"Ah, my head. It's hurting," Ying Yue murmured, her eyes clenched shut, hands pressing against her temples. The throbbing pain was relentless, but it was the voice that followed that pierced her more deeply.

"Ying Yue, are you alright?"

Her heart clenched at the sound of the voice she least wanted to hear. Ying Yue slowly opened her eyes, and there she was—Lei Jingfei.

Ying Yue's gaze swept across the room, and her breath caught in her throat. This wasn't the cramped, dingy space where she had died, cold and alone. No, this was the room she had cherished—the room she had shared in the house with her family, her parents, grandpa, and the so-called best friend and adopted sister who had orchestrated her death. The room was as grand as it had always been, far more luxurious than the small, suffocating apartment she had called home after her family's death.

There was no muddy smell here, no irritating hawking that had woken her up every morning since her marriage—a marriage she thought was a blessing but in reality, it was just another of Jingfei's twisted schemes. The air was clean, the room well-ventilated. The soft bed, the faint scent of eucalyptus candles, and the warm morning light filtering through the curtains—it all seemed perfect. Everything, except for the presence of Lei Jingfei, the woman who had betrayed her and her family.

"How are you feeling now, Ying Yue ?"

Ying Yue looked at Jingfei as all the memories came crashing by. She could feel the ache in her whole body. The pain of being betrayed by the people who meant the world to her.

"Were you worried about me? Are you happy that I woke up?" Ying Yue managed to say without crying.

"Of course. Everyone was worried. I'm so glad that you are ok.''

'Liar.' she thought.

"What date is today?"

"It's 10 April, your birthday."

"What year?"

"What type of question is that?" Jingfei said in a joking sound.

"Just answer," she said in a cold voice.

Jingfei sounded a little taken aback at this. "It's 2021."

'Ow, so it's the pool accident.'

In 2021, when Ying Yue was 18, she fell into their swimming pool. She didn't know how to swim back then. To others, it was an accident. But Ying Yue knows what happened that day. Jingfei pushed Ying Yue. Though in her past life, Jingfei convinced Ying Yue it was an accident, before killing Ying Yue, Jingfei confessed all the horrible things she did to Ying Yue. Jingfei tried to hurt Ying Yue because the selection for The Best Of The Best(popularly known as TBOTB) competition's selection round was a day later. And, Jingfei knew Ying Yue was better than her in every way possible. So, she tried to make sure Ying Yue couldn't participate in the competition. But Ying Yue survived.

"What are you still doing here? Leave and call my mom on the way." Ying Yue's cold tone didn't change.

"Ok, Ying Yue. You take a rest. I will leave now." she tried to control her voice as she left. But Ying Yue could tell she was fuming with anger.

After just a few seconds, Ying Yue's mom, Wang Xiu Ying, came running.

"Are you alright, Ying Yue? Are you hurting anywhere?"

'Not 6 hours but 6 years. I last saw you before Jingfei and Junjie killed you and dad. Sorry, it was all my fault.' she thought.

"I'm fine, mom. Don't worry about me. Where's dad?"

"Did you forget your dad and grandpa are on a business trip? But don't worry. As soon as they heard about you, they booked the next plane to return. Their plane will leave soon. And they will be here."

"Mom I'm fine. Tell dad and grandpa not to hurry because of me. I don't want to be a nuisance."

"What are you saying? This is so unlike you, my baby. I expected you to say something like 'Why aren't they here yet? Do they not love me?'' her mom said in a mimicking sound.

Both of them laughed a little.

Sorry, mom. I trouble you guys so much."

"Of course not. You are talking as if you came from another timeline."

"How is that possible? Anyway, tell them they don't need to come. They should finish

their work and return. So that we can have a party for me being selected in The Best

Of The Best.''

"You sound so confident."

"Of course, do you have any doubt about me getting selected?"

"No, you are the best."

"Of course, I am"

"You should take some rest. Then we will go to the parlour for a facial. You need get a haircut as well. So after that we will go to salon."

'The salon. That's when everything went wrong.' she thought.

"Ok, mom. Let's do as you say."

'This time I will protect my family and myself from those evils.'

In her previous life, while Ying Yue and her mother were returning from salon in their car, they met with an accident with a truck. Apparently, the truck driver was drunk which caused the accident. So, she couldn't participate in her dream competition The Best Of The Best. But her mother went into coma. After a year, while in coma she died. Ying Yue's father died the same day due to shock.
