Chapter 14

Today is the 3rd day of the new student examination.

Headmaster Yan told Long Chen to take a few days off ,in order to refrain him from pushing himself too much. Long Chen with nothing to do, decided to head to the outer school examination district to spectate the tournament. He wanted to watch this part of the story in person.

It is too eye-catching for him to appear out of nowhere. He attracts too much attention as a student from the inner-sanctuary. Therefore, he had to wear a cloak and pretend to be a staff member. Naturally, he made sure to inform Wang Yan, the examination teacher, that he'll be present.

Yuhao's team were going up against class 7's Team Huang Chutian.

Long Chen observed as all six students release their spirit essences. Surely enough, Wang Dong's light goddess butterfly essence is very bright and beaitiful. The first one to attack was Huang Chutian, who launches himself into the air and prepares two punches directed at Wang Dong.

Wang Dong manages to block it with his wings but is pushed back.

"How's that! My fists are pretty strong!!" He yells but was also pushed back by one of Xiao xiao's cauldron. "I've been tricked!" he holds his nose that bled a little from the hit.

"Ooh, a nose bleed. It must have been effective!" Wang Dong gloats but sulks when the surrounding people seem to be more interested in his teammates spirit essence and power.

"Hercules Ape spirit essence? See if you are able to block my Guillotine Wings!" the outline of Wang Dong's butterfly wings sharpen like golden knives and was prepared to attack the opponent. However, he was interrupted by a merged ability from the twin sisters behind Huang Chutian.

The hair of the twins stretched and grew longer, transforming into a large net made of hair, almost trapping Wang Dong if he hadn't cut them all with his already sharpened wings. Wang Dong successfully escaped from the net and flies straight towards the enemy leader.

"Come! It'll be your death!" The opposing leade shouts, waiting for the confrontation but it didn't happen as at the last second, Wang Dong changed his direction and flew straight at the twins behind him while Chutian came face to face again with Xiao xiao's cauldron.

The twins ,left with no other choice, had to use their special spirit fusion ability. They both hugged each other and released their spirit energy.

'Oh, here it comes.' Long Chen stares expectantly. He watched as their ability covered almost the entirety of the field like a web. Wang Dong couldn't stop in time and got caught up in the web.

With their main attacker trapped, Xiao xiao had to be on defense against the spirit fusion ability but even her spirit essence got caught up and couldn't block it properly.

Cornered, Yuhao is forced to use his mental attack skill to inflict damage on the twins.

'Without experience and mental endurance, this attack does prove to be fatal during battles.'

The outcome was obvious even more so when their spirit energy was exhausted from Wang Dong's last effort of attack. The two sisters fainted as they weren't able to withstand the combination of purple demonic eyes + soul shock and their fatigue. Nonetheless, this had also left the two tired from the depletion of spirit energy.

Chutian took the chance to attack Xiaoxiao who is the last member who can still move. He leaps into the air but is once again blocked by a cauldron. 'Such an annoying technique.'

This time Xiao xiao surround the opponent with all three of her cauldrons. "Let's see where you can hide now! Take this!"

Chutian smirks and uses his fist to send an attack towards Xiao xiao. "See what you can do first!" He might've been successful in his attempt to distract Xiao xiao and get close the distance if t hadn't been for Yuhao's mental distortion skill which caused him to miss. "Eh? I...I missed?"

Not wasting this opening, Xiao xiao sends the boy flying. "Bye bye."

'It sure is satisfying seeing these battles in person. Today, marks the day Yuhao and Wang Dong first got interested in the spirit fusion and will be trying it out later on.' Long Chen smiles, waiting for the day where he will be fighting them.

The rest of their battle went smoothly even without Wang Dong to help them due to his depletion of spirit energy. Xiao xiao was the one to carry both of the team's offence and defense. Long chen stood beside Wang Yan, trying to hold back his laughting as he watch the teacher beside him try so hard at guessing Yuhao's spirit essence.

He could just straight out tell him, but Long Chen figured that it'll much more interesting to see the teacher find out later. 'I've been influenced by Xiao Tao's bad habit of teasing.'

At the end of today's tournament, Yuhao's team won all 5 of their matches. Wang Yan walked up to them and called out, "Yuhao, can you come here for a moment?"

"Congratulations on your undefeated record. You guys are very strong." Teacher Wang compliments them with a smile but his real intention was to ask, "Yuhao, what is your spirit essence? I have not been able to figure it out throughout the tournament. But I believe you are the heart of this team."

" You flatter me. but it was all due to the strength of Wang Dong and Xiao xiao."

"You don't need to be modest. I;m sure you are strong too, else how did you become captain. I wanted to determine your spirit essence is with my own eyes but it seems I have lost. Can you give me an explanation?"

"Teacher Wang, my spirit essence is spirit eyes." he points to his eyes.

"Spirit Eyes!! Your spirit essence is SPIRIT EYES?!" Teacher Wang exclaims.

"Are...are you ok?"

"Tell me quickly!! Your spirit essence is spirit eyes!!" the teacher needed to confirm it a second time while garbbing onto Yuhao's shoulders.

"Yes!" Yuhao answers.

"Are you from Benti sect?" he inquires with a wary look on his face.

"Haven't heard of them before."

Upon hearing Yuhao's answer, his eyes light up excitedly. "Amazing! This is too good to be true!! I can't believe Shrek academy is such good luck!! To have someone with body spirit essence!!" The teacher jumps up and down in exhilaration.

"Pft-" enable to resist, Long Chen had to cover his mouth to block the laughter from coming out but his trembling shoulders have exposed him. The way Teacher Wang fusses over the rare spirit essence, reminded Long Chen of the time Teacher Wang first questions him on his spirit essence. A sense of deja vu.

Yuhao heard a sound coming nearby and saw another person behind Teacher Wang who's head in covered by the cloak. 'Who is that?'

"I'll come find you later! See you soon!"

Before Yuhao could find out the identity of the other person, teache Wang had took the said person by the arms and dragged him away. Long Chen didn't bother to resist at all.

"You kew that Yuhao's ability was spirit eyes, didn't you?" Teacher Wang confront the teen. "Why didn't you just tell me!!"

"Well, first of all you didn't ask. Secondly,..." Long Chen's smiles a little,"It was just hard to tell you when you were trying so hard."

"You could've saved me so much dignity instead of having me ask a student for an answer..."

"Teacher Wang, you should just admit to what you can't do. It'll all a part of growing." Long Chen made a half-hearted excuse.

"*sigh*, you're really starting to resemble Ma Xiao Tao recently."

"Maybe. I was told off by her saying that I should take time to enjoy myself more."

"Well, I won't say any more considering she's right on the part that you tend to carry too much responsibility on your shoulders, especially when you're part of the current Shrek Seven Devils."
