*Liliths POV*
It's been a day since my breakthrough into the first realm, that I have taken the privilege to call the Mortal Core Realm. There was already a name for it, but it was lame. Anyway, despite making the breakthrough I don't think much changed. My heart is stronger, the blood being pumped through it is thicker, my core itself is stronger, and I can somewhat move the Qi in my body better. (I did just start my training after all, can't be too greedy). "Daisy, could you come here for a bit!" I call out into the kitchen as Daisy has been walking back and fourth in the there and oping the fridge every couple of minutes as if she's expecting something to just appear.
She slowly walks out of the kitchen holding her stomach as if shes starving... wait we do't have food. "How about we go out and get some food, do you like deer?" Stars appeared in her eyes for a second and drool dripped out of her mouth. "I'm so hungry i'd eat anything." (Anything you say?) "If you want to, you could eat me~" *Crash* How'd she manage to fall over the couch!? I can't even begin to explain how much skill it would require to fall over this couch.
"Pft, you good? I knew you were clumsy, but to fall over the backside of the couch is another level! I'm sorry heheha, it's just too good!" I laugh until my stomach hurts while Daisy just sits on the ground pouting. I take long breaths to calm my laughter and walk over to Daisy, grabbing her arm. "C'mon, lets go." I drag her out the door, grabbing Kali as I pass by the coffee table. It's still early in the morning so not many people are out right now. (How far is the forest from here?) The forest, officially named the Deathly Winds due to the wind speeds being an upwards of 2000+ mph. The winds are so great that they would just rip anything that crosses them into shreds, though they are only found deep in the forest. There's a rumor that some type of monster controls them, that's why the winds are so isolated and don't cause tornadoes. Getting lost in the myth I didn't notice a person stalking up to us.
[Be careful! A person is making a steady advancement towards you from behind. Keep an eye on them, and please stop getting lost in your head it does more harm than good sometimes.] Well someones a little grump, [Roger that oh great Kali.] I can hear the groan coming from a mile away. I put my free hand on Kali's grip and swivel around to look at the person. It's a girl with pink eyes and red hair, she's wearing a cloak to cover any weapon they may or may not have. "Well well, look what we have here. Thought you could sneak up on little old me did ya?" (She almost did but lets not talk about it.) The girl halts and stands upright, her cloak fluttering for a second allowing me to see a sheath on her left hip. (Armed and dangerous, got it.)
She just stands there looking at me and Daisy before placing her right hand on her sheath and lowering her stance. I chuckle nervously, "We-well, maybe this doesn't have to escalate so fast? Why are you after us anyway." All of a sudden her eyes go blank as she pulls out a wallet, opening it, and holding it upside down. *Tink* A single small copper coin falls to the ground as the girl looks at it devoid of any emotion before sighing and picking the coin back up and putting it in the wallet. (Ahh, the cruel reality where everyone in the shit-hole is broke.) "You must be new to this part of town hun, no one here has much money. The only time you'll find someone worth stealing from is when these roads are full, that's when you'll find the people who have money. Even then, it won't be much. I spent hours one day pick pocketing from people and only got away with a large silver. Just not worth the risk." (Hope she guys it... if her face, which somehow got even sadder is something to go by than it worked.)
Her shoulders drooped as she trudged off the road and back in the direction she came from. (I understand her distraught, it's tough being poor.) I look back at Daisy who hasn't spoken the entire time and find her looking at me. "Did... did you just talk down someone who was already set on robbing, if not killing us?" I grin, "What can I say, I have a silver tongue~ and talking isn't the only thing it can do~"
[You're rather flirty today, is there a reason?] Kali's mature voice slips into my mind. [Of course, it's because i'm in a good mood! I just broke into the first realm, that's reason enough to be happy. Besides, her reactions are hilarious.] I glance over at Daisy who was looking away from me with her ears tinted red. [That's true, shes quite cute. Anyway, earlier you said you wanted deer. Are you going hunting in this forest?] I look back towards the road, reminded where I planned on going. The huge trees are closer now, only about a few minutes walk away. "H-hey, you don't plan o-on taking us into there right?" A look at Daisy shows her staring at the trees looming over the buildings.
'"Of course we are Daisy, where else could we get good food. I mean we could buy it, but we should save money. Especially when we can just go hunting for it. Do you not trust me?" Daisy looks offended and quickly shakes her head. "I do trust you, just... well... you already know why the forest is scary! Do we HAVE to go there?" I shrug and blink at her, "You don't have to, I just though it would be a good experience for you." Daisy sighs and accepts her fate, no longer bringing up any complaints.
