Chapter 194

There was a rare type of mage among the continent. Among the many types that someone could be born as they were rare. If one was born with their ability it was known instantly that they would be gifted with a future tied to a job with high rank. In fact most of them were bound to be recruited directly by royal families among the twelve kingdoms.

Known as a Psychic Mage they were high sought after for a couple reasons.

Their minds were able to pour out their mana for multiple uses. Using their mana they could use crystals, often crafted into crystal balls, to communicate with others who shared their abilities. Even going as far as to create holographic images of places and people. They were like living communication devices.

Though their second talent was one that was more along the lines of dangerous. The way that they were capable of controlling sound waves when it came to communication became a weapon for them as well. Utilizing sound to fight caused the royal families to often hear arguments over whether or not they should be considered as dual mages. It was difficult to consider their talents as anything else. These rare talents were something the royal families desired to have for their own armies to strengthen. If they weren't needed for communication they were offered jobs among the knights or guards.

Uriel stood there with his crystal ball in one hand and sighed. Times like these made him wonder why he turned down a comfortable job with a royal palace and instead drown in work along Johan's side.

Watching the executioner rushing towards Johan Lovette he paused.

Whistle~

Uriel whistled a tune that echoed throughout the air. Silent and serene as that whistle sounded soon turned into a violent cry as it pulsed in the air. Creating a deafening screech in the ears of those who stood in front of Uriel. Aoki could not stop his own ears from bleeding as he bent over and shuddered under the violent noise.

In a daze Aoki stumbled for a moment while the sound began to fade away. With an opening given due to his dazed state Ashley quickly rushed at him from behind. Aoki could sense the vampire closing in on him causing him to instinctively raise his hand. Blocking Ashley's scythe with his bare hand by gripping hold of the blade. The blade slicing the palm of his hand as he held it back firmly.

"Fireball!" The prince's voice could be heard calling out from a distance.

Aoki moved backwards as he felt a burning heat closing in on him. Catching a glimpse of a ball of fire whooshing past his head. The prince had directly aimed the fire at him in order to force him to part from Ashley.

"You people and your tricks." Aoki grumbled as he felt annoyed by the prince's fire.

Prince Leo could feel his heart racing at the scene that Uriel had just made which his own abilities. It was a rare thing to see someone from Uriel's class make an offensive move. They were simply too rare that very few actually ended up in the knight's line of work.

"Don't get distracted!" Prince Leo shouted out the words. Those words were intended for himself as he thought about how he needed to focus on the fight. He struggled with the thought of how he wanted to be less of a burden to others.

The thing with growth is it was different for Prince Leo compared to Vorbuk. Vorbuk was a companion wolf who's body could change over every stage of growth he had. It depended on how he evolved over time.

When growth in Leo's capabilities grew over time they weren't visibly seen from the outside. For Prince Leo every stage of growth his body underwent it was felt differently. It was like the sensation of having a heavy chain unshackled from his body.

Holding his sword as he readied himself Prince Leo could feel his body's change as his mind cleared. It was not sudden but able to be noticed by himself. It was like looking at the world through a slowed speed as he cleared his mind of needless distractions.

The speed at which the vampire, Aoki, moved as faster then an average eye could follow. Prince Leo's vision was not able to completely keep up with him. Yet at the same time it was not as difficult to follow his movements as before. He could predict easier the pathway the vampire may take by the directions his body shifted.

CLANG!!

Prince Leo blocked the vampire's dagger as Aoki struck at him from the side. Fire ignited from his sword as their weapons scraped against each other's blades. The heat was enough to make Aoki flinch.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Aoki blocked the prince's sword again and again while also avoiding the incoming attacks from Ashley's scythe. His movements did not require a weapon to block every single attempt they made at him. With his level of speed they were like children playing tag with him no matter how many times they swung at him.

The flames on Prince Leo's sword blazed hotter as he swung once more. This time sending out a wave of flames that cut through the temple's ground. Half encasing Aoki so that he could no longer make such wide movements to escape them.

"I'm really tired of playing cat and mouse with this bastard." Ashley's exhausted complaint could be heard being uttered from behind Prince Leo where he stood as Ashley stopped behind him.

"Then don't give him room to keep moving." Prince Leo mocked him while moving in for another strike.

CLANG!!

Aoki blocked the strike from the blazing sword once again. Sparks of flame crackling close to his face as his eyes showed how uncomfortable he was with the heat.

From Behind Aoki could sense Ashley's scythe cutting down towards him. Twisting his body around as he knocked the sword away. Aoki's body shifted and twirled as his legs swung upward. His feet kicking straight into Ashley's chest as he sent the vampire backwards.

Landing perfectly on his own hands and feet, Aoki glanced in the direction that Ashley had been sent flying. His attention being pulled away soon as he felt the incoming attack from the prince's sword.

Thump!

"Urgh!" Aoki's movements paused.

Something was wrong. Aoki felt a sudden coldness come over him. There was a sharp pain in Aoki's back. Slowly turning his gaze he could see the blood scythe. It's blade had pierced right into his shoulder. Ashley had blind sided him while he was distracted on the prince.

"You let your guard down. Look who's becoming desperate now." Ashley mocked Aoki as he pulled his weapon back.

"Are you intentionally trying to argue with him in this situation?" Prince Leo did not want to argue with Aoki over something like that.

Aoki's stance stumbled a bit as he glared at Ashley and the prince in turn. His fangs bared as he lifted a hand to feel his wound. The blood could be felt running down his back and hand.
