Chapter 42: Elena's Daily Life

Elena's life as Kazrach's wife was not like any other human's life. As a demon prince, Kazrach was responsible forthe protection and management of his realm, and Elena was expected to play a role in those responsibilities as well. As a human, Elena had much to learn about the ways of demons and their customs, but Kazrach had taken it upon himself tothe affairs of his kingdom, and as his wife, Elena had to tend to the needs of the demon court as well. Her daily routine involved tasks that would be considered unusual for a human but were a part of Kazrach's world.

Elena's day began before sunrise when Kazrach left for his duties in the demon kingdom. Before he left, she had to prepare his breakfast, which consisted of raw meat and blood. Elena found it difficult to stomach such food, but it was essential for Kazrach's nourishment. Once Kazrach left, Elena would start her own duties.

Firstly, she would tend to their own household. Their castle was vast, and it required maintenance regularly. Elena had servants to help her, but she preferred to do most of the tasks herself. After her household duties, Elena would turn her attention to the court's affairs. As Kazrach's wife, she was responsible for the welfare of the demon court. She had to ensure that the court ran smoothly and efficiently. Elena had to meet with the other demon lords to discuss the kingdom's governance, propose new policies, and attend to the concerns and needs of the subjects.

Apart from these responsibilities, Elena had to navigate the political intrigue and machinations of the demon court. Kazrach's rivals would often try to undermine him, and Elena had to be vigilant and diplomatic when dealing with them. She was the only human in the demon court, and some demon lords still had doubts about her loyalty. Elena proved her loyalty by helping to uncover a plot against Kazrach's life, putting her own life in danger.

Elena's human perspective and compassion helped her to be a bridge between the demon world and humanity. She would sometimes take on the cases of human prisoners who had been wrongly accused and sentenced to death. Elena's pleas to Kazrach for clemency, and her arguments based on human morality and ethics, often persuaded him to grant mercy.

Elena's life also had its challenges. Living in a world where demons ruled meant that she had to confront her fear and prejudice against them. She had to witness gruesome scenes and attend to bizarre and grotesque rituals. Some demons would mock her for her human sensibilities, and she had to learn to hold her ground and not back down. Despite the challenges, Elena found happiness in her marriage to Kazrach. She admired his strength, intelligence, and sense of justice. Kazrach respected her courage, intelligence, and compassion. They had a deep understanding and profound love for each other.

In the evenings, Elena and Kazrach would share their day's stories over dinner. She would try different dishes to please Kazrach, who had acquired a taste for some human cuisine. As the night fell, Kazrach would retire to his chambers, while Elena would retire to hers.
