War (1)

Before this chapter starts I just wanted to say sorry for not updating this for a while. School has started back for me, before I only had 2 to 3 days on school per week now it's from Monday to Friday so I can't write as often.

I only have 2 more years of high school so I gotta get really serious with my work, I'm not behind or anything I just want to get the best I possibly can.

So I didn't write during that time, I didn't want to give you a half assed chapter. Oh, also. I got a new editing program. Hope ya like this chap!!🥰🥳

Muichiro held the sword in both hands and shot forward, getting close to the ground with his sword to his side.

[Mist Breathing. Forth Form: Shifting Flow Slash]

'Fast.' Kyojuro thought taking a step back and tightening his grip. When Muichiro approached, he raised his sword and slashed upwards. Muichiro's attack was blocked by Kyojuro who was holding the sword over his head with the edge pointing downwards.

Muichiro hummed, biting his lower lip. He raised one foot and kicked Kyojuro in the chest, not to hurt him but to put some distance between them.

[Flame Breathing. First Form: Unknowing Fire]

Kyojuro lunged forward towards Muichiro. It took mere seconds for Kyojuro to be front of him, sending a powerful slash to his torso just as his feet touched the dirt beneath him. Muichiro frowned slightly as he realized his stance was incorrect and he wasn't completely grounded.

Unlike the demons he has faced thus far, none of them have been particularly intelligent. They're mostly brutes who don't know how to take advantage of a situation. Kyojuro, on the other hand, was astute and knew exactly when to exploit a situation. Muichiro realized he should probably start sparring with Hashiras more often.

Muichiro leaned back, causing the slash to graze him just barely. He took one step back, broadening his stance.

[Mist Breathing. Second Form: Eight-Layered Mist]

Muichiro slashed forward, releasing eight large slashes. When he didn't see anything good happen, he frowned. Instead of standing nearby, the Flame Pillar was in the air, holding the sword over his head.

[Flame Breathing. Third Form: Blazing Universe]

Kyojuro slashed down with his body, adding strength to the slash. He wasn't using his full strength, of course, because no one goes all out on a simple spar. Kyojuro only wanted to spar with Muichiro to put him to the test and to see Mist Breathing in action, as he had never seen it before.

Muichiro raised his sword, deflecting the incoming blow. His arms were crossed, and he held the wooden sword's hilt. Kyojuro's sword slid down as he tilted his sword down slightly. Kyojuro didn't let this deter him from attacking the Mist Hashira.

He'd quickly learned that giving Muichiro any time to attack was a bad idea.

[Flame Breathing. Flame Tiger [Fifth Form]

From the side, Kyojuro slashed several times towards Muichiro.

[Mist Breathing. Second Form. Improved: Twelve-Layered Mist]

Muichiro slashed forward, but this time he used twelve slashes instead of eight.

"Wait a minute!"

"Huh?" Muichiro halted in place tilting his head slightly to the side. He was about to do something really cool, mostly to show off because he was in a good mood today.

"Was that another form?" Kyojuro asked, looking down at Muichiro.

"No way. It was simply a reworked version of one of the forms. Instead of eight slashes, I did twelve; I could have done up to sixteen but chose not to." Muichiro shrugged and walked back to Kyojuro's house.

Kyojuro graded his shoulder and dragged him back to where they had previously stood.

"We're going to train! You said you wanted to learn Flame Breathing, didn't you?"

"Oh yeah, I forgot about that part." Muichiro agreed to be dragged away from the mochi just once. Muichiro would have smacked the yellow out of Kyojuro on any other day.

'This is going to be a pain in the ass. Fortunately, I wouldn't have any missions for a while. I'm wondering how my cats are doing; I really need to come up with names for them.' With a sigh, Muichiro reflected.

Several Days Later

Muichiro was back at the base, sitting in the tree as he always did, drinking milk tea as he always does. Training with Kyojuro was good, but nothing out of the ordinary, if he's being honest. They mostly practice Flame Breathing forms and are spared. He didn't have to go through any special training like he did before joining the corps.

