"What are you doing..?"

Viscount Anwir arrived at the scene, his eyes were so terrifyingly cold as he looked down upon his daughter.

On the other hand, the passageway luckily led outside the manor, and when Kendrick finally came to the surface… He found himself in a forest far from their manor.

Kendrick looked into the sky and witnessed the beauty of the moon of the night. Before he knew it, a smile crept up from his face.

He had finally escaped… He managed to escape that hellhole.

Although he could barely stand, Kendrick was so happy he was finally able to escape from the tortures. However, he knew, he's not safe yet…

Kendrick reached out to the forest as he started walking towards it in an attempt to escape.

However, after taking a few heavy steps, his body couldn't finally take it and fell down before his mind did.

Kendrick watched the dark mysterious forest disappear from his sight as he slowly lost consciousness…
