Everything seemed like a fairy tale part1

FlashBack

The gray sky poured a fine, continuous rain onto the kindergarten playground, transforming the playground into a damp and desolate desert. The slides and swings, usually invaded by the laughter and joyful cries of children, were now deserted, their structures slippery and beaded with droplets.

Behind one of the large colorful slides, half hidden by a column of blue plastic, a little boy was curled up in a ball. He only wore a t-shirt, soaked by the rain, which stuck to his shivering skin. His pale face and lost gaze were reflected in a puddle of water that had formed at his feet. Each splash of a drop in the puddle seemed to accentuate the loneliness that emanated from him.

Not far from there, a little girl his age, dressed in a bright pink coat that contrasted with the gray surroundings, was observing him. She hesitated for a moment, then walked towards him, her boots splashing water with each step.

-Hi!, she said softly, crouching down next to him. "You must be cold. Do you want my coat?"

The boy looked up at her, surprised by her approach. His face tightened, and he looked away, his arms tightening around his knees.

"Mind your own business," he replied abruptly, his voice trembling.

The little girl did not let herself be discouraged. She delicately placed a hand on her own coat, as if to emphasize her offer.

-You know, she said with lingering gentleness, "it's sad to be all alone in the rain."

A heavy silence settled between them, only interrupted by the sound of the rain which continued to fall. The boy closed his eyes before laughing mockingly.

-Why don't you care, huh? He finally whispered, his voice barely audible.

The little girl sat next to him, ignoring the rain that soaked the bottom of her coat.

-Because no one should be alone, she said simply, smiling at him, "And especially not when it rains."

The boy opened his eyes and looked at the puddle in front of them. The reflection of the two children, side by side, danced under the ripples of the raindrops. A slight smile began to appear on his lips.

-You're going to regret talking to me, he said in a slightly less harsh voice.

-Why do you say that?, she asked him curiously.

-Because everyone regrets it, he told her

-No, I wouldn't regret it, she told him confidently.

-You're lying, he replied.

-No, I'm not lying, you can trust me, she replied in a serious tone.

The little girl smiled in turn and, without another word, she took off her pink coat and placed it gently on the boy's shoulders. For the first time in what seemed like forever, he felt a comforting warmth wash over him, and not just from the coat.