The rest of the walk was quiet, only the sound of the wind disturbing my thoughts once we stand in front of the forest. The huge trees, defiantly older than the town itself, seem to be staring down on us. As if daring us to enter. I pause for a second and just look into the dark wall. The trees are so thick with leaves that their is a clear cut off between the forest and the place we are standing now. Taking a deep breath, I step into what others would call certain death for a kid my age. The snap of twigs under my steps keep me and Daisy alert. "Ok, we aren't going deep into the forest. Let me know if you see an animal we can take on. So far, I've only seen birds." Daisy hums in agreement, and starts scanning the area as we keep walking. The area getting darker makes it harder to see things, though.
*Snap* A branch falls from a tree and the fluttering of wigs from the birds that were resting on it almost gave me a heart attack. I guess even these trees aren't unbreakable. The howling of the wind gets louder the deeper we go, and I can't shake the feeling that something is watching us. "I-i hear something Lilith. It sounds like footsteps, lots of them." I look at the direction that Daisy is pointing and see it. Pairs of fiery orange eyes glaring at us from behind trees. "Ok, we are going to slowly back up. Keep your eyes on them." I take Kali out and keep her pointed down for now. The crunch of dead leaves under us is the only noise we hear now, the wind has stopped. [Kid, stop moving. You're surrounded...] My eyes widen and I take sharp looks around seeing more pairs of eyes watching us, even far up in the trees.
(Why are there this many beasts so close to the entrance!?) My breathing becomes unsteady as one of the beasts steps in front of the tree it was behind. Even with the limited visibility i can clearly see it. It's ghostly grey fur makes it seem slightly transparent, the glowing orange in its eyes is different from all the others. It has wisdom behind its glare. It opens it's jaw letting a chuckle escape. "What are humans doing this deep in the forest? Come to die perhaps?" It lets amusement slip into its tone, though it confused me. Daisy is the first one to speak up, "What do you mean d-deep? We just started walking how could we be deep in the forest?"
It shakes it's head. "Do you hear the wind humans? No, you don't. The closer you are to it the louder it gets, till it just vanishes as you pass through it. I'm surprised she even let you get past the wall of wind, maybe she decided to let us taste the meat of humans?" What are they talking about, my brows furrow as a staring my ears and listen... Nothing, no wind, but that doesn't make sense. We would have seen the wind with how fast it is... how did we get here? "Whatever the reason, you are here. And now that you're here, we found you. And humans make an excellent meal... I hope you can at least entertain me." The beast howls and one wolf charges at us from behind the tree.
I raise Kali and point it at the running wolf, pulling the trigger. The power of the bullet causes me to raise the gun a little higher after shooting, but the bullet itself found its home in the chest of the wolf. Just as fast as it hit the ground, two more wolves jumped out and began charging at us. (Dam, I shoulda got Daisy a weapon!) I aim my gun towards the closer wolf and pull the trigger. The bullet whizzes through the air and punches through the wolfs meat, ad cuts through its head. It falls with the same speed it was turning and causes the other wolf to trip and land at our feet. I lower the gun going to shoot it when a pointed rock bashes into its skull, smashing its brain. I look to the side and see daisy holding the rock looking like she's gonna throw up but holds it in an picking the rock back up.
[Behind you!] I throw myself to the side, dragging Daisy to the ground with me as a wolf pounces on the spot we were just standing. It snaps its jaw annoyed that it missed, and groups up with the other three wolves that came out with it. (Is this some type of game to them?!) I fire bullets at the four as they were just standing there slowly advancing at us. I hit two of them, but it didn't cause them to fall, only hitting their sides. I take my time to aim and fire again, lodging a bullet into one of the uninjured wolves, killing it. I do the same thing and aim at another wolf. *click* Wh-what? I pull the trigger again, *click click* [You're out of bullets Lilith! God we should have went to get more. You need to find a way to get out.] Cold sweat starts breaking out as more and more wolves start jumping into the small clearing, ready to end it. "Well, that was short lived... I guess you can't expect much from children. Kill them!"
A bunch of wolves launched themselves at us, and I just stood there. What could I even do, we're surrounded, outnumbered, and are weaker than them. Just as I was about to close my eyes to welcome death, the sound of wind picks up. At first a gentle breeze, it quickly sped up becoming dangerous gales. Razor blades of wind created a shield around us, the poor wolves had already jumped and could't flee in time to escape. They crashed face first and died immediately. Like a force field, not even a spec of blood passed through the wind as the wolves were literally shaved down until there was nothing left but a red mist.
"YOU DARE ATTACK MY GUESTS!" The wind vanished immediately and I saw it... THE beast.
