[Your body is receiving nature-elemental particles. You have regenerated 3 HP]

A dozen seconds.

It's all it took for Arthur to return to his peak condition, his slightly injured wrist was now even better than before. This was Evangeline's uniqueness.

Nature-elemental acolytes were very rare. In any expedition, they would be treated with utmost care. However, their lack of offensive spells in comparison to fire-elemental acolytes like William made it difficult for them to take solo missions.

William was crouching and checking the body of the orcs: "Arthur! Look at what I found!"

Arthur looked at the object he was holding, and his eyes instantly shined with greed as he scanned the object:

[Ice Perl - Medium-grade Magical Resource

A perl filled with ice elemental particles. It holds great value to acolytes with ice affinity]

"I suppose no one has any objection about me picking this perl for myself, right?", Arthur said out loud

William shook his head: "I don't...But you will be surprised. The orc hunter wearing skin beast had a pouch filled with ice perls!"

Arthur was impressed. Ice perls could be bought in the Ivory Tower, but even with the Old Witch Diana Blackhope's discounts, it would have cost him about three magic crystals to get ahold of one ice perl.

As Arthur approached the pouch, he could count 8 ice perls!

'Orcs are said to believe in stones...They must have picked it up since they are always cold and shiny...', Arthur analysed

[Do you want to consume the object [Ice Perl]?]

'What can I earn from this?', Arthur wondered

[Beep! Expected gains are : increased EXP, slight possibility of awakening [Ice Physique], slight increase in ice elemental affinity]

'Increase in ice elemental affinity?'

It was shocking

Any item that could raise elemental affinity was an incredible treasure. More shockingly, Arthur had never heard of anyone, magus included, consuming magical resources raw. If it could be done, alchemists would not be so wealthy and so respected!

Consuming a magical resource without refining it would most evidently result in death! The amount of mana and elemental particles condensed in a small ice perl was superior to that of an ice-related spell! Only magical beasts could consume such things, and it was only because the natural selection process had granted them digestive organs capable of slowly digesting magical resource. Even then, it would not be an instantaneous process, but something that would take months, if not years!

Arthur did not immediately consume them, but waited for the evening before doing so. He might be skinned by the Ivory Tower Master if he was found with an ability to consume magical resource raw and earn benefits from doing so.

His subordinates didn't find anything of value besides the beast skin that was processed by orcs as well as a few trinkets. Acolytes were curious by nature, and Evangeline found great interest in the totems and charms found on the orc warriors. William was a bit jealous about Arthur's monopoly on valuable resources and ice perls, but he could not say much about it. Still, he collected some herbs on the way, which would hopefully help him in his alchemy studies.

As for John, he was just thankful for being alive.

As the night befell, Arthur took an ice perl and looked at it.

[Would you like to consume an ice perl?]

Arthur nodded.

[You have consumed [Ice Perl - Medium Grade]. You have earned 30 EXP, slight increase in ice affinity. Your magic power grows slightly]

Along with excruciating pain, Arthur could feel his mind expand, his hands turn colder and his EXP bar filling up.

[You have earned 30 EXP, slight increase in ice affinity. Your magic power grows slightly]

A few minutes later, another notification rang in his head.

[You have earned 30 EXP, slight increase in ice affinity. Your magic power grows slightly]

'Seems like it also increases my magic power!'

Instantly, Arthur picked the other perls and smiled.

'Time to grind!'

One perl took roughly twenty minutes to be absorbed, and granted 90 EXP.

By the end of the night, Arthur had consumed the nine perls. He could not be any happier.
