Mantisha connected her earphones with her phone and started playing her favourite music. She relaxed on her seat as the bus started. Looking at the bright sunbeams, she thought of her mom's gentle face. Her wholeness was really like the Sun. Mantisha smiled at the thought of Uncle Adi. He was really a bliss to their life. He made her mother smile so bright, again.
Her Mom was going through a hard time as she tugged her along with her in a foreign country. Sylvia was a bright student to began with, but from the start she didn't want to go to College as she had dreamt to become a chef. At the end she had to leave her college but could not pursue her dream too because of this marriage of convenience. Who knew that her first love from her college days would appear again after more than two decades, that's also on such a time when she was struggling with her newfound freedom and old dream.
Mantisha actually found a part time job at a library, denying all the refusals of her mother, she didn't pursue M.Phil anymore, instead she started studying M.St. She did not want to be a burden anymore. She did got a scholarship for her study but that was not enough for living of two people. She also had got some allowances through her father but neither that was enough to live for both of them nor did her father bother to ask her for their, or atleast her needs.
Sylvia was offered with a divorce alimony but she denied everything. Being as proud as she was, her pride did not allow her to take anything from a man who did not care about her. She only asked about Mantisha's fare share for her. Nobody had any objection for that. But apart froma copy of the will, her paternal grandfather made previously, that she would get eighty percent shares of their property when she would marry, and some living expenses her father gave for her, she did not receive anything else.
Her father, Danish, did not even call her once to inquire about anything, to ask her about her new life abroad. Thus she got a clear indication that her father did not want to meddle with their business anymore. She got so upset that she even started doubting her father's love for her.
Her mom started learning French style of cooking seriously after they settled here. She also started working as a Cashier in a high class cafe. There she happened to meet Adi, her first love from college.
Reunion brought these two old friends closer, after a few months Mantisha also met him. She was very impressed by his demeanor, later when she learned about their past entanglement, she was stunned initially.
But slowly she observed the smile on her mom's face when she talked about him, he also went to that cooking class to teach the learners once. Only then they realised what a big shot he is.
During these years, he had obtained a lot of degrees and certificates on Chinese Cuisine and French Food Art. He got selected by his master as his heir, as he defeated all other disciples of him and the other family members of his clan. From then on, he was continuing his master's traditional form of cooking, The Chinese Cuisine. Along with that his own creations of foods with western and eastern combined touches made huge sensations on a huge part of Europe.
He was even rewarded by the Crown Prince, and his business chain of foods and hotels were well known throughout the country.
When such a man, who was neither married nor even dated, nor even had any kind of rumours or scandals for his whole life, suddenly proposed her mother for a marriage, she could not keep calm.
Sylvia denied at first, she did not want to ruin this new life's peacefulness. She was also worried about her silly daughter who only knew how to feel guilty. But she underestimated her daughter's skill of loving someone wholeheartedly.
After Mantisha's constant persuasions and nagging, Adi's gentleness, love, and care touched her. Atlast, although she hesitated a lot, they finally got their marriage certificate, and she agreed to moved onto his villa.
Mantisha smiled, she did not tell her mother yet. After a few days when they would settle, she was planning to move out. She knew that Sylvia would not agree, and Adi would not allow her either, but she was adamant. With her, it would be too burdensome to have a new life for her mother, and she was not going to let that happen.
She would not let her mother be sad again, EVER.

For a well built up story, knowing someone's past is important. You guys aren't bored, right? Also, this chapter might provide some future knowledge of some 'bound to be happened' tragedies too. Who knows! ;)
