(Aftermath)
Far in the future after Mordred's death, the civilization is still the same as if they haven't advanced after a few hundred years, but that is mainly Black Dragon's fault. The Black Dragon caused havoc and destruction that caused many kingdoms to fall.
Even after Mordred defeats the Black Dragon, the world undergoes a healing state for a few decades. This shows that the Black Dragon isn't a joke; the impact the Black Dragon caused isn't something small.
After a hundred years, the remaining kingdoms had already stabilized, with some even attempting to profit from nearly ruined kingdoms. But most importantly, their investigation into searching for Mordred's sword.
Why is it important? This is because they believed that Mordred's sword, called Fortis, was powerful enough to make anyone that wielded it have unimaginable power. Some wanted to use it to dominate other kingdoms, and some, with pure intention, wanted to honor Mordred's deed for defeating and saving the world from the Black Dragon.
But to no avail, they couldn't find Mordred's sword. They believed it was destroyed in the battle when the true fact is that Mordred's sword, Fortis, was never destroyed in a battle between Mordred and the Black Dragon.
Time has passed, and with the power of time, Mordred and the Black Dragon are slowly becoming legends. Some people still believe Mordred isn't a fake. However, with no evidence to prove that Mordred is real, Mordred and the Black Dragon became famous legends among everyone's childhoods.
You could say that Mordred became an idol for children, especially little girls who wanted to be knights or strong.
But today, the legend is about to be awakened, and it's time for her to write a new legend again. However, this time she isn't alone, not anymore.
(This is Ancient of Ancient, Mordred's world isn't either Shield, Sword, Spear or Bow. Mordred's world is related to four of them, I don't know how to explain this but maybe I'll explain this in the future)
* * *
Naofumi Iwatani is a shield hero with an infamous reputation. He was framed as a rapist and betrayed. He changed overnight from a positive person to someone who hates women and is filled with mistrust of everybody.
However, with the presence of Raphtalia, Naofumi slowly changes... at least for the better.
Before the waves of calamity began, Raphtalia and Naofumi found a strange book in a cave. A black, dusty old book seemingly looks ancient.
Raphtalia picked it up since she thought it was a rare book from ancient times.
While camping outside, they eat their dinner before going to sleep. However, before Naofumi and Raphtalia go to sleep, Raphtalia persuades Naofumi to read the old book she picks up.
"Alright, Alright! Stop begging, I'm gonna read it." Naofumi sighed. Raphtalia is pretty excited to see what the book has to tell.
All Naofumi could see was blank paper. He flipped many pages to see if there were single words. Every time he flips the paper, his expression gets sour.
Raphtalia looked disappointed to see that it was only an empty book.
Suddenly, Naofumi found a name written on it.
[Kousuke Itoshi]
Naofumi is surprised to see a Japanese name in this old book. Naofumi's curiosity is peaked while Raphtalia can only read the name with confusion.
"Kous- Kusuke I-Itosi?"
"It's Kousuke Itoshi." Naofumi corrected Raphtalia's pronunciation.
"Then do you know who is this Kousuke person, Naofumi-sama?" Raphtalia asks
"No, I don't. Only the name sounds pretty familiar." Naofumi answered to which Raphtalia nodded.
Seeing there's nothing besides the Japanese name, Naofumi flipped the page to see if there's something else.
On the paper, a name was written in red color with magnificent handwriting.
[Mordred Pendragon]
"Mordred Pendragon?" Naofumi said out loud.
Naofumi knows Mordred Pendragon, Earth Version. Mordred is the son of Arthur Pendragon, who killed his own father. But he never expected legend from his world to exist here as well.
"Ah, isn't that the name of the legendary Red Knight?" Raphtalia exclaimed, seemingly recognizing the name.
"Do you know who he is, Raphtalia?" Naofumi asks with curiosity.
"Of course! Mordred Pendragon is a very famous legend that is well-known among everyone! And, she is not a male, Naofumi-sama."
Naofumi blinked, "Really?"
"I'm not joking, Naofumi-sama."
Naofumi was bewildered; all he knew about Mordred was that he was a man, not a woman. However, because he is in a different world, not everything is the same as Earth.
"Okay... could you tell me about the legend?" Naofumi asks.
Raphtalia happily accepted and tells Naofumi about the Red Knight Legend, "Mordred Pendragon is supposedly from the ancient times when the Black Dragon was still alive. Not much is known about Mordred's true origin, but because she bears the name Pendragon, she could be related to Arthur Pendragon, King of the Fallen Camelot."
Naofumi nodded, there's some that the same with his Earth Version but Black Dragon? Naofumi was amazed.
"Black Dragon?"
"The Black Dragon is the calamity dragon who goes on a rampage in ancient times, causing many kingdoms to fall to ruin." Raphtalia answered, to which Naofumi nodded, since it's a magic world after all.
Raphtalia continues her story about Mordred, "Mordred Pendragon is the embodiment of the strongest knight in ancient times. There's not much known about Mordred's personality but many believed that Mordred is a pretty arrogant and reckless person. However, even if her personality isn't that favorable, her deed defeating Black Dragon is heroic.
Mordred wielded the legendary Fortis Sword, of which everyone claimed that it was destroyed in battle against the Black Dragon."
"I see..." Naofumi nodded again. Naofumi doesn't really know much about Mordred, so he can only nod.
"Mordred has many titles, for instance, Empress Knight and Demon King, but the most famous title is Red Knight, since Mordred wears a noticeable red cape. Mordred is also an idol for everyone who yearned to be a knight."
After Raphtalia finishes her story about Legendary Red Knight, Naofumi flips the page again only to be dumbfounded.
Raphtalia glances at the page and finds out a text in an unknown language, "Naofumi-sama, can you read it?"
After a few seconds of not responding, Naofumi nodded. The reason why Naofumi is so surprised is that the text was written in the Japanese language.
(This is different from the previous chapter, I just feel like doing the new one)
"The one who was trapped in endless void! Awakened from the pitch-black darkness in order to start new legend! Heed my summons, Legendary Red Knight, Mordred Pendragon!" Naofumi yelled, feeling a little chuunibyou reading it.
(Cringe? Welp, I know)
Suddenly the book started floating causing Naofumi and Raphtalia to be startled. The page flips itself as if the air causes the page to flip.
Mordred Pendragon name was displayed as the page stop flipping itself. The text started to glow red, Naofumi and Raphtalia could only watch as it's happened.
The book started creating a portal with the height of the average human being. Naofumi and Raphtalia put their guard up in case something dangerous came out.
Tap!
A figure came out from the portal. Blonde messy with a cute face but fierce, gaze at Raphtalia and Naofumi. The book burns to ashes as the figure stabs her sword at the ground, her red cape fluttering as if the wind welcomes her return.
"Mordred Pendragon. The Red Knight and the slayer of Black Dragon! Heed your summons!" Mordred yelled as a proud smirk formed on her face.
- To Be Continued
(A/N: I really don't know if the Japanese language and Raphtalia's world language are the same but let's just say it's not.
For now, I don't really think there will be a love interest. Just for a reminder, I don't do yuri or yaoi. I don't hate the stuff, but I don't do the stuff and have never shown any interest in it. Mordred's relationship with Naofumi is complicated as a master and servant.
And even if Mordred loved Naofumi, she would never let anyone have Naofumi, so yeah, no romance for Mordred now. But if there's one suitable male character (NOT OC) in this series, there may be a chance of Mordred having a love interest)
(Sorry if there any grammar mistakes)
