Chapter 70: Lost, before it even began

The team had quickly divided in to two groups with Cao Guang at the centre.

Lu Zhangtian, Zhao Jing, Bai Hong and Mu Hua formed the privileged quad while Zhu Li, Yao Nan, Nie Huan and Yan Liling formed the teamwork quad, they weren't unwilling to co-operate or be under proper and reasonable chain of command.

Cao Guang weighed the risk of them dying out in the wilderness against the difficulty of running the group in his mind for ideas to convince them to work together.

It was tricky and needed precision, without hurting their fragile egos.

" All principal said was that the objective of the mission was easy, capture younglings of the Hollow Bones Mares. That will probably be the easy part.

We still need to get to their nest, avoid detection and return with their infants probably more than once even if they have a low population, they are still Warrior level and that's not including other species."

"Didn't think of you as the coward of the group" Lu Zhangtian snorted.

That's it, no need to hold back for these guys.

There was a far easier way to establish one's prestige among unfamiliar faces. Cao Guang believed it was now a necessity.

These guys were at best Intermediate level in two elements, he had yet to see them cast a second Intermediate spell.

"All of you, fight me as a team, beat me and you can do what you wish for the practical mission, if not we proceed as a group"

"Are you kidding?" Mu Hua who thought himself to be the most composed among the group was first to speak up.

Cao Guang didn't bother replying the guy and took his place opposite the group at a casting distance. Cao Guang was a teenager too, his time in the military had made him accustomed to disciplined people.

And now he was suffering from watching these idiots loose the fight before even starting the match. They were able to fight as a group under the Dean's persuasion and against a stronger college.

As soon as they won, they split up and had no intention of cooperation ever again!

Maybe Song He had seen through them or both teams and that's why he presented such a loose practical mission. But Cao Guang was unwilling to loose a single person he could save, squad sixteen from the Blood Tabi Beast Mission still haunted him. He occasionally wondered if he were stronger they could have eliminated their pack first and then even helped squad sixteen.

"Come on"

Cao Guang casted his favourite spell after everyone had taken their place around Bai Hong. He smirked looking at these people who were fighting less than a minute ago co-operate so well in front of a formidable foe.

Fenrir emerged and seperated himself from Cao Guang and fought with Zhao Jing, Zhu Li and Lu Zhangtian. Cao Guang rarely casted the intermediate spell of Summoning anymore. He had trained the Little Flame Belle to emerge by herself using her talent.

Prairie Flames and Calamity Fire emerged in full glory as he prepared a gift for the other four standing infront of Bai Hong. Yao Nan had prepared an Ice spread as a defence. Nie Huan summouned his Contracted beast to fight Fenrir and relieve one defensive mage from there.

The beast was only a Warrior and evidently weaker than Fenrir and needed Zhao Jing and Mu Hua to be the offensive.

A Meteorite Fist decimated the defences prepared by Yao Nan and needed both Zhu Li and Lu Zhangtian to help out to douse the flames.

Lu Zhangtian and Yan Liling prepared a Wind Nebula each. It seemed that he had the highest cultivation among the group as he could cast intermediate spells of Light and Wind.

Cao Guang beat them to the prize by casting a Space Star Pattern and slowing them down. Little Flame Belle seperated from him to divide the four of them. It took Zhu Li, Lu Zhangtian and Yan Liling to keep the little canon occupied.

It left just Yao Nan to fight Cao Guang with Bai Hong supporting whomever she could.

It seemed Cao Guang did not go all out in his previous fight as well. But they were able to confirm that he had three elements of Fire, Summoning and Space.

In Cao Guang's eyes Yao Nan was the most promising among the group. He was a hunter and probably had gone out of the safe zones. Therefore he was a strong advocate of staying as a group. Unfortunately for him Cao Guang would beat him up as well.