It took a bit more time to learn it. He couldn't possibly have mastered Flame Breathing in that short of time. He couldn't even master Mist Breathing in a week, let alone a style that wasn't suited for him. Even though that was the case, he still did. Muichiro wasn't going to let that get in his way; he just needed to put in a little more effort.

After a while, Muichiro finished his tea and hopped off the tree, landing softly on the ground below. He wandered around for a while, looking for something to do. He considered going to see Mitsuri, but realized she was probably with Shinobu because the two women spend a lot of time together.

But his boredom was about to be over. He noticed Tengen sneaking around with a box, despite the fact that NOBODY was in sight. Muichiro stood in place, staring at the Sound Hashira as he moved around "sneakily" through the base. Tengen bucked behind a tree, shielding himself from view.

Muichiro blinked as he walked over to the tree, curious as to what this man was doing. He may be an idiot at times, but Muichiro is never bored with him. When he arrived at the tree, he noticed Tengen crouched down with a black box on his lap.

He was giggling like a little girl, his eyes filled with mischievous intent. Muichiro had a feeling something interesting was going to happen today, and he wanted to be there to witness it.

Tengen paused his giggling and turned to face his fellow Hashira, as if expecting him.

"I see you were able to solve my flamboyant message, Muichiro-san." As he spoke, he cocked his head. "And you're early; all we have to do now is wait for Kyojuro-san to arrive."

"What message are you talking about?" Muichiro stood there perplexed, believing Tengen had gone insane. It was possible, he has three wives after all. Muichiro never understood why people needed more than one partner.

He's not judging anyone for something like that, but it's just not for him. He was a straightforward individual, and having more than one would be too complicated for him. You'd be correct if you called him lazy.

Tengen pointed to Muichiro's cup, his smile still on his face, revealing his white teeth. Muichiro held his cup, which was very expensive and extremely difficult for him to obtain.

It was a white cut with golden patterns all over it's exterior. The cup was quite large, but that was the whole point.

{Here's a picture}

When Muichiro is at the base, he only drinks from this cup and the set that came with it. If he's out and about, he can't really use it unless he carries it with him, which would be a stupid move.

Muichiro examined it and said something about it at the bottom. Muichiro noticed writing that appeared to be morse code, and he was correct. He wiped a small section to see if it would come off; luckily for Tengen, it did.

If it didn't, the boy was going to make him live with the consequences for the rest of his life. But there was one small issue: Muichiro didn't know fucking morse code. He never learned it, not even the fundamentals.

He never considered learning it; perhaps sign language, but not morse code. His gaze was drawn to Tengen.

"I don't know morse code."

As he deadpanned, the Sound Pillar's smile faded slowly. He turned to face Muichiro, then to the cup. Tengen raised his head again, but Muichiro could tell he was upset by the gritting of his teeth and the irk on his brow.

"Why don't you know it!?" Tengen yelled angrily at Muichiro.

Muichiro's eye twitched as he fought the urge to beat the flamboyance out of him.

"What exactly do you mean by "why don't you know it?" Oh, I'm not sure, maybe because I've never needed to learn bloody morse code! I'm a Demon Slayer, I exterminate demons! Do you think I'm just going to walk up to them and say, "Beep bop be bop?" NO! I cut their heads off and go about my business as if nothing had happened, and I forget about them half an hour later!" Tengen was startled a little by Muichiro's outburst.

Muichiro rarely displayed emotions because he had difficulty expressing and sometimes feeling them.

"That's a good point." Tengen coughed, turning away from the fuming Muichiro. He'd never seen Muichiro show so much emotion before, and seeing him angry was a little frightening. He made a mental note to only annoy the boy when he can immediately flee. "All we have to do now is wait for Kyojuro-san to arrive. Sweets?"

Tengen took some candy from his pocket in the hopes of appeasing Muichiro's rage. The Mist Hashira frowned at the candy, reverting to his usual demeanor.

"Are you attempting to entice me with candy?"

"Yes." Tengen responds immediately.

Muichiro sat on the ground and ate all but one of the candy. He peeled off the wrapper and ate the orange-flavored candy inside. Muichiro crossed his legs and leaned against the tree truck, waiting for Kyojuro.
