"Why's this guy number one, huh? He was a crook before Hancock set em' straight. When Hancock passed away, Jake here slowly started going back to his old ways. He became less and less heroic by the day. I'm sure now he's only doing it for his son. He never did it for the people in the first place."
"That's why I believe Hero rankings should be based off of popularity mixed in with power. I'd rather have hero with weak quirk, but a strong sense of justice than a hero with a strong quirk, but shallow senses of justice. That's what I think though."
"I see your point. But this is the land of the free. America. We are known for our overwhelming power. If our number one hero had a quirk like snapping super fast, no offense snappy,.."
"None taken…"
"But if our number one had a quirk like that, then well, this nation would crumble in days I'm afraid. That's why we need him. No matter how shallow his sense of justice is."
"What we need is Hancock…"
"He's dead. And personally I believe that his son down there in Maine won't be able to match the kind of aura that he had."
"Isn't he quirkless? I hope he's got a head on him or something because as it stands right now, that son of his is just one big disappointment."
"You idiots are forgetting his mother. Even if he didn't inherit his dads quirk, he still has a chance of becoming like his mom. Azure, the women who caused a worldwide rain storm on the day of Hancocks death.
"…."
"….."
"…."
"Yeah, you're right. But in the end, I'm sure he's gonna have trouble rising up to the top. We have Homefronts son who's two years older than him. And his quirk… it might actually end up becoming stronger than what we realize. We also have After Math and her kid. Man, this next generation of Heroes are something else. What I can say in good faith though is that this nation will continue to prosper and grow with each generation getting stronger."
"Ah, speaking of the next generation… Have you heard of the new Hero who's said to Rival Hancocks raw strength?"
"Yeah, and guess what? I don't believe it one bit!"
"I do. I've seen him in action. He lifted a whole 6 story building one handed while carrying wounded Civilians in his other hand."
"Hmph. And what was his name again."
"It was something that makes everyone thinks he's invincible. The embodiment of power and hope. It was…"
"That's right.."
"All Might."
….
The energy that Homefront absorbs from the sun is stored all throughout his body. His brain, arms, legs, chest, fingers, eyes, etc. The energy stored in his body is what grants him enhanced…. Well, everything.
Now, his eyes. A normal person eyes takes in energy from the sun then converts it into electrical signals that the brain in turn causes you to see.
Homefront however not only does this, but can reverse this process and release that energy back out, creating Homefronts signature move.
Solar Energy Vision. Or what people have dubbed it as Laser Vision.
Du du du du du du du, Du du-
Bullets reigned fire from behind Homefront. The bullets pierced through his cape, but upon contact with his suit, they were squished and ricocheted off of his body.
Homefront turned his head and Lasered the man shooting bullets out from his fingers in half. With brightly burning orange eyes that caused the area around his eyes to glow as well, the lasers produced could cut through anything.
Steel, titanium, diamond, carbon, anything and everything in its path is completely decimated. Not even Hancock himself could consistently tank Homefronts lasers.
Homefront has total control over both the width and strength of his laser vision, making it useful in many different situations. A gentle beam can heat up a doorknob while a stronger and more tightly focused beam can cut through something like steal beams.
As the Villains used their various unique quirks to try and cause any sort of damage to Homefront, he simply kept inching his way towards where Azures defiled body was.
He'd laser Villains down as he made his way through. Throw a barrage of knives at him? They'll be turned into liquid metal. Charge at him head on? Well, your head wouldn't be on its body anymore.
He was a Hero so brutal and fearsome that if you saw him out on the streets, civilians were warned to run away as far as possible.
Their numbers slowly began decreasing. 54, 51, 47, 46, 39, 34, 28, 22, all the way down to the last five people.
"Where the hell is Green Lightning?! That dumb bastard! When the boss hears of this…!!!"
Homefronts attentioned immediately focused on the Villain lingering in the background. When his gaze met Homefronts, he felt the hair on his neck and arms stand to surrender.
Homefront seemingly appeared in front of him, grabbing him by his collar and raising him off his feet.
"Who's this boss of yours? 8-Ball? SirCuddles? The Phantom? Who is it?"
"I-I'll never tell you! So go ahead and kill me now! NOW!"
"Is that… so?"
The Villain flinched as he saw Homefronts eyes go from blue to this hollow orange. Homefront looked him up and down before his eyes changed backed into the blue color they once were.
"You know, you should never keep your wallet on you when working. Had this one time where I was flying and accidentally dropped it over the pacific ocean. I had $50 in there man. $50. Sad day really…"
Homefront used his left hand to reach into the Villains right pocket, pulling his wallet out. He then grabbed a picture out from it, causing this Villains eyes to buck wide open.
"Wow. You're the first one to show any sort of fear. Guess that weird gas is finally wearing off. Now then, who do we have here? Your wife? And daughter too? Wow man, you have such a beautiful family. Bet there just waiting for daddy to come home from his overseas job."
"Stop it…"
"36.157529…. -94.142586… is that where you stay? Where they stay? Think I'll pay your family a visit once I'm finished here. What do you say?"
