Starting School

"What does he mean by that? Is he planning on throwing me away?" Muna asked, looking confused and scared at the same time.

"No, that's not what he meant," the old man replied to her as he walked out of the office.

"Sir, what are you talking about?" She asked him.

"He could hide anything but not the master and slave contract between the two of you because I can see the mark on your forehead," the man replied and Muna was surprised that he knew about it.

"Does that mean that everyone knows about it already?" She asked him.

"No, it takes a high level of cultivation for one to be able to see the mark on your forehead," the man replied. "And as for me, I am already at the meteor level. It's a shame that I am still stuck there," he said and sighed.

"Is the meteor level that difficult?" She asked him out of curiosity.

"It is indeed very difficult. Only a few people were lucky to advance further to the transcendent level and they have all become immortals. They are no longer sharing the same fate with us. Apart from them, none has been able to advance further."

"Hmph! Of course, those old farts will never allow anyone else to become like them," Muna muttered with a look of disgust written all over her face.

"What did you say?" The man asked her.

"No, it's nothing. I am only surprised," she lied. 'Those up there are so selfish. Wait until I get strong again, I must take my revenge!' She thought. Unknown to her, she had subconsciously let her killing intent leak out and it became so much that the old man moved away from her.

'So much hate,' he thought to himself.

When she realized what she had done, she became sad.

"Sorry about that, sir," she apologized to the old man.

"It is nothing, child," the man replied.

"So, you said something to me before. Why did you say so?" She asked him.

"About that... Let's forget about it and focus on the main thing," he replied, and then she frowned. She was eager to know what he meant by his words because it involved Arsenal but she couldn't force the old man to speak.

"You didn't start at the beginning of the term but if you are serious, you will catch up with the rest of the students," he said to her.

"I am aware," she replied.

"Alright, the next thing I will do is to have someone take you to your class. Before the end of the day, your materials will be brought to you," the man said and she nodded.

The two of them went back to the office and the man sent for someone, a male student.

When the boy walked into the office, he saw Muna and smiled at her. Sadly, she didn't respond to him.

"Davis, she is now one of your students. Take her and show her the class, also, don't forget to take care of her," the old man instructed him.

"Yes, sir. I will do as you've said," the boy replied and turned to Muna. "What is your name?" He asked her.

"My name is Muna," she replied.

"Okay, Muna. Follow me," he said and she got up. Just as she was about to leave, the Dean called her back.

"Before you leave, there is something I am curious about," the old man said.

"Which is?" She asked him.

"About the boy that came with you, there is something about him that I can not understand," he said.

"And what could that be?" Muna asked him. Although she kind of knew where the man was heading to, she still wanted to hear it from him.

"I couldn't detect any aura from him which is strange, and also, he doesn't smell like a human to me. What is he?" He asked.

Muna knew that she couldn't hesitate to answer him because further hesitation would make the man more curious about Arsenal's identity. So she had to be fast with her reply. "He is a human just like you but a special one," she said.

"A special human? Hmmm, care to tell me more?" The man was now more curious to know about Arsenal but fortunately, Muna knew her way with words.

"About that... I think we should focus on the more important matters," she said and left with Davis who was waiting for her outside.

"Hmm," the man sighed as he watched her leave. Unknown to Muna who thought she had succeeded in playing her role, the old man who was not easy to deceive became eager to know more about Arsenal because everything about him seemed mysterious to him.

In the meantime, Davis led Muna to their classroom. It was not that big but it was large enough to accommodate up to thirty students.

The moment they walked into the class, all eyes fell on Muna and some liked her instantly because of how pretty she was while others began to envy her.

Davis was a quick observer so he knew that some would definitely come after her, as such, he decided to do something.

"That is my seat over there, you are going to be sitting next to me," he said and led her to his seat which was by the window side. The seat by his right was empty so she occupied it per his instruction. "For now, you must not go out alone, if you need something, just tell me and whenever you want to go out, let me know," he also said.

"Why? Or are you scared that I can't take care of myself?" She asked him. She was already getting tired of his constant talks.

"The Dean instructed me to take care of you so it is my duty," he replied.

"Sorry but I can take care of myself just fine," she said and looked elsewhere.

After they had settled down, a teacher walked into the class and began to teach. While others wrote down what he was saying, Muna listened attentively. She learned that there were ways to improve oneself, such as cultivating in places filled with elemental energies, physical and mind training, and using rare magic items that boost one's cultivation, enabling one to advance further.

After the class, Muna was eager to know more about it so she left the class without Davis knowing and went in search of the library — During the class, the teacher had mentioned that there were books in the library that talked more about cultivation so she wanted to find them. Not only that, but she also wanted to find any useful information about demonic cultivation, her mission was also important.

After asking around, she finally found her way to the library and when she got there, she went in and began to look around.

"Young lady, how may I help you?" A middle-aged woman asked her.

She was startled by the woman's presence because she didn't know how and when the woman approached her from behind — she didn't even hear her footsteps.

"I'm looking for books that talk about cultivation," she replied while trying to hide her fear.

"Oh, it seems like you are the new student. Well, follow me, I'll show you the place," the woman said and led her to a shelf that was in the inner part of the library. "These are all the books you need," she said to her.

"Thank you," Muna replied and the woman smiled and left her. After she was gone, Muna let out a sigh of relief and began to go through the books. She picked one randomly and sat down on the floor to begin with it but just before she could start, she heard a sound coming from the back of that particular shelf.

At first, she ignored the noise but then it came again and it was distracting her attention so she stood up and decided to know what it was all about.

When she got there, she saw a student busy scattering the books on the shelf and angrily, she walked up to her to demand an answer but the moment she grabbed the student on the shoulder, the latter turned around furiously and pounced on her.

"Ah!" Muna yelled but unfortunately, no one heard her because the student had cast a spell all over the place.
