Chapter 1Chapter 1- Fish Blasting (1)

Above, the sun showed, its bright hot glare engulfing the landscape. The sky was a light blue, with white clouds akin to cotton candy drifted lazily. A few birds flew about, chirping peacefully over the verdant green forest. In the distance, a large city stood, filled with orange-tiled buildings and windmills. At the pinnacle of the city, lay a giant cathedral in all its majesty. This was the city of freedom, Mondstadt.

Below, on the outskirts of Mondstadt, two figures made their way down the wrought dirt path. One was a small child, while the other was a young teen.

The young teen seemed quite foreign, with messy and thick long black hair coming down to his knees, and a rough masculine face. He had two black ear piercings, and black fingerless gloves. Wearing a long black shirt and loose hakama pants, he seemed out of place in the surroundings.

The small child was a short girl around eight to nine years of age. With pale skin, a happy grin and wide sparkling chestnut-like red eyes, she seemed like the epitome of innocence. Her pale blonde hair was tied back in pigtails. Wearing a red coat over a white dress that seemed to be embellished with clovers and other insignia's, she looked like the type of kid you'd see running down the street playing with her friends. Not to mention the leather backpack and huge floppy beanie of sorts.

"So. Is this really a good idea?" Scratching his head, Kenzo wasn't exactly sure if he should have come. The acting Grandmaster wouldn't be very…

Happy to hear that he had supported this problem child's endeavors.

"C'mon! Fish blasting is really fun!" Tugging him along, the small chipper girl dragged Kenzo across the grass outside Mondstadt.

"Yes, yes, yes…. Klee….. Though, if we get caught, please don't try to blame it on me…" Sighing, Kenzo brushed aside his long black hair, smirking at the small red-clad knight.

"Hmph! Don't worry! Yesterday, me and Dodoco found a really, REALLY good place! Its nowhere near anybody, and there are lots of fish!" Pouting, Klee jumped into the air, rolling across a log.

"Huh." Nodding, Kenzo followed, jumping over boulders and other obstacles.

After a while, they found themselves deep in the Whispering Woods, with the Stormbearer Mountains in sight through the tree canopy.

A squirrel skittered away as Klee laughed joyfully, her eyes full of stars.

Sprinting for a few more minutes, the pair arrived before a small lake. Extending pretty far, it was nowhere near the size of the Cider Lake, the famous body of water that surrounded Mondstadt, but still, it was quite the sight. The water was crystal clear, with sunlight reflecting off its surface, and along the side of its bank, various birds mingled about.

Klee looked out into the water for a second. Then, making her way down and onto a beach. On this sandy beach, remnants of destroyed wood and other things could be seen. It was obvious that someone had been… working on something here.

Now, in the middle of the beach, a very noticeable sign could be seen. It looked hastily put together, consisting of two planks of wood, nailed together. Painted in red paint, two words were written.

[Don't Touch!]

"Klee..." Kenzo tapped his forehead, expression deadpanned.

The child in question looked up, tilting her head in confusion. "What?" She asked, her high-pitched voice scaring away a few nearby pigeons.

"If you put a sign that says 'Don't Touch!', the chance of it being….. Touched, will increase." Sighing, Kenzo chuckled a bit. The innocence that children had in this world truly was beautiful.

"Really?" Pondering over this, Klee shook her head, ignoring the question and went up to the sign, pulling it out of the ground and carefully propping it against a tree.

Underneath, she dug into the sand, groaning a bit as she pulled out what seemed to be…. A long mismatch of wood? "Da-da da!!!! Look! Isn't it awesome!" She spoke proudly, clapping her gloves together.

"Yes… But what is it?" Confused, Kenzo asked.

In response, she jumped in the air, hopping on top of the thing, before speaking: "Ta-da! Its a raft!"

"Huh." Nodding, Kenzo scratched his head, staring down at the "raft".

"I spent all day yesterday working on it!" Klee said proudly, placing her leather backpack on the sand floor.

Bending down, Kenzo moved it out of all the sand and debris that had previously covered it. Crooked and unevenly weighed, the raft wasn't exactly seaworthy, but it was quite impressive for a child.

"So, why a raft? Isn't fishing from the beaches easier?"

"Umm…. Well, most of the fish seem to like the middle."

"Is that so?"

Later...

"Klee. You seem quite sure that we won't fall into the water…" Kenzo sat there awkwardly as they set out into the water, with a wooden stick in his hand, acting as a oar of sorts. It was honestly a miracle that the "raft" was still floating.

The two, especially Klee, with all her gear and bombs weighed down the raft quite a bit. Water occasionally splashed about on the vessels wooden floor.

They went forward, gliding across the peaceful water. Rowing, Kenzo hummed a little song. As they went across, the raft seemed to splash and tilt constantly. Though Kenzo didn't have much trouble staying balanced, Klee was a little off, scrambling about, which in turn, made the raft even more unstable.

"Aiyehh!!!!" Klee awkwardly clutched Kenzo's leg, holding on for dear life.

"Do you regret this?" Looking down, Kenzo asked curiously.

"Nope! Hanging out with you is awesome! And fun! You let me have loads of fun!" Klee smiled wide, beaming.

Chuckling wistfully, Kenzo rowed on, thinking of times long past. She reminded him of his siblings, all those years ago.

They were alot like her, positive and happy. Kenzo still remembered there joy-filled laughter and all those tearful memories…. If only they had lived. But then, what other horrors would they have witnessed? They weren't like Klee, weren't lucky enough to be born in such a free, peaceful place.

But that was long ago.

Better not dwell on the past.

Soon, they arrived in the middle of the lake, below them, Kenzo could see all the way too the bottom. It was pretty shallow, a normal person could probably swim to the bottom with minimal effort. The lake bed was mostly sand, with a few rock formations sticking out. Various aquatic life swam below. Various fish, crabs, etc.

"Klee." Nodding to the small child, she peered over the edge, looking down in joy at the amount of fish swimming about. All of which, were oblivious to the danger to come.

"Ok! Let's get ready!" Reaching into her pocket, Klee procured a few small leather covered bombs from her pocket.

"Wait…. Klee. Won't we be blown away by the bombs?" Scratching his head, Kenzo propped the long stick on his shoulder, sending droplets of water through the air.

"Huh?" Shifting her position on the raft, Klee suddenly froze, not knowing what to do. She was in a throwing stance, which made the situation even more awkward. Sighing, she spoke in sorrow: "Aww.... I really wanted to show you some awesome explosions!"

"Well, there is an area where we could stand." Staring to the left, Kenzo pointed to a small miniature island. It was basically a boulder sticking out of the water. Just enough for a person to stand on.

Gripping the stick once more, he pulled it through the water with practically no resistance. The raft was in turn propelled through the water, bumping into the small "island".

Slowly steadying herself and getting to her feet, Klee jumped onto the island.

Kenzo steadied the boat, putting one foot on the island and the other on the raft.