"Don't… do it…"
"Then tell me the name of your boss and his quirk. That easy…"
"…. And… and you won't do them any sort of harm? I'll tell you ANYTHING if you do them no harm, I beg you, please…"
"Yeah, sure. Heroes promise.." Homefronts uncanny smile didn't back his precious words.
"O-Okay. Our bosses name.. is Time Bomb. He's an emitter. And his quirk… well his quirk is…"
"Is…"
"They caN-"
!!!SssSsPLATT!!!
Brain matter and blood went onto Homefronts face. Dropping the Villains body, Homefront floated back a few feet as his eyes became dark orange.
'What the hell? His head exploded? Why? Because he was about to mention his bosses quirk? Ah, that's pretty smart, Villain. Creating a contingency plan in order to protect his own quirk. This isn't your average Villain.'
As the gas started to wear off and fear began setting in, the remaining four Villains took off. But before the could make it ten inches from where the first were, chunks of earth came from underneath them and surrounded them.
A triangle shaped prison was formed, trapping them inside. From the inside, spikes came out from the walls and pocked at their body. They weren't fatal, but the slightest movement would cause the spikes to penetrate their bodies.
"Tectonic. Did you get everyone in the city to safety?"
Emerging from the earth was bulky Latino man dressed in a grey suit with black lining running through it. He had on black boots and gloves followed by the symbol of a mountain on his chest.
As he emerged completely from the ground, and stood next to Homefront. Though he was tall himself, being 6'1 and all, Homefronts stupidly beefy and muscular body made Tectonic look like a kid and Homefront like a adult grown man.
"Everyones accounted for. We had a few unlucky people however who couldn't be saved in time. 34 people to be exact."
"…. 34 people, huh? 34 people who died all because Villains felt like being jackasses today."
"The people in this city are gonna be affected forever after this, Homefront. They'll never feel safe again. We, as heroes, who were sworn to protect and serve the people, failed miserably on this day. This is our loss."
"That's putting it nicely. This is a complete disaster. All the heroes are either dead or unaccounted for. And little Azure here…"
They both walked up to her. They really couldn't believe what they were looking at. Was that really her? Her face was all beat up and bruised, her body was cut up and scarred. They could only truly recognize her by the tattered eagle print on her back.
"Where's Rejuvenation healing people at?"
"A church a few blocks from here. She's holding up well."
"How many people are injured?"
"How many aren't?"
"Good point. Use your tunnels and get her healed asap."
"Will do. Although, she probably won't make Azure her top priority. The more damaged the patient, the more fluids she has to create. You know that."
"You're right. Hm. Her injuries aren't fatal, so she'll live. Though her… everything is fucked up. If she was quirkless, then well…. Bleh."
"Dude, come on man."
"Sorry, sorry. Family pickin on family."
"Oh yeah, that's right. You two are related. Damn, man, you okay? You aren't cryin or anything even though she's your people."
"Crying? Man, she'd be laughing her ass of if I was in her situation. She's lucky I'm even here. Know she'd be all pissy and all If I didn't show up. 'Why didn't you come! You knew my son was in danger, but you didn't show up and save the day! Shame on you, blah blah blah'."
"Her son? Hancocks kid?! Where the hell is he at in all this mess?!"
"Probably at home playing video games. Probably doesn't have a clue in the world what's going on outside."
"True, yeah."
"Yeah. Hey, question. Did you feel any Villains with a significant amount of power anywhere within the city?"
"Hm? No, why?"
"Because these bodies kept talking about a Green Lighting showing up and potentially saving the day, that's why. Trying to see if he's a already dealt with threat or not."
"Green Lighting, huh?"
"Yeah. Guess he was the leader of this coup."
"Hm. Yeah, nobody like that showed up on my radar. Maybe he got scared and ran off?"
"Nah, no way. You see, these bodies had bombs implanted in their head. Any betrayal means bye-bye forever."
"That's insanely smart. So how much did you squeeze out these Villains before their heads got blown off?"
"Just a name and gender. Time Bomb. Male."
"Let's make sure to report that. In the meantime…"
They looked back down at Azure. They could tell she was conscious and potentially listening in.
"Let's get her to Rejuvenation.."
"Yeah, hey, you hear that Zurie. We're gonna get you some help. Tectonics gonna bring you to Rejuvenation and she'll fix you right up. Okay?"
It was super faint, so faint in fact that Homefront could only hear her using his superhearing, but he did infact hear it.
"Okay~…"
Homefront smiled as he lifted her and gave her to Tectonic.
"Where are you going?"
"Hancocks son. Checking up on em'."
"So you really do care?"
"Heh. Well, he's my saviors kid and cousin child. I'll already do anything for the little guy. Believe that."
Tectonic smiled and nodded as he, azure, and the trapped Villains merged into the ground and disappeared.
"Now then.."
Homefront looked around at the carnage. His savior Hancock was against killing, but Homefront believed it was necessary to prove a point.
"Let's see if your sons the same way.."
With a hunch, he took off at alarming speed and disappeared into the clouds above, leaving the corpses behind in his wake.
