The words Sue Terind dreaded to hear immortalized before her like a mockery. It repeated into her mind, echoing to the depths of her as the flashbacks of her first meeting with Harris, to his arrogant antics, to his protective nature, and down to her last memory of him—it all came back to her, slamming her in full force.
"No…" Sue Terin could only murmur. The harrowing feeling inside her went to another level after seeing the glint of death with a pair of bright red eyes. "Why..."
"Weaker beings tend to die early. Isn't it the absolute rule of the world?" He leaned closer, his breath grazing Sue Terin's right ear. "And a piece of advice, you are a strong creature I can tell so… it is better to stop your foolish attachment to the weaker ones or you will only suffer a fate worse than death. Because those who were left behind would have to bear all the pain from the reckless dead ones."
